I was hoping for a little more reaction to my asking for a deadline. Nobody even seconded!
Well, it probably didn't help that we have a heavy-handed mod who chose to step in and label your action as obvjoking. But that aside, what would your reaction have been if someone had seconded?

unvote, vote: Axelrod for 43. Although most of my reads so far are townie.
I am also seriously seriously tempted to call for a mass day 1, because I have a feeling that it would throttle scum in most games around here.
Buuuut I am a little hesitant to do that with Meg hosting this game after how much I scoffed that we would have been destroyed by a mass as scum in our last game. Doubt he would create a game so easily exploitable after I just called someone out on it.
Masses day 1 can still work in normal games, but not when hosts plan around them. Not sure I want to take that risk on my second game ever on this site
Please outline what you consider to be the pros and cons of mass-claiming toDay.

Even this vote from you can come from your Town or Scum game so there still isn't anything to discuss that is important.

I am assuming you are talking about the obvious pros and cons? (Outing power, scum having to fake claim early and be drilled down in their claim etc.)
The specific cons I see here is that of all the people I have talked to so far in this site I think Meg is the least likely to make a setup that can be completely destroyed by claims.
The other specific con is I have no idea how these guilds are going to work out. Claiming with those could result in something bad I wasn't expecting.
Actually its these specific cons that are keeping me from calling for it, otherwise I think it would work well. Even in games least likely for day 1 mass claims to be effective (multi vanilla low power setups) it can work, though it wouldn't be ideal. Stuff like no day talk between scum and no vanillas(Not sure if I saw if this game meets either critera) Makes mass claims terrible for scum. They are completely fried by it

If we could massclaim rolename without also giving away guild, that might be helpful, but that's obviously not going to work.

Oh hey, anyone mention a guild claim? If not why not? I'll be back later to push it. Or to join in.
I'm strongly against a guild claim. I expect the mafia have at least one ability reliant on other players' guilds, and the scum have a slim chance of being caught for lying about their affiliation, though it could help us catch them if they attract suspicion themselves (but if they do, do we really need the extra info?).

You're voting for Dagaen because he looks nervous to you, which is not nearly enough to call someone outright scum imo, yet you claim he's definite scum and even base your read on Axelrod off of it entirely?
I have no clue why masterplum would break it off there, but it looks like he was overconsidering his fairly simple response of "sure it is".
You really have no clue why he would break it off there? I don't want to put words in his mouth, so I'll leave it at it seemed like a natural break to me.

See, now here you're completely ignoring the point and focusing in on something rather irrelevant in what appears to be an effort to hand wave away the issue. I didn't vote you because you said you weren't "paying attention." The entire quote by me is not your exact words - as anyone could see. It was a paraphrase of an attitude. And that attitude was coming through loud and clear. Here's a direct quote:
"Come back to me when you have found something worth my time"
What the hell is that? Who says that early on in Day 1? Well, who says that it someone who either (1) doesn't understand how the game is played or (2) someone who wants to sit back and not say anything. Who wants to be reactive and not proactive. Who doesn't want to scum-hunt, but wants other people to do it and then (presumably) comment on it. The former could be anything, the latter is more likely scum. I'm not "twisting" anything.
@Axel & AI: How does your concern regarding Void's post fit when applied to a player of Void's experience?
I'm going to confess to not being especially up to date with Void's experience. What is it? If you want to tell me he's known for sitting back on day 1 and kvetching about how there's nothing worth talking about early on - well, I'll happily reevaluate.

@Cantripmancer: Void is not experienced in the sense that Axelrod is, for instance, but he's experienced enough to understand the basic dynamics of the game. He's certainly experienced enough to realize that taking a nap and hanging up a sign that says "Do Not Disturb (Unless Someone Claims Scum)" is a huge red flag. So unless you think he's town misplaying deliberately, I'm not sure where the confusion lies.
I think the void thing is kind of getting blown out of proportions. People can say they aren't going to contribute for a variety of reasons, and I never once as scum have said that day 1 for no reason. It just seems its the sort thing more likely for a town to say without thinking then for a scum to consciously think and type
@KK: Why does anyone ever want anyone else to know any of their opinions in Mafia?
Why are you asking me this?
There are multiple possible reasons depending on alignment. It could be because they want other players to understand their reads and join in on their wagon. Or it could be the opinion expressed is attempting to blend in as a town one, as seems to be the case here. masterplum was both confrontational (which turns it into a me vs you attitude, grabs attention, and gives the argument the subconscious appearance of strength) and insincere (as I explained in my response to plum above).

Are you the only one with opinions that are worthy of being posted in the thread?
I just said why I was questioning his motives: I was scumhunting. To go more in depth, he said something that seemed unlikely to have come from a town mindset to me, so I pushed.
No one is just voicing their opinions in this game. The game is all about the control of information. But when I start going after masterplum, you show up and defend him for some reason, and with mudslinging (saying I'm questioning other the relevance of other player's posts when I'm questioning the intentions and motives).
