How has Seppel made admant that we've never played against him as scum before?
He only made it known that Generic has never played him as scum - it doesn't apply for the rest of us.
We seem divided on Shockwave's reactions.
Have you seen my argument with regards to the noobtell vs scumtell, and if yes, what is your opinion with regards to it?
Your reasoning for Shock being scum seems really skewed.
You marked Seppel out for jumping onto Shockwave, yet you somehow managed to miss that Sir Karn was the first of the lot to do so.
And I do not believe for a second that Seppel and Shockwave are scum together.
Shockwave's first few posts do not seem planned to me.
There are much better responses he could have given while still looking scummy, rather than the rubbish we got.
Yes, it's a bit of a WIFOM, but I don't believe his responses were planned.

It’s not the best choice, but it’s a choice nonetheless
• Seppel faked a pre-game cop on Shockwave, who freaked.
• Karn jumped all over Shockwave, the discussion of which led to a wagon on Karn.
• More discussion generated a wagon on Shockwave.
• Karn and Generic got into a personal spat about a previous game.
• The game stalled because of lots of lurking.
You ask for a summary and you don't use what you get ._.
We need to get this game moving in some direction people.
Am I lynch bait or not? Sir Karn still thinks so and all his scum reads have been based on scummy me and he can't let go of them like a bulldog won't stop digging through the trash for any old moldy piece of steak!
Scum Karn, Town Karn? Bad boy Karn!
Next time some sort of majority comes up I'm voting for it! It's been a week (real time) with no cohesion one way or another. Heck, I'll even vote myself again if I get to be majority just to watch Karn's case crumble.
If I am to be thrown under a wagon for this, oh well. I am tired of Karn's tunneling and will bet even if Karn is town, it will give town players one less irrational voice.
Though will admit if a wagon gets high up enough on me, will make sure the hammer drops one way or another.

I'm far from tunneling, and I'm the absolute opposite of irrational.
Not only did I not jump on a wagon (unless we now consider two votes a wagon), but I gave my reasons. In fact LnGrrr has been pointing it out to everyone because he wanted people to comment on it. So try reading a bit more karn.
@Sir Karn: Do me one favor then. Tell me of one post besides yours and Generic's other game aside that you did not question someone based on the possibility of defending me or quoting someone who mentioned me?
I'll need a bit more information to compile my reads list, but here's where I stand on things at the moment.
I don't understand the wagon on Shockwave and to me he feels like a complete town VI. Claiming vanilla, self-voting, stirring up discussion - all signs of town VIs. I'm surprised the wagon grew on him so fast - nine times out of ten, VIs who are quickwagoned out of the blue Day 1 are likely to be town.
This extends to my read on Sir Karn. I'm not sure whether to like him or not this game - I dislike the fact that he's still pushing against a low-hanging fruit, but I know that he's been a popular mislynch candidate in most of his games.
I'm going to fencesit here for now and wait and see. Let's see if he's actually town his game so I can sheep his reads.
I agree with fadeblue on the sXe/Silent Prophet read; his first post was extremely passive and he didn't even place a vote on Sir Karn. Lurking + replacing out are all hallmarks of scum as well. I can't get enough of a read on fadeblue and I don't trust Seppel's meta usage, so I'm inclined to /barn fadeblue on all of the reasons he stated.

Claiming vanilla is common from both alignments. Self-voting is mainly scummy (especially in the manner, Shockwave did it). Stirring up discussion is anyone.
And the wagon on him was not "out of the blue" like you claim.

You just want to be able to sheep me so you don't have to do anything yourself?
It's just that I've observed you being a perennial mislynch candidate in games where you have most or all of the scum team pegged. (*cough* Smalltown Swap, House, Katawa Shoujo *cough*) I've spectating a lot of games that you're in, and I know you have good reads.
I want to figure out if you're town or scum, because if you're town then I'll sheep your reads to abandon. You often complain in the spec chat (after you're lynching in those three games) that you're angry when no one listens to your reads when you flip. If you're town, then I'll guarantee you that I'll take a look at your reads.
Claiming vanilla is common from both alignments. Self-voting is mainly scummy (especially in the manner, Shockwave did it). Stirring up discussion is anyone.
And the wagon on him was not "out of the blue" like you claim.
This is why I'm so wary about your alignment this game - you're attacking the "easiest" target immediately (Shockwave). You're doing a similar thing in what I did as scum in Megiddo's Favorite Video Games Mafia (if this reminds you of anything go check it) - you're attacking the "easiest" target immediately, when Shockwave's mindset isn't at all coming from scum.
You're picking off low-hanging fruit such as Shockwave, and you're attacking Shockwave for scummy things he's doing but you're not objectively evaluating if his mindset comes from scum.
I still stick to the fact that when a VI is wagonned early in the game, nine times out of ten he flips town. See Kosakosa in Innistrad Mafia (he claimed Vanilla Town early in that game, too!), me in USUDM, Trabant/iRebel in Disney Villains.

I still don't like the basically-blind following despite this reasoning. While, sure, my success rate in finding scum has been high, you're just looking for a way to not actually scumhunt for yourself.

Well, look here for a moment.
Say you were playing mafia for the first time.
From some earlier research, you know the most basic of basic roles, like cop and doc.
First day opens, and some guy starts by spouting that they cop scanned you as mafia.
You are town.
What's your reaction?
I don't think it'll be "Pre-game cops can't exist, can it?".
The somewhat experienced would go "Ha, RVS"
The inexperienced will go "He's obviously lying, I know I'm town!"
So, yeah, I don't think it's a matter of experience here.
That reaction seems wrong for a town regardless of experience.
What do you think the definition of "Silver Rage" is?
Complaining about the game moving too fast to post at the time he 'wanted' to.
That's not what Silver Rage is - it's when you're complaining if you couldn't take an action that makes you more townie.
Is that not what he did? You just said basically the same thing that I did but added the "townie" part (which is debatable).
He was complaining about not being able to post in RVS.
-
Another problem I have with you is that you only have two reads so far - Shockwave for town, and sXe for scum. Everyone else you either explicitly tell us you're riding the fence on or you just don't say.
I still don't like the basically-blind following despite this reasoning. While, sure, my success rate in finding scum has been high, you're just looking for a way to not actually scumhunt for yourself.
Where did I say I wasn't going to scumhunt?
I can carry your reads and scumhunt at the same time?
Quote from Sir Karn »
Did you read this post?
I did, and I'm not convinced. newb!town's thought processes aren't as cut and dry like this - they're fairly unpredictable.
Because RVS holds a very dear spot in my heart. Even when I come into a game after RVS has ended, I make an RVS post, and I'm always a little sad when RVS dies.
Quote from Sir Karn »
Another problem I have with you is that you only have two reads so far - Shockwave for town, and sXe for scum. Everyone else you either explicitly tell us you're riding the fence on or you just don't say.
Do you really expect me to have a full color-coded reads list on Day 1? As much as I like to believe it is, this is not a clear carbon-copy of my replace-in in MTG Salvation.
I've also been working on keeping my town reads to myself unless they fall under attack or if I'm inclined to do a readwall in the future (no point in telling scum who to kill).
2. I don't see it as defensive. That's just my attitude when someone challenges common sense.
Specifically, it was the ownership in "what, I can't even assume that a guy going into a mafia game knows what cop and doc are?" That sounded like you were offended that you (personally) would be questioned on that.
Interesting analysis. I've never thought about it like that.
I dare say you're reading far too into it.
I may be, but I've been right on minute reads before, so I guess we'll see.
I really don't feel the need to read the rest of the thread. That gambit was stupid crazy and really had no point whatsoever.
Does not read town Sepple and i will keep my vote on him.
I was planning on simply ignoring Rodemy pretty much all game, but I see that he's requested replacement, so I will wait until his replacement comes and then hold comments like the above against his replacement.
Sure enough to lynch him. He's either scum or a troll.
o.O Really? It sounds like you're defining "troll" in this case as "someone experienced in mafia but pretending to be dumb and making all the slips"? How does being a troll denote alignment?
Actually thats a good question. Those voting LnGrrr, is that reliant on him being Scum WITH shockwave? Because personaly I could see him being scum without shockwave being scum too.
Care to explain why you feel this way? Or is this another barn like your vote on Karn?
Because if you really think LnG can be scum without Shock, why do you say it's a good question?
Unvote, vote FadeBlue.
Caught you.
First question: This question is ok.
Second question: Leading and incinuating as hell.
Third question: Pointless. "Actually that's a good question." was a leading statement to show his interest in an answer.
@Cantrip: I don't know Karn's meta, so that's possible. The key is whether Karn has previously demonstrated that he normally discerns between scum behavior and newb behavior - if he has, then I agree that it's a scum tell.
...true. I guess this is the part where some research on Karn would be beneficial.
Next time some sort of majority comes up I'm voting for it! It's been a week (real time) with no cohesion one way or another. Heck, I'll even vote myself again if I get to be majority just to watch Karn's case crumble.
In your experience (playing or reading), how long is a game Day in real days? Because a week is barely anything for early game on this site.
Voting the majority is poor play at best and scummy at worst. Scum are anxious to get to Night and want any non-scum wagon to occur. If you're town, form opinions, vote people based on those opinions, defend your actions. Don't just work toward any lynch.
Though will admit if a wagon gets high up enough on me, will make sure the hammer drops one way or another.
*sigh*
Self-hammering is also something scum do because it robs the town of wagon analysis (because the hammer vote comes from the scum-suicide rather than a player who later needs to be analyzed) and because it ends the Day prematurely, robbing the town of discussion. If you're town, please don't hammer yourself.
Mmmm. I don't actually get too much of a scum feel from Cantrip.
Seppel, the only thing I found on him from you was that you didn't like Cantrip for finding fadeblue town.
Was there anything else you had against him that triggered your vote?

Two more things -
Cantrip's first post trips over my gut, and I would like to see more from him.
I want an explanation from Rodemy as to why he /barns Seppel on the fadeblue wagon even though he considers Seppel to be "not like townSeppel at all".

Let's put it this way.
Why are you being so jokey? I have never seen you act like this.
Its because you and Sepple claimed stupidly in rvs.. and then went after Shockwave for calling you out on it.
Also Karn is ALWAYS considered scum in every game he is in. its typical for a game to start with a Karn wagon...
I am not seeing seppel being town in this game. And you are right up there.
You think this is a summy thing to do then? Why is it scummy? You noticed that Seppel jumped on Karn first? What do you make of that?
Reasons? What is striking you as scummy here?
