I forgot to look at scores until now. I knew I did good, but I definitely did not do best score good. I 100% agree that Cyan deserves the best score.
Given how quickly scum die in League games due to everyone bringing their A-game, I think scum definitely need more little ways to earn points like the town does instead of one big glob of points. Something along the line of Taredas' post would be good.
As we're working on the rubric, I would like to mention that you still have around a week left to spend a review point and get a review of your play if you're a member of the League who played in Archer. Please PM me if you'd like to do this.
I'm going to be unable to play in any future games (that would be all games, not just League). I've changed to a new job, and long story short, I have 1 hour of free time a day, with maybe a little more on the weekends. And assuming I want to do other stuff than just mafia, I won't be able to play again (or host). I assume you'll want to keep my stats in for this season just because it would screw with scoring to remove me, but this is just a heads-up that I won't need any reminders or anything.

A discussion I want to carry over as quickly as possible so that the next league signups don't get delayed:
I really want a rule to be created that says that people cannot use 'I acted this because of league points' arguments. This is a despicable argument that you should never have to try to work out in-game. It is completely against the spirit of the game, and violates the 'out of game arguments' rule in every meaningful way. I want a definitive answer on this before the game starts, because it affects whether or not I sign up. I tried to get a league to happen here for literally years, but I'm not playing if we have to deal with nonsense like that.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
The original intent was a -4 penalty for discussing the league points. It's part of the "-4 points for bad sportsmanship (flaming, trolling, etc.)(judges rule, mod nomination)" line.
Hopefully a severe points penalty is enough. But I'm happy with this, thanks for responding quickly. On to the next game, I suppose. Who is the Mod for the upcoming one?
It goes against the rules of spirit of the league, and was one of the biggest fears when it formed. The -4 penalty was for each instance of unsportsman-like behavior and Cyan is correct it is against the rules.
I would even go so far as to say -4 and a warning, and then ejection from the league for going so far against it if the behavior continues.

Anyone OK with me creating a spectator chat for League games, but limiting it to people who've died in-game? Not sure what the "no spec chat" rule was there for and it was well-received in Wu Tang.
The no spectator chat was to prevent leaks. Sure, there are spectator chats in other games and we generally trust the players not to leak information, but it has happened in the past and with points at stake we decided it was a risk that we would rather not take.

Now that Wu-Tang is over and the setup revealed, I think it's time to take this one out of the League Judge forum and bring it up for general discussion:
There has been some internal discussion amongst the League Judges (read: conversations between Proph and I) about mixing up the League games a bit. Most of the recent League setups have been a bit cookie-cutter (WWE, Apocalypse, Archer, and Wu-Tang all had fairly similar setups, and Star Wars differed mostly in having a semi-open setup), which is a double-edged sword - on the one hand, consistent setups give you a better idea of what you're dealing with before starting the game, which theoretically emphasizes scumhunting/avoiding detection and makes cross-game comparison easier, but on the other hand that level of consistency can get stale and lead to a loss of player interest.*
In short, with the current short state of the Normal queue we're considering looking for a couple of more experimental games to finish this year's League schedule - a power-heavy game or a game with minor mechanical tweaks, or maybe even some bastard modding. (Proph has specifically mentioned the possibility of a Cyberpunk-esque game.) But we're not sure whether people actually *want* to see more complex/unusual League games, so we're asking you, the playerbase: What do you want?
(* - This is a familiar argument to me, since MafiaScum's been having the same argument about its Normal queues for years.)
Not bastard modding, but yeah - would like to gauge interest on higher-complexity Normals (or Normals with minor mechanical tweaks) such as Return to Ravnica or Conflux.

I would be in favor of seeing a Specialty pulled from the queue for the last game of the season, but we did reduce complexity creep in Normals for a reason, and part of that was to avoid odd scoring problems/uncertainties in the League.

Generic: +28

7hawk77: +10
Cyan: +16
Notes:
- Due to Cyan reaching a kingmaker endgame (and would have won if Bur hadn't hammered him) we gave Cyan four points, the same as a non-SK neutral winning. Due to this instance, we're also considering altering scoring to account for kingmaker endgames (Something like SK: +4 points for losing Kingmaker endgame, Mafia: +2 group points for losing Kingmaker endgame). Thoughts?
- The -4 unsportmanlike conduct score penalty did not apply for this game, but for future games (including xkcd) the penalty will be assessed for each mention or allusion of League points in the game thread. As an example, if this ruling had been in effect for this game's scoring, Generic would receive a 36-point penalty for nine mentions of League points in the game thread, for a net score of -12 points.
- We counted Cyan's poison kills as scum nightkills for the purposes of the rubric.
For the record, these are the changed scores due to Wu-Tang - keep in mind that MVP scores have not been awarded:
We have awarded MVP awards for Wu-Tang Clan to Cyan and Sir Chris. They have received a bonus +5 to their score.
In addition, I realized that we did not award MVP points for Archer, so I've decided to apply them now. We decided on Wheat_Grinder and Cyan (once again).
Scores have been updated. We should send out reviews in the next week or two, so stay tuned.
I will be giving my Head League Judge position to Taredas, and he will be the Head League Judge (as well as the only League Judge) for the remainder of the Season. Please direct all questions/inquiries to him.
resigning HEAD LEAGUE JUDGE DUTIES effective immediately.
If a new season is run after this one, I would like to put my name forward to be a judge.
Just wanted to put that out there now, if I'm not allowed that's fine.
When League signups were opened for this season, signing up to judge was one of the options (I should know, I'm the only one who did so!). Barring drastic changes, the same option will be available next year.
But there's a more immediate way to get to be a Judge! Prophylaxis's resignation has left me as the only available League Judge, and for a variety of reasons beginning with but not limited to my perpetually unreliable Internet access the Council and I find this a problematic situation. As such, effective immediately, the League is taking applications for additional League Judges for this season. Any applicants who are or were playing in XKCD will become a League Judge after XKCD scores are finalized; all other applicants can start ASAP. Ideally, we'd like two to four more judges with experience playing on MTGS. Note that there is a fairly good chance that one of the new Judges will have the chance to ascend to Head Judge at the start of next season or shortly afterwards.

In unrelated news, the Mafia League is actively considering somewhat more complex setups to possibly run as the final game of the League season as an end-of-season celebration and to give our League players a slightly different challenge. We're looking for a game on the borderline between Normal and Specialty complexity, ideally either a higher-powered (but not role madness) game with strong flavor or a Specialty that is reasonably normal except for a somewhat unusual core mechanic (think announced multiple factions, Gatecrash's guild mechanic, or Goo Mafia's core mechanic, or any number of petroleumjelly games for those of you familiar with MafiaScum).

Honestly, the normals should just be considered league games but anyone in the community can play. They're relatively easy to score, and are the easiest to balance.
I still think the League should be a series of league-only F9 games, but I've always been shot down on that. I feel the smaller games means a tighter clustering of scores, allows for quicker turnaround, and removing neutral and SK play means simpler scoring. Lets the player's ability shine through because every game is very similar. Then again, I always liked playing basics and a lot of people lose interest fast.

Emo piñata is Mafia in this thread, he used the language tell!
Should have put this up earlier, but now is as good a time as any: If you would like to become a League Judge for this season, please send the Head Judge (me) a PM stating that you would like to become a Judge). Again, any Judge applicants playing in XKCD (i.e, such as Generic if he applies) will enter after XKCD is scored (unless your application is rejected, which is unlikely at the moment since beggars can't be choosers); all other applicants will become a Judge as soon as all technical issues are worked out.
If you need another judge, I can judge too.
I tend to enjoy smaller games more than bigger ones anyways
But... Wouldn't it be good to launch a non-league normal too once in a while?
We may look into running a non-League normal after the end of the season (similarly to how Return to Ravnica ran between the beta season and Season 1), though as things stand it might have to be another relatively high-complexity Normal/low-end Specialty given the current length of the Normal queue. If I see enough interest (and enough setups to run), I could also look at trying to get a floating Normal queue set up to handle the occasional Normal outside of the League (i.e, something like a thread where players post "I would like to play in a non-League normal" and if there's enough interested players and there's no League signups going on then the next Normal fires as a non-League game.).
Honestly, the normals should just be considered league games but anyone in the community can play. They're relatively easy to score, and are the easiest to balance.

I see two arguments against this, one minor and one major:
A) Minor: Setup analysis is not the most important skill in Mafia, but it is a skill, and running a completely open setup cuts most of that skill out of the game. (There's also a small subset of players who really like that part of the game - I should know, I'm one of them - and will be less interested if it is removed.)
B) Major: In my experience (both on MTGS and on MafiaScum*), only a relatively small (albeit vocal) portion of the Mafia playerbase likes playing low-flavor, low-complexity normal setups repeatedly, especially once they've stuck their foot into the water and gotten used to the game - I'd estimate no more than 20% of players would be interested in a League consisting of only F9 games, which isn't enough to run a League given our current playerbase.
* - On MafiaScum, this kind of argument tends to center even more on Mini Normals (roughly equivalent to an MTGS Basic, except until very recently they could not have any specific flavor); the main issue there is that MafiaScum's queue system funnels new mods into hosting Mini Normals, but the portion of the playerbase that likes Mini Normals is small enough that the Mini Normal mod queue consistently stagnates.
I think once this season of the League ends, I'll be taking a brief hiatus from Mafia. It's become more of a chore than anything and is sucking up a lot of free time I just don't have these days. I'll still be active in the sub, I just won't be playing until I get that hankering again.

I'm going to jump on the last two comments despite it being three weeks later to announce my own mafia retirement. I think I've fully qualified for the final league score so I'm not sure if I should be left on or not. Up to the judges I guess. I probably won't be watching for the end of the season.
My own retirement is also probably more permanent than Iso's. I don't see myself coming back for quite some time, if at all.

In addition, I realized that we did not award MVP points for Archer, so I've decided to apply them now. We decided on Wheat_Grinder and Cyan (once again).
Scores have been updated. We should send out reviews in the next week or two, so stay tuned.
Went from best score to worst.
Further proof that that was the worst game of mafia I've ever played in my entire life.
EDIT: And yet Archer went so well that I'm still top 3.
resigning HEAD LEAGUE JUDGE DUTIES effective immediately.
It is too late for the pebbles to vote."

I tend to enjoy smaller games more than bigger ones anyways
But... Wouldn't it be good to launch a non-league normal too once in a while?
I still think the League should be a series of league-only F9 games, but I've always been shot down on that. I feel the smaller games means a tighter clustering of scores, allows for quicker turnaround, and removing neutral and SK play means simpler scoring. Lets the player's ability shine through because every game is very similar. Then again, I always liked playing basics and a lot of people lose interest fast.
There's not enough player interest in Normals to do this. Which is part of the reason we made Normals into the League standard, honestly.

I don't know how many would get that one.

---
I see two arguments against this, one minor and one major:

My own retirement is also probably more permanent than Iso's. I don't see myself coming back for quite some time, if at all.
I will miss playing with some of you.
That is a lot of us in a short period of time.
