"Strewth!" bellowed Archchancellor Mustrum Ridcully. "You chaps had bloody well better explain this."
Just after the staff of Ankh-Morpork's Unseen University stepped, waddled, complained, and generally grumbled its way into the Archchancellor's chambers, there was a collective holding of breath. Not because of the generally bad diets of the assembled wizards (for this was treated as a given at this point) but because of the spectacle that presented itself within.
This was certainly no Assassin's Guild attempt on the Archchancellor's life. No assassin would have bothered to set up this number of traps. Walls were covered in arrows, bottles of what had once been fine liquors had been eaten away by the acid that someone had filled them with, and various spots around the room were badly singed. Looking at the patterns of black marks on the walls was a bit like looking up at the clouds above Ankh-Morpork; you could, if you were determined, make out patterns that looked like various animals, and it would probably be dangerous to stare open-mouthed for too long.
"Now I've had attempts on my life before," said Archchancellor Ridcully, extinguishing a burning arrow by twisting his wiry beard around it, "but this one takes the cake. All three courses of cake. You gentlemen are the finest minds on the Disc, or so we tell the commoners who get all fussy about us occasionally fusing their arms to their foreheads when things get a bit iffy spell-wise. Jolly well hop along to the dining hall and stay there until you've figured out who's responsible!"
While an order to stay in the dining hall was usually akin to a summons to Valhalla for most wizards, the senior faculty was a bit nonplussed. It was clear to everyone that this attempt could not have been the work anyone but a fellow wizard. It was also clear that it couldn't have just been one wizard; on his own, a wizard's ambition to climb the ranks by murder, as was done in the old days, is generally quashed in this day and age by the remarkable vitality and seeming invulnerability of the current Archchancellor, who, in an unprecedented turn of events, turned out to be rather in shape compared to pretty much any wizard hired on to the University in the last hundred years. Only with the help of others could a wizard overcome the natural inclination to avoid being at the wrong end of the Archchancellor's crossbow.
It seemed, therefore, that the only way to root out the cadre of traitors would be to systematically eliminate suspects one at a time until the matter was settled. While democracy is a foreign idea to most citizens of Ankh-Morpork, the staff of Unseen University knew it for what it really was: an organized method for quibbling about minutia and fretting over things that, in the end, probably didn't matter. Since the faculty could all be considered world experts in those subjects, they chose to adopt a democratic system for the time and attempt to excise the cancer that threatened their pleasant five-meal-a-day equilibrium.
Hello! I'm Raging Levine, and this is Unseen University Mafia, a Basic game for 12 players. This game was reviewed and approved by ZeDorkSlipeur. Discworld flavor knowledge is not required to be part of this game. Gaming the mod based on the flavor (or really anything else) will, at best, be useless. At worst, it will be detrimental to your team. Be warned.
As with any other game of mafia, there are rules to be followed. Make sure you're aware of them before you sign up by reading them here:
*In the words of Ali G, respek is important. Be respectful of your fellow players. Blatant or repeated flaming or disrespect of your fellow players or me may result in a modkill.
*Please follow all of the MTGSalvation rules and specific Mafia forum rules while playing this game.
*Do not thank posts in this game, even if you are not playing in it.
*Do not talk about this game outside the thread at all, for any reason, with anyone except me.
*When you are dead, do not post. Do not even post a "Bah!" post.
*Your role PM is not something you should quote. If you quote your role PM exactly or even paraphrase in a way that is too close to quoting, you will be modkilled. If you are worried that your roleclaim would get you modkilled, please PM it to me before voting.
*Similarly, do not quote any game-related PMs you receive from me in this thread.
*Do not ask anyone to quote their role PM or attempt to bait them into quoting their role PM. You will be modkilled if you do this.
VOTING AND LYNCHING
*Bold your votes and unvotes or they will not be counted.
*Unvote before revoting, or your vote will not change.
*Lynches require a simple majority of votes. Once a player reaches a simple majority, twilight begins, and further votes, unvotes, or game actions before night starts will not count.
*If you wish to end the day without a lynch, you may Vote: No Lynch. If a simple majority of players votes No Lynch, the day will end without a lynch.
*Do not edit or delete your posts. Do not even speed-edit. This will get you modkilled.
*If you foresee that you will be away for 48 hours or more without the ability to post, please post in the thread to let us know. Please bold this: "V/LA" in that post. ("V/LA" stands for "Vacation/Limited Access")
*If you do not post for 72 hours without declaring V/LA, you will be prodded. Failure to respond to this prod by posting content will result in replacement or modkill. Three prods will get you replaced or modkilled.
*Send your night actions to me by PM (or, if appropriate, in the Mafia quicktopic) before the deadline. Late submissions will not be accepted.
*The order of night actions is as follows (stolen from MandersHex):
2. Controlling another player's actions
3. First strike non-killing actions
4. Gaining actions
5. Losing actions
6. Redirecting / replacement effects
9. Rescuing / Reviving
10. Sending items or messages
11. First strike killing actions
12. Killing actions
13. Gathering information
14. Anything else
Nothing will ever be handled in "timestamp" order.
OTHER MOD ACTIONS
*I will try to post votecounts once a day.
*If you would like to request a prod or votecount, please do so in the thread and in bold.
The town win condition is "You win when all the mafia are dead."
The scum win condition is "You win when the mafia equal or outnumber the town."

pikachugundam, Chair of Indefinite Studies, Vanilla Town, lynched Day 1
Wessel, The Librarian, Town Cop, fireballed Night 1
Lord_McDonalds, Lecturer in Recent Runes, Town Bodyguard,, lynched Day 2
AtheistGod, Windle Poons, Vanilla Town, torn to bits Night 2
This means that if Eron is scum (which I said 3 times, therefore it must be true), AtheistGod is his scumbuddy because their scumteam is low on funds - thus he is trying to get Eron's $20 back. AtheistGod is offering his "services", an obvious breadcrumb that he is the mafia Roleblocker. It all makes sense, now.
