I've reread, and not much of anyhting jumps out at me from other people right now. Waiting on FO to defend himself and daz to post. I do agree with Iso regarding PG and LMNOP, though: content.
Actually, here's a question for PG: You said earlier during RVS that Tom's play reminded you of Stardust from KoTH. Would it be possible for you to go more into what specifically reminded you of that?
I'm here. I'll reread the last week of posts tomorrow and post tomorrow since there is apparently something that I'm supposed to defend myself against...
Lord_McDonalds - Null. Hasn't posted much.
AtheistGod - Leaning town. For trying to get somewhere.
EtR - Null. Hasn't posted much.
dazbog_eaterofsouls - Null. Hasn't posted at all.
Misting - Leaning town. Ended RVS with good explainings.
Wessel - Leaning town. For scumhunting.
Tom - Leaning town. For trying to get somewhere.
Ellemenno P - Null. Hasn't posted much
Forgotten One - Leaning scum. Posts look like scumhunting, but feels more like ad hom.
Rhand - Leaning scum. Reading way too much into everything.
Iso - Leaning town. For Scumhunting.
Lord_McDonalds - Null (no content)
AtheistGod - Leaning town for scumhunting
EtR - Null (no content)
dazbog_eaterofsouls - Null (no content)
Misting - Leaning town. I was convinced he was scum when he posted the Iso-cop thing, but his reasons were good. Since then very good posts.
Wessel - Leaning scum for the reaction on Misting's post.
Tom - Very town for good questioning and analysing
Ellemenno P - Leaning scum. Not many posts, but I don't like the posts he does make.
Forgotten One - probably scum. He supports the mass claim and posts in a defensive-agressive way.
Iso - Null. Seriously, how do you read this guy?
Pikachugundam - Null. Hardly any content apart from an endless custard discussion.

I'm 50/50 on mass Day 1 T/S lists. On one hand, it tells the scum exactly who their biggest threats are. On the other hand, I solved my very first Mafia game by getting everyone to post a T/S list. Incidentally, the town lost because they didn't listen to me in that game. That said, if there's enough people in favor, I have no problem with posting one.

Okay, so from the moment I made my gambit post, you knew what I was doing, and jumped on me before I explained to get me to move along, correct?
No, I didn't jump on you. I actually posted right after you and totally blew you off because I actually found it a bit funny.
Because no one was taking the bait?
No, nobody took the bait. Taking the bait would have been voting for you for trying to out the cop or for making a jump to RVS Lurking=Obv scum.
The problem is, in your own post, you said the game was stagnating because people needed to hear from me. Why? Because Iso had jumped on me, Wessel was questioning, and others were questioning them. That is anything but "no one taking the bait", and it most certainly worked.
It looked like to me that everyone else was wondering what you were trying to do. This is how I saw things at the time.
Iso defended his post count and votes for you in Post #90. So far, this is the only negative reaction you have actually gotten from your little so-called gambit. What I took away from it is that apparently Iso posts a lot all the time, which is actually quite easy to verify by just looking at 1 or 2 past games.
Rhand questions why Iso voted you in Post #103, which Iso responds to in Post #105 essentially restating that his vote was serious as he intimated in Post #98. In essence, I see Iso calling you out on your BS.
Wessel questions you in Post #104, Iso wants to know why Wessel was asking AFTER you post in Post #110. This is the first thing we are waiting for at this point...
Tom asks Iso about his vote in Post #113, and Iso tells him to wait in Post #114. I presumed that this was until after you answered Wessel's question, so this is the second thing we are waiting for.
Wessel then complete the loop in Post #116 wanting to know why Tom was asking. This is the third thing we are waiting for at this point.
So now Tom, Wessel, and Iso are all essentially waiting on each other to answer each others question and this is essentially because haven't answered Wessel's question in Post #104. So in Post #119, I get back to the root of the issue and reiterate Wessel's original question hoping that you would finally respond to it.
If your goal was to make Iso, Wessel, and Tom into three unwitting participants in a parody of "Who's On First", the you can say it worked... All I see are a bunch of people questioning your motives, not attacking your argument.
Also, you saying "everyone I knows see's right through it", while providing no evidence is, to me, an attempt to make the town feel insecure about their own abilities and position.
Total mischaracterization. First, There is no evidence to be provided for that kind of statement, so attacking me for not providing any is absurd. Second, it is total speculation to say that what I said had any effect on the Town, much less making people feel insecure... In my experience, Townies don't make mountains out of molehills like that.
How have I mischaracterized your reactions? You have never said this before, you have revealed nothing in my posting which is "demonstrably false"
I'll go back and do a PBPA from Post #119 on in a minute, but the statement above (regarding making the Town feel insecure) is a perfect example.
and if you were town you would not be content with sitting on a vote while asking no questions.
Total WIFOM and mischaracterization. I said I didn't need to ask YOU any questions. I'm fairly convinced that you are scum, and I'm standing by it; that's not scummy.
So here's one: Kpaca pulled this "crap" D1 a bunch, did he? How much, and what was his alignment?
He did pretty much every game I was ever in with him, and the two or three that stick out in my mind he was scum every time he overreacted to the various responses. This is exactly what you are doing.
Tell me, Forgotten One (great name for Mafia btw), what would the townie response be in your opinion if he or she was in the position of Misting, right after the moment that person came clean on the gambit?
Be honest. He calls my asking for him to come out and explain himself as "opportunistic" when I'm not even attacking him, and says that I've never mentioned his gambit before then even though I actually did almost immediately after. That's scummy.
And you asking that question doesn't sit very well with me at all. You've been playing this game long enough to know that there is no such thing as something that is purely a townie response or a purely mafia response. This feels purely like bait...
@Name Claim: It wouldn't do me any good since I don't know the flavor.
Somebody else said the same thing earlier and I meant to say something abou tit then. We all have the internet, making us all experts in Unseen University in about 2 minutes. There have been plenty of games where I don't know anything about the flavor and a mass name claim has helped.
After a small reread (the game is not so large, so it's easy to do), I feel most strongly against Forgotten One. I agree with Iso that by doubling-down on Misting he's showing he's forcing the attack against him.
Vote Forgotten One.
If you want an oppotunistic post, this is it. He's barning Iso and jumping on the bandwagon.
I'll go back and do that PBPA on Misting here in a minute.
I don't like this post. It strikes me as very opportunistic, especially considering he had made several posts after my gambit with no mention of it, including one which responds to me. Unvote, Vote: Forgotten One
Why the wait?
I already went into this, but calling my post opportunistic is ridiculous and stating that I never mentioned your gambit is false.
Okay, seriously, don't continue this argument until you go back and read my big explanation and following posts, which you have clearly not. I'll take you questions when you have done so.
Again, he says I didn't read his explanation, which is obviously not correct.
The other miscahracterizations was where you said I "jumped on you", which I didn't. Trying to pass it off as such ignores the fact that someone reading my posts without an agenda would not see things that way.
Everything else, I covered in the previous post.
And not to deflect attention from me right now, but I think our bigger problem is that we have 5-6 people right now that are totally lurking. I admit that between Christmas and New Years I was one of them, but I don't think anyone would say that I haven't posted content.
I think T/S lists are good things, but not with this many lurkers or on Day 1. I think that if you ask the lurkers who their T/S lists would be, you might get somewhere and get them engaged. I have a sneaky suspicion that its not going to really help right now. I would prefer a mass name claim...
@FO: A mass name claim on Day 1 tho? Since flavor gaming is not really suppose to work, how would it be helpful?
1) If scum have obviously evil characters, then they are forced to false name claim which can sometimes out them if they do it poorly.
2) Once someone name claims, the eventual ability claim that comes later has context. Sometimes the nail in the coffin is when scum false claim an ability that either doesn't make flavor-sense or it makes flavor-sense but overlaps with another player's ability.
3) It allows for a bit of setup speculation. When all else fails, game the Mod
Looking at the Unseen Mafia Wikipedia page, it doesn't look like #1 is an option unless I'm missing something.
If we are looking for discussion, game setup and character claims can help.

Actually most games I played with kpaca were on MTG:News, but there is a classic case of kpaca being scum and trying to pull a Day 1 "act scummy and point fingers at anyone who asks what you are doing" on MTG:Darkness that can be read here.
No, I didn't jump on you. I actually posted right after you and totally blew you off because I actually found it a bit funny. Perhaps you misunderstood me. When I refer to my "gambit post", I'm refering to the one in which I labeled Iso cop as a gambit.
Because no one was taking the bait?
No, nobody took the bait. Taking the bait would have been voting for you for trying to out the cop or for making a jump to RVS Lurking=Obv scum. Like what Iso did?

Also, you saying "everyone I knows see's right through it", while providing no evidence is, to me, an attempt to make the town feel insecure about their own abilities and position.
Total mischaracterization. First, There is no evidence to be provided for that kind of statement, so attacking me for not providing any is absurd. Second, it is total speculation to say that what I said had any effect on the Town, much less making people feel insecure... In my experience, Townies don't make mountains out of molehills like that. My point was, what was the point of saying "everyone you know", when the people in this game are not "everyone you know"? Refering to them is comparing them to the other players as if they know more, which mabye they do, but that has no bearing on the argument. The only explanation I can see for that is an attempt to cow the town into following what "everyone you know" would have done. And I'm not saying that you suceeded, but that it was an attempt. But please, give me your reason.
How have I mischaracterized your reactions? You have never said this before, you have revealed nothing in my posting which is "demonstrably false"

He did pretty much every game I was ever in with him, and the two or three that stick out in my mind he was scum every time he overreacted to the various responses. This is exactly what you are doing. I'm assuming by this statement you are saying he has done this as town, right? So you admit by this that the action itself, that is the gambit and reveal, is not an action only taken by scum. Which, incidentally, is what you were originally voting me on.
I saw your post as agressive and opportunistic, but I'll get back to this later. And I’m not counting your Ryooki post as a response, since you were clearly joking (you admit this later) and not actually saying anything about it? And you asking that question doesn't sit very well with me at all. You've been playing this game long enough to know that there is no such thing as something that is purely a townie response or a purely mafia response. This feels purely like bait...

I already went into this, but calling my post opportunistic is ridiculous and stating that I never mentioned your gambit is false. First part I’ll get too, second see above.
I'll be the first to say I have arrogance issues, but don't pass it off as garbage if you haven't read it.
Says I didn't read his post, which is ridiculous.. You said you didn’t read it too! Or do you not know what tl;dr means? If you really read it and understood what I was saying, then your other comments made no sense. Your original response to my reveal was you saying you didn’t know what I thought worked (was the whole point of my post) and that its garbage and I’ve got arrogance issues. That’s not a response from someone who read it.
Okay, seriously, don't continue this argument until you go back and read my big explanation and following posts, which you have clearly not. I'll take you questions when you have done so.
Again, he says I didn't read his explanation, which is obviously not correct. See above. You did the same thing again there, and “Oh and a I love the part about how Iso is either overposting to cover for his scumbuddies or he's the Cop... that's gold” is a statement from someone who does not understand what I’m saying; that my labeling Iso was a gambit and I never actually meant it. My reveal, IF you had read it/examined it as you would need to to make a judgment or case, then you would have gotten that. The other miscahracterizations was where you said I "jumped on you", which I didn't. Trying to pass it off as such ignores the fact that someone reading my posts without an agenda would not see things that way. You say you didn’t jump on me. That’s what I saw you doing at the time. I read “What’s the story with this post” as accusatory, along the lines of why Iso was voting me at the time. However, that is no longer the reason I am voting you. That placed my original voting, but your posts since have made it stay. Everything else, I covered in the previous post. And not to deflect attention from me right now, but I think our bigger problem is that we have 5-6 people right now that are totally lurking. I thought your proposal of a mass-claim was RVS joking.
Are you serious about this?
If the picking of characters is thought through lore-wise, this can reveal the PR's to the scum. I don't want to risk losing a doc or a cop or something just for the sake of ending RVS.
I read a lot of Discworld novels. This will not help tracking scum in any way because every wizard in the Unseen University wants the headmaster dead to take his place.
The only ones that can get useful info out of this is the scum, so I am against a mass name claim.
Do you have a reason why we should do this, apart from giving us a discussion point, Iso?
I like this post. It shows good reasoning on why we shouldn't name claim. Town Point -1
Anyway, I have no problem with a mass name-claim (to be 100% clear, this means we claim our names not our abilities). Sometimes it helps when players get to L-2 and have to claim, because their claimed character pins them into what they can claim ability-wise.
While I don't like the agreement to a claim, the reasoning is sound so I don't have a problem here.
@Misting: Depends on which part of your statement you're referring to. Care to clarify?
I'm refering to "Could be covering..." onwards.
In that case, yes, it does make anything you say regarding my postcount completely invalid. (I initially said something infraction-worthy here, but decided to tone it down just because people like it better when I play nice.) If you'd like, I'll dig up my postcounts in every single game I've been in, along with how many posts were in that game overall, my alignment, and what # I was in regards to "most prolific poster" in that game.
Quote from Misting »
I don't see the point of a mass claim rights now. What sort of discussion are you hoping to gain by it, Iso?
Any, given that at the time, no one was doing anything worth mention. However, I think we're starting to get somewhere. Unvote, Vote Misting
Glad you think we're getting somewhere. That means that my (surprise!) RVS-killer worked; i.e. post 50. Wessel caught on with the Basic 66/DJ comment. I am well aware that post-count alone is good for nothing, and doesn't say a thing about alignment/role to me. That should answer Wessel here.
@Misting: What made you think Iso is cop for his posting style? Alternatively, why do you think his high amount of posting is likely to be because he's covering for his scum buddies?
So, for those of you who we're not in/did not read Basic 66, here's what I did: In that game, DJ made post 19, which came under a bunch of scrutiny for cop labeling. What I have done is take that post and copy it, changing up the names. Seriously, read his post and compare it to mine. My intent was to see if 1) I could garner similar reactions and thus end RVS, and 2) see how people who we're in that game (Wessel and LMcD, though I don't think the later got it) reacted. It should be noted that when I made that post was the only time it would have worked, as there were three non-posters and one who was posting more.
I'll start with 2: Wessel
Same sort of caution as he gave in 66. Not sure why, having made his comment, he did not follow through on it. Given that, townie points to Wessel for the caution itself and reacting the same.
As for the rest, Iso was the first to attack me, and pretty much for the reasons (I think) that I would have thought. The one thing that concerns me is this: The original post (at least when I read it) gives a sense of "I don't know what the posting means. It could be this, it could be that, it could be anything". That is in fact how DJ had meant it. Iso seems to immediatly assume that it is an attack, though, which makes me think he's worried/thinking about that a lot, which is a scum mindset. It's weak, though, and Iso remains neurtal to me.
Tom gets townie points to me for questioning Iso like he did, and only FO really stands out to me besides.
What was townie about Tom's posting? I agree with your Wessel comments and not so much with the Iso one.
@Misting: My initial impression of your gambit post was that you were just town trying to get reactions. I didn't even think about that post having to do with fishing for role info, however.
I don't see the point of a mass claim rights now. What sort of discussion are you hoping to gain by it, Iso?
Any, given that at the time, no one was doing anything worth mention. However, I think we're starting to get somewhere.
Unvote, Vote Misting
This stood out to me when I read it.
"given that at the time, no one was doing anything worth mention." This feels really out of place. We were in RVS, a point in the game where people almost never do anything worth mentioning, but this reads like Iso was expecting the opposite.
Clearly it shows that Iso was trying to rush RVS to a closing point, and I didn't know what to think about that. I've never seen RVS as a bad thing. That's the reasoning behind the questions I asked him about RVS; I was trying to understand his motives and I was also seeing if I could catch him in a contradiction.
His answers were satisfying, but what I don't like is his being overly defensive (125, 127).
And of course I hate that he broke the bowl of custard. I still got a little of the ground via the 5 second rule, but the rest... what a waste.
But it worked, didn't it? Granted, I've only completed one game, but sarcasm? How so?
@Your tl;dr: I highly suggest it. I'll be the first to say I have arrogance issues, but don't pass it off as garbage if you haven't read it.
You had to have been sarcastic in order to a) call out Iso as scummy for posting too much, then b) call out three other players as a "lurking scumteam" for posting too little... that's why I sarcastically remarked how you "Ryo0okied" the game.
Oh and a I love the part about how Iso is either overposting to cover for his scumbuddies or he's the Cop... that's gold.
And I'm not sure what you think "worked". You do something scummy, people want to know what you were trying to say, and you turn around and say "Look it worked!". What did you expect people to do, just ignore you?
Here, you can try this one on for size: Unvote, Vote: Misting
So, I played in the Basic 66 and this is the same thing that DJ did in the beginning of the game, which also resulted in him being under heavy suspicion the whole game...until he was lynched. So, I'm not sure why he opted to go this route. I would encourage folks to look at 66 as a point of reference though.
This seems diversionary. Being against a mass claim isn't scummy, but the way he argues it could easily be scum trying to divert people.
To clarify why I felt that the first quote could be diverting, the reaction to a mass name claim seemed over the top. Such a reaction seems like someone that absolutely does not want a mass name claim and is trying to prevent people from even considering it.
Ahhhh, ok. I don't agree here, but I accept your reasoning.
You had to have been sarcastic in order to a) call out Iso as scummy for posting too much, then b) call out three other players as a "lurking scumteam" for posting too little... that's why I sarcastically remarked how you "Ryo0okied" the game.
Eh, I wouldn't use sarcastic to describe that in that case, but that's just semantics.
Then you should look up the meaning of the word sarcastic...
Okay, seriously, don't continue this argument until you go back and read my big explanation and following posts, which you have clearly not. I'll take you questions when you have done so.
I have read everything you posted, and to be honest I already knew what you were trying to do before you even explained it. It was blatantly obvious attempt to say something scummy and wait for people to jump on you about it. Its one of the oldest WIFOM tricks in the book and I haven't seen it work in years because everyone I know sees right through it. Kpaca used to try and pull this kind of crap all the time on Day 1 just to stir the pot. I was tired of waiting for it to play out because it wasn't going anywhere and nobody was taking the bait.
My vote isn't moving from Misting. People who set traps or run gambits I'm always a little leery of, but those who completely mischaracterize the reactions to those gambits are scum. Everything that Misting has written about my reaction to him is demonstrably false. I don't need to ask him any more questions because I already know what I need to know.
As I pointed out before, a mass name claim won't help us.
Every wizard wants the headmaster dead.
I do like the idea of mass t/s lists because it provides us much-needed content.
I don't have a problem with them, but I think at this point there aren't enough reads to go around.
Alright so 17 pages down and not a lot to go on. I am leaning Forgotten One as scum at this point, but I don't know if it's because I think he's scum or he just seems to be the scummiest of the 5 people that were playing so far. If we got in a deadline situation that's where I would put my vote at this time.
Also, Unvote Iso <-- RVS vote that never got recorded.

It's anti-town to ask someone for reasons why he thinks he might have found a cop.
When I asked Wessel his reason for asking Misting why Iso might be cop, his answer was that he was counting on Misting's intelligence not to answer that question.
I'm not satisfied with that answer, and have Wessel leaning scum for it.

What was townie about Tom's posting? I agree with your Wessel comments and not so much with the Iso one.

So, I'm not sure why he opted to go this route. I would encourage folks to look at 66 as a point of reference though.
Me having made what most would consider a scummy post, Tom's reaction is not to jump on me for it, but question the one who did. This to me is evidence of a cautious mindset of the town variety.
@Msting: You couldn't have put 'Bolding mine' at the top or maybe done it like EtR?
I apologize for that. I don't usually respond in that manner, but I didn't have time to do it the usual way, nor do I have time at the moment to fix it. I'll do it as soon as I can, and until then you'll just have to work with it as is. My apologies to people like Iso who simply can't read it in it's current state.

I have to agree with AthiestGod, Rhand's post against the mass name claim definitely seems suspicious. That being said, I do have to agree with him that a name claim would not be useful because even with the little knowledge of the flavor I have, I know that everyone wants the headmaster dead so names would probably not matter.
This was LMNOP's only post with content and it's just kinda parroting AG.
I'm gonna Vote LMNOP at this time.

Actually, here's a question for PG: You said earlier during RVS that Tom's play reminded you of Stardust from KoTH. Would it be possible for you to go more into what specifically reminded you of that?
Fixed. Apologies.

No, I didn't jump on you. I actually posted right after you and totally blew you off because I actually found it a bit funny.
No, nobody took the bait. Taking the bait would have been voting for you for trying to out the cop or for making a jump to RVS Lurking=Obv scum.
I'll go back and do a PBPA from Post #119 on in a minute, but the statement above (regarding making the Town feel insecure) is a perfect example.
Total WIFOM and mischaracterization. I said I didn't need to ask YOU any questions. I'm fairly convinced that you are scum, and I'm standing by it; that's not scummy.
He did pretty much every game I was ever in with him, and the two or three that stick out in my mind he was scum every time he overreacted to the various responses. This is exactly what you are doing.
Somebody else said the same thing earlier and I meant to say something abou tit then. We all have the internet, making us all experts in Unseen University in about 2 minutes. There have been plenty of games where I don't know anything about the flavor and a mass name claim has helped.
I'm going to be very disappointed if you are Town and you really feel this way.
If you want an oppotunistic post, this is it. He's barning Iso and jumping on the bandwagon.
I'll go back and do that PBPA on Misting here in a minute.
Jalira, Master Polymorphist | Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder | Bosh, Iron Golem | Ezuri, Renegade Leader
Brago, King Eternal | Oona, Queen of the Fae | Wort, Boggart Auntie | Wort, the Raidmother

Uril, the Miststalker | Prossh, Skyraider of Kher | Nicol Bolas | Progenitus
Ghave, Guru of Spores | Zedruu the Greathearted | Damia, Sage of Stone | Riku of Two Reflections
I already went into this, but calling my post opportunistic is ridiculous and stating that I never mentioned your gambit is false.
Says I didn't read his post, which is ridiculous..

I do like the idea of mass t/s lists because it provides us much-needed content.
Actually most games I played with kpaca were on MTG:News, but there is a classic case of kpaca being scum and trying to pull a Day 1 "act scummy and point fingers at anyone who asks what you are doing" on MTG:Darkness that can be read here.

Iso ending trying to end RVS...I wonder if he takes any crap for this.
I like this post. It shows good reasoning on why we shouldn't name claim. Town Point -1
While I don't like the agreement to a claim, the reasoning is sound so I don't have a problem here.
I see what you did there...
I don't understand this line of questioning on Iso. What did you hope to get here? If you ended up answering this, please disregard.

@Rhand: So why do you think that Wessel is scum again? I don't see how his reaction to Misting is scummy. Can you please explain?

When I asked Wessel his reason for asking Misting why Iso might be cop, his answer was that he was counting on Misting's intelligence not to answer that question.
I'm not satisfied with that answer, and have Wessel leaning scum for it.

Yes, but Misting had good reasoning and was in reality outing no one.

Me having made what most would consider a scummy post, Tom's reaction is not to jump on me for it, but question the one who did. This to me is evidence of a cautious mindset of the town variety.
FTR: DJ was NK'd by the mafia, not lynched.
I apologize for that. I don't usually respond in that manner, but I didn't have time to do it the usual way, nor do I have time at the moment to fix it. I'll do it as soon as I can, and until then you'll just have to work with it as is. My apologies to people like Iso who simply can't read it in it's current state.

The machine grunted, whirred, and audibly squeaked in response to the Archchancellor's query. The fiddly bits fiddled, the wobbly bits wobbled, and the negative-time ants had aunts. Finally, it produced a result:

With 12 alive, it is 7 to lynch.
Ellemenno P has been prodded (no posts since 12/29)
This was LMNOP's only post with content and it's just kinda parroting AG.
I'm gonna Vote LMNOP at this time.
