KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
Once is a guilty pleasure of mine. The show is secretly about Regina, as she's the only person with actual emotional growth on the show (except for Emma in the Season finale, who does three seasons worth of growth in two episodes).
As far as the tease:
I don't know. I don't think they really planned for that much at all. I mean, it was just a random object they introduced last minute to have some additional tension for next season. It's very clearly an interest-generating ploy rather than an actual hook they had planned for a while. Seasons 1 and 2 had good hooks (the return of magic, Neverland and Pan being tied to the villains - even if those villains were epic level dumbasses), this one didn't feel set up at all. Are we looking at more half season villains? I honestly don't mind, I much prefer a shorter story arc than American Television allows.
Just because I like the show doesn't actually make the show good. There is too little character growth on the show (and the growth they have they frequently backtrack on the regular) and waaaaaaay too many Deus Ex Machina for me to take the show seriously. Characters having to act like idiots for there to be any real tension does not make for a compelling story. I consider it like a PG version of True Blood: spectacle and craziness that I just can't stop watching.

My god, once upon a time is my guilty pleasure too...and I think the show is all about Regina too.

I'M NOT ALONE ANYMOREEEEEE
Haha, I resisted the show for so long, but eventually started watching it with my parents (when I was still at home saving money for my wedding). My wife and I have been watching it ever since.
I havent watched this season yet... my wife and I really enjoyed the first season where each week you were finding out who a new character was. The season before this where it was all about Peter Pan didn't sit right with us.... we have been taping them to watch later but that Pan season just didn't hold our interest.
I suffered through every episode of that debacle rendition of a classic fantasy tale. We barely got any exposition on Agrabah, so I would have been totally okay with The Genie/Aladdin bringing us back to that world. I'm fairly certain the Cave of Wonders didn't show up in OUaTiW, so that could have been the keystone in OUaT's involvement in Agrabah.
Ugh, Wonderland. My wife and I didn't even finish it. I think we were four episodes from the end? It just... wasn't good. I think the problem is that the Once Upon a Time Formula falls flat during extended adventuring arcs. It's why everyone hated the Neverland arc. Once's hook (:rimshot:) is the drama between characters, we forgive the bad CG because we like seeing character chew scenery and see fantasy characters interact with the modern world. The short snippets of the past in 'flashbacks' are fine because they're short and give context to the modern drama.
Once Upon a Time in Wonderland just felt like a cheaper version of a Sci-Fi miniseries.
I did love Jafar, however. But he couldn't carry the show with his delicious evilness. The Knave was good too, I'd enjoy seeing him make the transition to the flagship, but Jafar first.
The one things that really bothered me about Wonderland was the 'Stuck in the 19th Century' world where Alice comes from. If Dorothy comes from 'our' Earth, why is Alice coming from Dickensian World? Especially if the only 'crossover' between the two shows was to establish the Knave as having visited our world.
I actually wondered if it was 'Genie', too, but I'm pretty sure the genies in Wonderland take that role.
Good news is they didn't introduce Aladdin or Jasmine, so they can still show up in the flagship not being tied to the british production.

Most likely is probably actually the Red Queen (and her mother), once Once inevitably gets to Cinderella.

I was confused by that too, but I read somewhere that it was supposed to be an alternate world, another storybook world, like Dr. Frankenstein's. (I just realized: we still don't know why Frankenstein was in the Enchanted Forest when the curse hit.)
And to be fair, it's never actually established that Dorothy is from "our" Earth. The Darling kids definitely are, though.
Short answer: the writers needed it. You have to admit, on neither show does the team place logic in high priority. (How the heck does aging work for these guys?)

That's fair. And you're right about Dorothy, she might be from Depression-Era America world for all we know.
Timing-wise, however, it would make sense. They're really fuzzy with the timeline (for obvious reasons), but it's pretty clear that Curse happened in the Early to mid 80's. Emma is 'about' 30, and she had Henry when she was relatively young. This meant all the Enchanted forest people were frozen in the 80's, and are actually 30 years older than they should be. Even assuming all the fairy tale people live longer than they should, we know Neil left the Enchanted forest when he was in his early teens, came to early 19th Century London and promptly got carted off to Neverland for what must have been about 100+ years, before coming back to our Earth in time to be about the same age as Emma. The Dorothy plot had to have happened somewhere between those two events, as Rumple had not yet started interfering in events when Cora was with Leopold (as Cora had no magic yet). And I've got a nosebleed.
And good catch with Frankenstein. Last we saw him pre-curse, he couldn't bring himself to kill his brother. I'm pretty sure the writers have forgotten, or are holding it back for when they need to fill an episode.
Apparently Will Scarlet, AKA the Knave, will be coming to the main Once Upon a Time show. I never finished Wonderland, do they resolve his character arc?
I recently started watching season 1 on Netflix. I'm about 8 episodes in and am already a Regina fan as well. It is a bit disheartening to read your poor reviews of upcoming seasons, but at least it seems like the first one is pretty popular and well executed. So I'm glad I still have the rest of it to enjoy.
I'm no TV watcher, so this show usually just stays out of my radar (Just to clarify: I'm mostly a spoiler reader, so even if I don't watch the shows, I'll at least read the synopsis/spoilers if I'm interested enough). Only knew that OUaT includes all manners of fairy tale characters and that's it.
But that Elsa is still a total surprise for me, and now I find myself reading spoilers left and right
Kinda sad about the scene where she's introduced though; that taking-off-glove part just looks way too cheesy, and I guess the costume department wasn't up to task to mimic her iconic gown (or maybe they tried not to copy too much? But then again, seeing that they specifically brought Elsa instead of some generic blue-skinned ice lady for the Snow Queen, they probably could've tried). Let's hope this scene is at least reshot for the Season 4 premiere.
Anyone still watching? Season 4 is finally over, not that its been all that amazing. The Frozen arc was rather lackluster and the villains getting their happy ending story didn't play out as advertised.
Instead of villains prevailing as villains we got a role reversal. Snow White was the Evil Queen and Regina became the bandit. I wanted OUAT's version of It's a Wonderful Life and got Freaky Friday instead.
However, the finale did give a compelling future for next season, one that I hope the writers won't ruin:
Emma is now the Dark One.

I did NOT expect Elsa to be there. So soon after Frozen came out? That took me by surprise.
How long do you guys think they planned for that?

You obviously didn't pay attention to Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. Then again, few did.
