Sorry about that.
According to Wikipedia, they've got a blonde welsh dude playing Constantine, and he looks fairly accurate to the source material in the promo art.
Hopefully they play the character closer to source as another step up from Keanu's american, repentant catholic, exorcist of the movie. If Constantine isn't a brit, maltheist/humanist magician bastard then they've screwed up again.

“Tell me who you walk with, and I'll tell you who you are.” Esmeralda Santiago Art is life itself.
I'm super psyched about this. Constantine is a great comic character and the Keanu Reeves version didn't do it justice. Glad they're giving this a second go and having this version be more faithful to the original
This appears to be Vertigo Constantine rather than DCU Constantine, but I do hope they can make an exception for Zatanna to show up. It's not like she's likely to be in high demand for the more conventional DC adaptations. I thought the brunette in the trailer might be intended to be her, given the mention of her father, but apparently not.
Huh. Well I know nothing about Constantine aside from the brief encounter I had with him while reading The Sandman, but I'm interested in seeing more.
You should be. Gaiman barely scratched the surface. John Constantine is the granddaddy of all urban fantasy. Stuff like The Dresden Files and Supernatural owe a particularly large debt to him.
But this show really depends so much on the writing. I mean, every show does, but without really snappy wit, Constantine is just a badly-dressed schlub getting kicked around by dark forces he barely comprehends.

While the Keanu Reeves version was really off, I do have to give it credit in that the con at the end was classic Constantine.
I thought the first episode was pretty good. The actual plot was kind of generic, but the themes and characterization were there. Matt Ryan really nailed the title role - snarky and sad, the great humanist misanthrope. As I suspected, though, no cancer sticks.
Also, Helm of Fate. DCU Constantine after all?

Plot was really rushed and had too much to cover in just 40 minutes. I think most of it had to do with them cutting Liv from the main cast last minute after the original pilot got leaked. Realistically, it should've been a back to back 2 episode pilot special. Ryan had the character down pretty much, needs more con man though. The Constantine in the TV show was more reliant on spells as oppose to just being a better strategist. The rest of the cast is really weak though, too heavy even for Ryan to carry. Here's to hoping that the Liv replacement, Zed, will do a better job as Constantine's companion
Helm of Fate and the other items of note in the basement are probably just easter eggs. We could see Zatanna also, but that would be as far as it would go in my opinion.
the show was pretty decent, only complain though is that it has a very heavy Supernatural vibe to the writing but without the duality of the brothers role. i don't see the show lasting long if they use the sidekick of the week formula. (though i could be wrong)

In summation: You are not inherintely superior for using a rogue deck.
I agree that the show is decent. It's not bad, but it's not any better than other, similar shows like Supernatural or Sleepy Hollow.
Pretty much. There have some different strengths and weaknesses, but it really comes down to which you prefer. Constantine has a really strong lead but pretty anemic cast chemistry so far, Supernatural and Sleepy Hollow are kind of the other way around. Constantine and Sleepy Hollow are fresh and new, Supernatural is something of a zombie. Constantine and Supernatural are a bit laid back, Sleepy Hollow is The Most Important And Epic Story Ever.
I stopped watching Sleepy Hollow last season because I got fed up with the plot contrivances, but I tried to get back into it this season, and I think that last distinction is why I ultimately gave up on it again. There was no pacing; it was just high-intensity adventure all the time. And when everything is intense, nothing is. Supernatural is better at pacing itself but perhaps goes too far the other direction, padding things out interminably. Just two episodes in, it's too early to tell how Constantine will handle itself, but it's a good sign that I was kept engaged by the last episode throughout. I also liked Constantine's sympathy for the monsters; it's not something we see much on the other two shows, where it's a safe bet that anything spooky always wants to kill you just because. I hope to see more of that.
There may be just a few complaints about the show's handling of "gypsy magic"...

Between last week's episode and this week's, Constantine is definitely starting to hit its stride. Chas and Zed are still weak points in the series, but Constantine plays off of Papa Midnite and Gary Lester much better.
And what they did with Jim Corrigan tells me there are definite plans for connections to a greater DC universe.
But most importantly, Constantine can apparently now have a cigarette. In his mouth. Lit. While facing the camera.

Constantine remains in contention for a second-season renewal
for NBC it basically means on permanent hiatus, unless there's a fan petition with lots of support mailed to the excec.
and yeah i know that Gotham is Fox, i'm pointing out that there's a much crappier show out there that most likely won't get a second season but at least Fox let the show run before calling a halt of production barely halfway through a season.

Look, I think it's pretty obvious that I like John Constantine and like the show. I'll be disappointed if it goes off the air. But I'm not entitled to the show. NBC is under no obligation to let the show run when they've got no idea whether they'll make any money off of it. And Fox is not a better network because they are selflessly providing Gotham fans with a full season. You've read the article. You know why the situation is different between the two shows. And you can be damn sure Fox only ordered the Gotham season because their data told them it would be worth it. From what I read, it sounds like NBC made a reasonable call on Constantine - cautious, but not unfair. They're still promoting the show, and not screwing around with its timeslot or anything. God knows that networks have sometimes killed shows for stupid and capricious reasons, but I just don't see that here.

With this week's episode, "A Whole World Out There", Constantine has officially crossed the line from being good to being amazing. This is not the first time the show has played a string of horror movie tropes straight until ending on a twist - they did it in "Rage of Caliban". But that was a big swing and a miss. This time, they knocked it right out of the park. It gives us an archetypical slasher film, then gives us a beautiful commentary on that genre, then goes a step further and actually uses that commentary to flesh out the characters, casting them in the light of - of all things - Buddhist philosophy. Crazy good.
Only two more episodes left this season, and while there's still a chance for a second, I wouldn't get my hopes up. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Been hearing rumors around the internet that there is a good chance that if not renewed, it would be moved to Syfy with the title being changed to Hellblazer

Source? Because at first hearing that sounds like wishful thinking to me more than anything else. At the very least, it's highly unlikely they'd retitle the series.

It's been on r/Constantine for a while now in several separate threads, i'm sure the mods would've removed it if it were just wishful thinking.
