Umm.. Don't take this the wrong way, I watched most of the previous season last night during TBS's marathon, and I really, just did not like any of those people... It's like they went OUT OF THEIR WAY to pick the most SOCIALLY AWKWARD people...
...I would've breezed through the competition and not made an enormous fool of myself on national television...
I'm likely to get criticized for my opinion on this show, but seriously, all this does is reinforce negative stereotypes about geek/nerd culture...
I liked it, but I like a lot of reality shows, so I don't know what that says about this one. I remember not liking Virgil much because he seemed kinda arrogant at times, and I was happy about the person who wound up getting crowned king of the nerds.
I would've breezed through the competition and not made an enormous fool of myself on national television...
No, you wouldn't have. You would've been edited to look like a fool at times. That's what reality shows do. They have like 500 hours worth of material to work with and can pick a few seconds out here and there and then edit them to make you look like whatever they want your "character" to look like.
all this does is reinforce negative stereotypes about geek/nerd culture...
Well, I mean are they really negative things about nerd/geek culture? Has there been a shift in the zeitgeist over the past few years where being nerdy is now kinda cool or at least acceptable? (Or maybe it's just that I've come to terms with the fact that I like nerdy things and am cool with that now instead of being embarrassed by it.)
I can't really say. Has culture kinda shifted in that direction, or not so much?

I never really watched the show except for a few parts of a couple of episodes.
I just had to say that Danielle girl...WOW. Can I get nerds who look like that around here?

I think that society has been more excepting of nerd interests over the years. People realized that alot of hobbies were considered nerdy and if they didn't have hobbies their life would be boring. Having alot of hobbies is normal and makes life more fulfilling.
The first season was alright and I'll probably watch this season as well. Its not must see t.v. for me by any means, but it kept me entertained on my nights off (I work third shift, so it gave me something to veg-out to). As far as reality t.v. goes, I'll gladly watch King of the Nerds over nearly every other one (except for SyFy's Face Off; that is the only reality show I set the DVR for).

Come on Plaguefather, you have to know that's how many, non-talent focused reality shows are cast. They intentionally pick certain individuals to increase tension in the household to cause drama to get the ratings; and sometimes, nationwide media exposure = double the ratings! Woo Hoo!
Just look at the 90's MTV's Real World (and I assume its even worse now):
"Let's pair the most stereotypical homosexual we can find with the biggest homophobe";
"Ooh I got one: How about a chauvinistic jock with a borderline-lesbian feminist grrl!"
"Male Whore #3 + Female Whore B= Spinoff!!!! And maybe even a future-future show 16 years from now!" (insert whooping and raising the roof)

Um....are you being serious or sarcastic?
Because it kinda has shifted. The "geek/nerd/dork" culture is a lot more acceptable now than it ever has been. Some of it has to do with the mainstream appeal of the comic-based, blockbuster movies...

They can only make you look like a fool if you let them, if you behave in a way counter-active to that, you can seem like a total bad-ass because there won't even be a couple of seconds in that 500 hours of you doing something completely and utterly stupid...
Like that one girl, "I used my powers of the dark side of the force" in a really STUPID voice and all...
I'm a nerd, but I'm a respectable, normal acting human being. To put it frankly, you wouldn't think me a massive nerd by being around me in everyday life...
A lot of those people on that show seemed Pompous, arrogant, overly-eccentric, nut jobs.

Fair enough.
Still, you'd almost be having to be on your guard 24/7 to make sure you don't slip-up here or there.
For that matter, basic editing can make a regular conversation/discussion, argument or interview, to be taken out of context. We see that a lot in sound bytes from entertainers, sports figures, and politicians.

I definitely agree with those statements; but those were the type of "nerds" they were going for. No doubt they weeded out all the "normal nerds" during preliminary casting. Thus nerds such as you, I, and countless others wouldn't have a shot to be on this reality show.
This reminds me of Ashton Kutcher's reality show he produced for a few seasons: it was called Beauty and the Geek, if I'm not mistaken; and it horribly reinforced stereotypes ten times worse than King of the Nerds.

The train wreck that is Zack has just been fantastic to watch, but I really hope he turns over a new leaf sometime soon.
Yes indeed. He is truly making the first few episodes worthwhile. And his impassioned speech last episode was classic. I was talking to the t.v.: "Dude, they don't hate you because you are an over-enthusiastic nerd. They hate you because you're a douche bag egomaniac."

It's so compelling I don't want Zack to leave. There's something very entertaining about having a guy on a TV show you know 99% of people despise. All the people I like are on Team Purple, so I would prefer he leave that leaf unturned.
What is the general census?
Who do you like? Why?
Who do you dislike? Why?
What challenges did you like? Which of the challenges would you have kicked ass at?
Who was your favorite guest judge?
Please, oh please do not spoil the last 3 episodes in regards to who leaves.
