Anyone else a Downtonian, a fan of this period piece? How did you feel after the third season Christmas special (in the UK, this was shown on Christmas Eve/Day; consider that).
I can't wait until the big reveal for season 4. Apparently there will be a more diverse cast, with New Zealand and black American screen presences. How exciting!
I do admire how relatively faithful Fellows has kept to the times portrayed, and I love the music and soundtrack. (Edit: Though, I'll freely admit that the writing and plot can be truly terrible. Nevertheless, it's utterly enslaving!)

My wife is a huge fan. I'm not sure I've seen the 3rd season Christmas Special (I watched Season 3 on PBS)
The last thing I saw was the main character (the inheritor) dying.
When we went to London for our Honeymoon back in April, we took a day trip out to see a few touristy sites on a tour bus. The tour guide took a detour through the country that drove us within site of where the show is filmed - by suprise! My wife flipped out.

Your wife is awesome! So are you for having watched season 3 on PBS.

I was so moved that I cried. I also thought it was a cruel cosmic joke that life and death should be intertwined like that, and that Dan Stevens (who later dyed his hair a hideous shade of black and slimmed down) left the programme. After all that courtship and the ups-and-downs of Mary/Matthew, Matthew is taken from her and everyone just like that.

Yeah, I'm never sure, sometimes, about Christmas Specials with British Television. They sometimes air them (like Doctor Who) on Christmas, but other times they just treat it like another episode of the series.
I can't imagine having watched that episode on Christmas. It would have been terrible.
Well, by Highclere. It was one of those bus trips from Windsor Castle -> Stonehenge -> Oxford, and the tour guide likes to take a detour through some villages that still have thatched roofs, and it turns out Highclere is more or less along that route.

I'm looking forward to season 4, as the world continues to progress and tradition finds itself needing to adapt or be left by the wayside.
