If you are not watching this amazing gem of a show from BBC America, you need to stop what you're doing and give it a try. Based on the prodding of another online community I frequent, I checked the show out, and I am so glad I did.
Tatiana Maslany plays Sarah, a woman trying to get her life together and reclaim her daughter, who stumbles into an opportunity to do one last con job that could set her and her daughter up for life. What she really gets is entangled in a complex situation involving other women from various backgrounds who all look identical to Sarah and the tense complications of impersonating her doppelganger who has her own secrets. Secrets that might get Sarah killed.
The show is very tightly written, with plenty of intrigue and a very swift pace, but the real draw is Maslany herself who is garnering countless accolades for her rich portrayal of Sarah as well as her doubles. She imbues each character with incredible depth and personality right down to mannerisms, accents and body language. And the real fun begins as various characters impersonate one another and Maslany conveys it perfectly, with a multi-tiered performance of characters trying to play each other. It is worth checking out for Maslany alone, if only to see what the growing buzz is about.
The show has already concluded its first 10-episode season and will return again in Spring 2014. I strongly suggest checking it out.
I remember being intrigued by the promos when it first aired and read excellent reviews from major publications (Entertainment Weekly, etc.). So when I decided to give it a try, it was already three or four episodes deep so I thought I would be too "behind" and didn't give it a try. :/ Stupid, lazy me, as I'm sure it gives "on the previous episode" kinda recaps. After the initial curiosity, it just fell off my radar so-to-speak.
You're the first person I know (well, we don't "know" each other but you know what I mean) who has mentioned this show. And I'll definitely consider a recommendation from you as serious as I would coming from one of my RL friends.
As I don't have Netflix, I'll try to catch up with reruns. Or better yet, maybe Time Warner Cable has it On Demand. At any rate, I have plenty of time to find ways to check out the series before the next season.

(about the English language) It's kinda like a raft that was cobbled together from parts of three different boats and since then has been kept barely afloat with crude repairs every time a leak appeared.

I was very intrigued by the show, and tuned in to watch it. Then, I promptly turned it off when the gratuitous nudity/sexytimes started. I'm not going to begrudge other people that content, but I don't want to watch it...
Does that tone down as the show progresses, or is it still a strong theme throughout?

As it should be.
And I'm not shocked that no one else has mentioned it, if not for the critical acclaim and the growing online interest, I wouldn't even know about the show.

There was gratuitous nudity and sexytimes? I mean, I guess there was a few butt shots (men and women), a couple scattered scenes of sexual content (with little to no nudity) and some scenes of decidedly very nonsexual nude lady back. I know the pilot had one sex scene that was a bit aggressive, but it doesn't really feature that much in the series as a whole. That, or my standards are really different and I just didn't notice the sexual content.
Orphan Black - the show is good. Looking forward to season two starting April 19. If you haven't seen the first season, there is only ten episodes, IIRC, so not too much to catch up.
AMAZING show, very excited. In preparation for the new season tonight, last week I introduced it to a friend and we watched a few episodes. The next day, she binge watched the remaining eight by herself.
