Having lost power for almost a week, I can safely say that Cervid needs to immediately give back his biology degree, because he's obviously not qualified to have it if he can't figure out that human beings after a week without power and running water don't look like models, let alone fifteen years post-apocalypse.
Because your power going out for a week is totally the same thing as a community that has adapted itself to life without electricity...
You don't seem to understand the time span, bocephus. The electicity has been out for fifteen years. That means people have adapted to life after power for fifteen years. That means several generations of people living longer without power than with.
Once again, there is no reason why a impoverished subsistence farming community in the middle of nowhere has people that look like they're out of a Calvin Klein catalog. It doesn't work.
While walking for days in the same clothes, like they currently are on the show, I would agree with you. However, the people who are living in established towns would have plenty of access to water and ability to wash themselves and their clothes.

Have you ever washed clothes and hung them on a line? You need an iron to achieve the kind of wrinkle-free clothing that those kids had, not to mention the fact that white does not stay white without bleach.
Not that I'm not happy that Clorox apparently survived the apocalypse, mind you, I just would think that the poor agrarian society wouldn't be so concerned about keeping neat and tidy when they're busy hunting and farming and gathering.

It is possible to make bleach, obviously, and would have benefits beyond cleaning clothes, such as disinfecting water or sanitizing.

One major benefit of agriculture to society is that it frees up time for people to do things other than work towards survival.
Do you know how to make bleach? I have no idea how to make bleach.
Further, more important question: Why the hell would it matter to a post-apocalyptic, improverished, agrarian society where everyone's running around in the damn woods whether or not you're wearing whiter whites?
It's getting better as the show gets to the point. The first 5 or 6 episodes seem a bit like a long introduction to finally get you to the point.
However, the first 8 episodes have more answers to mysteries than lost did in 3 seasons. So from that standpoint, mysteries aren't being harped on too much.
Put it this way: the show came out of someone thinking it would be to have a sword fight in front of a Starbucks. No, seriously. That's where it came from. And if you watch the show, you will find that it hasn't really progressed anywhere from there.
Yeah, girl, on fire, on a ceiling doesn't really peak my interest either, yet I love Supernatural. I must admit, the pilot didn't exactly blow me out of my seat, and I haven't seen any more of it (yet), so I'll stick to Fringe and Supernatural while they last, maybe after those end I'll start Revolution.
Just saying, good luck getting past the third episode.
My problem with the series has nothing to do with the plot, the world, or any of the typical complaints. I just think the character development is extremely lacking. I simply don't care for most of the characters, because few of them have been made to be relatable. Basically, the only characters so far that I seem to give a damn about are the ex-Google guy and the mother/scientist being held captive. The main villain isn't believable as a human being, either.
I don't know what that has to do with making it into DBZ
If anything, the specific way that these MacGuffin's are used makes them more like the Chaos Emeralds from sonic. They aren't prisms, they are devices that, when activated, turn the power back on in a small area.
I wouldn't mind getting into another sci-fi show, but this show just seems so hokey to me. It looks like a B-movie, in large part because no one has electricity and yet everyone looks clean and pretty. You know, despite the fact that there isn't running water. Nor are there working washing machines.
The only good thing I remember of this show, is when that co-general guy, sorry can't remember his name, he's the uncle of the main annoying chick, said:
I just couldn't get over the science wrongness of the show. I gave it three episodes and each one had me more yelling at the TV then the last.
Electricity doesn't work like that, and its not pretend space land hundred s of years in the future where you can make stuff up with tech sounding names. If you want it to have modern levels of tech you need to have it be believable at modern levels.
If electricty suddenly stopped "working" every living being with a neurological system would die instantaneously.
If that somehow didn't happen, using the crystals on a local area would not allow you to communicate to someone else remotely because as soon as the electricity left your magical local area it would stop working, and the signal would never reach the other person.
Buildings do not fall down that fast. The world would not become THAT disrepaired in that short of a time period.
The big problems with the show are a mediocre storyline and a completely utterly unbelievable premise. "electricity no longer works because of weaponized technology" What hte hell does that even mean? Weaponized technology?
The premise is a bit silly, yeah, its going to be. They completely threw out plausibility for the second season and did a changeup in the writing staff/ep positions and it has been amazing. Season 1 is crap (aside from Neville), but season 2 is quite good.
If the post apocalyptic appeals to you blatch, read over a season 1 summary and just start with season 2 assuming the world is going to be a bit more mad science. The plotlines are also significantly better in season 2 since at the end of season 1 since
in the s1 finale, after briefly turning the power back on, an agent of the "US Government" nukes both the capitals of the major powers on the west coast eliminating the whole monroe republic as an antag and introduces much better villains
I watched season 1 and the first episode of season 2. Throughout season 1, I hated just about every character except that black guy, who's name i can't remember, and that nerdy guy. So i went into season 2 with low expectations, needless to say i just turned off the first episode after like... 20 minutes. I can't watch a show where the only thing i want to see is the main characters all get shot in the head... multiple times.
Because your power going out for a week is totally the same thing as a community that has adapted itself to life without electricity...
Several generations?

Ok, two. Shut up.

Confirm/deny?
(Full Disclosure: the show's requisite level of "suspension of disbelief" was too high for me to want to invest into)

This.
I looked forward to watching this show, then could not bring myself back to watch the third episode. It is not Terra Nova, but still unwatchable IMHO.
