Saw a thread about WWE but nothing for TNA/Impact Wrestling so might as well start.
Anybody been keeping up with this. I've been loving what they have been doing especially over the course of this last year. Bobby Roode had an amazing heel run and the story between Roode and Storm has been the best fued to come out of wrestling in at least the past 5 years. Both of them have done great in the build up and getting people to connect with what is happening.
Austin Aeris I feel has had a decent run as champ but fans seem to be having trouble really connecting to him since he became a champ. I feel he kinda has the Danial Bryan/CM Punk syndrome in that he's an amazing in ring competator and an ok face but he is such a good/cool heel that people can't help but like him. I like that they have Jeff Hardy going against him at BFG as it creates an unknown as Hardy has his redemption story while AA is seeking to prove himself as a legit champion. Kowing both of them in the ring this is going to be a great fast pace match-up.
Aces & Eights is the only thing I'm not completely sold on. I've never been a fan of factions done like this, as I feel it's very NWOish and that was like catching lightning in a bottle with perfect timing and situation all colliding at once and will never be replicated. It feels very obvious that Bully Ray will be revealed as having something to do with them as well as Jeff Jarret, and potentially Abyss. It's pretty much a given they will win at BFG I'm just hoping it actually goes somewhere besides "we are going to take over the company" like we've seen so many times before.
Anyone else got any thoughts on TNA/Impact and if you do keep up with it what are you looking for at BFG?
I've been watching Impact for about 2 years now and I also agree that Impact has become better in recent Months.
The whole Aces and Eights deal had been rather entertaining.
Austin Aeries is by far the best champion they have had in a while. Bobby Roode was good, but his shennagins were tiredsome and boring. More so becuase the tactic has been used over and over again by every heel in the game. However, Roode's mic work is some of the best in the company. The whole "greedy" bit that Roode's kept going with is what made him so popular. Where as Austin Aeries has the mic work along with an explosive type of wrestling that most fans enjoy.
The Tag Team Champs Kazarian (sp?) abd Daniel have a great run so far, but it is about time for them to lose the titles. The likely winner at Bound for Glory is Angel and Styles, but a three way does add that certain element where anything is bound to happen.
Bringing in Hulk Hogan with Sting as his support was a good idea, but I can them turning heel like they have done in the past, but not with Aces and Eights around.
BFG is going to be amazing. I have the PPV ordered and am anxious to see it. Jeff Hardy v. Austin Aeries is going to be the match of the night. Two highly explosive offensive wrestlers going head to head in match that could very well be the match of the year.
So Bound For Glory is over and while some of the results are pretty obvious it was still one hell of a paper view. Spoilers ahead...
James Storm and Roode was the absolute bloodbath I expected it to be. The guys tore the house down and easily had match of the night. Ending it with the poetic bear bottle to Roodes head, after he used it so well against Storm over the last year, was exactly how I wanted to see this end. TNA did great with this match.
Joey Ryan vs Al Snow was predictable as we all knew Ryan would win. The thing that kinda surprised me though was Matt Morgan coming down. I had heard a lot about him being done with TNA but it seems it was all just a work. TNA did a good job of keeping secrets saved for tonight.
Aces & Eights vs Sting and Bully Ray went exactly as it should in terms of Aces & Eights winning. Biggest surprise though was no one really did a turn and instead they revealed Devon as the first person from Aces & Eights. There was so much going on about the break down of his contract this was a great surprised and a really great job by TNA keeping this away from the dirt sheets. It also gets me rather curious to see how Bully Ray's character is going to develop as everyone expected him to stab Sting in the back but he didn't.
Hardy vs Austin Aries was the only thing I hated. Personally I hate seeing Jeff Hardy with the title and Aries time with the title cut short. Aries ended Bobby Roodes record setting run he really needed a strong win over an established guy to solidify himself and by having Hardy go over him like it did imo pretty much knocks him back down to mid card. Don't get my wrong Aries will be able to recover from it because he's that damn good but still I really wish TNA was willing to go all in on him instead of going back with Hardy.
All in all was a very nice paper view with some great matches. I hope it turns good buy rates because TNA really did a damn good job with it.
I started watching TNA a long time ago because I wanted to see RVD and Jeff Hardy and it seems like I stopped watching just in time for them to actually get some ring time. AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels are two TNA talents I have gained a respect for over my time watching Impact and it's a shame that Daniels isn't really that prominent anymore.
There are a couple things I think TNA does better than WWE; the way they do their backstage segments I think is a lot better than WWE's in that it's more engaging and it kind of makes it seem less scripted, it's just two guys talking or the interviewer is off-screen so the focus is on the wrestler. I also liked the Knockout's division, women actually wrestling instead of models pushing each other for a minute and a half then the roll-up finish.
One of the things that kind of drove me away were the Bobby Roode segments that seemed to start every episode of Impact. I don't understand what TNA sees in him, he's not that great on the mic and he's an average-at-best in-ring performer. Another was the dreadful AJ Styles/Dixie Carter/Kaz+Daniels storyline. Ugh, nothing made me want to press fast-forward more than those awful segments. The open fight nights and the gut-check segments were cool at first but I stopped watching for the same reason I stopped watching Raw/Smackdown; I guess I got kinda burnt out and TNA wasn't giving me what I wanted so I didn't waste my time with it anymore.
Overall TNA is still Busch-league compared to WWE and they do some things right but it just doesn't measure up.
I used to watch it before Hogan and Bischoff came in about 3 years ago. I enjoyed it up until then but after they came in, I couldn't enjoy it anymore.
I keep saying I'm gonna start watching TNA again but I just never get around to it.
Maybe I just don't care about wrestling anymore or just don't have the time to watch it with school and what not.
All in all was a very nice paper view with some great matches. I hope it turns good buy rates because TNA really did a damn good job with it.
I believe Impact is doing just fine since the WWE is no longer considered having a Monolopy on the Wreslting Enterprise.
Also, BFG was amazing as you said. Impact's ratings went through the roof for the event and it is only going to get better with Aces & Eights running around.
Hope this doesn't count as necro'ing, but TNA is far more entertaining than WWE at the moment.
Sabin winning at the "free ppv" was a huge suprise, but in the end it makes sense. It's a big thank you from management for blowing out both knees and getting back and not giving up. Well deserved.
Mafia - kind of stale. But it's the old storyline of Sting getting beat up by a faction (hello 4-Horseman, NWO, and now A&8s). I like the concept, I would have rather seen Matt Morgan as the last member over Rampage. I love Matt Morgan's intensity. And I'm not at all a fan of Big Dumb Wrestler stereotype.
D.O.C. - anyone know what happened to him. I know he got kicked out of A&8s, but he disappeared. Did he get hurt, sign somewhere else?
Overall, I still enjoy TNA more than WWE at the moment.
His contract was not picked up. He's out of TNA now.
I loved the Sabin/Manik (god what a bad name) and A Double/AJ matches from last week. I wish the main event didn't end with a cop out ending like that though.
Also for every good thing that TNA does, it then has to do something horrible like the Tito Ortiz ending.
I'm wondering who is going to end up losing the A&8s/MEM match. I would guess it's someone like Garrett, Brisco or Knox who haven't done anything really.
It's obv not Magnus or Joe, they are at the top of the leader board of BfG. My guess it will be one of the no-names from A8s...or Rampage Jackson. For the love of God, please be Rampage Jackson.
TNA is going a good job with the BFG tourney. AJ/Aeris/Roode/Hardy are all viable people I could believe winning it, though I still hope to God it's AJ Styles his new gimik is amazing.
I'm ready for A&8 and the Main Event Mafia to die though, I could care less about them at this point.
I'm ready for A&8 and the Main Event Mafia to die though, I could care less about them at this point.
I haven't watched in a while now (lost cable due to other bills), but I can't help to think that the A&8/MEM is suppose to be a nWo type thing. I was liking them at first, but, now, it's just old and redundant.
funny thing is 90% of storylines in wwe/tna can trace back to NWO storylines.
I wanted to go to the Norfolk show this week but damn the tickets were expensive for front row...and that's the only way I do live shows.
I find last weeks show a little odd. Roode comes out how he's selfish and he's in it for himself...then later on comes out and joins forces w/ Daniels and Kovarian (whatever his name is lol). Seems like either a Roode is setting up for a back stab (generally only done by faces turning heels) or they need a better job with the promos...lol.
I kind of dig the Extraordinary Gentlemen's Organization (Roode/Bad Influence). I slightly like the build up of multiple factions, even if it's only temporary. It opens up more than just a stale A&8s attacking everyone storyline. I can see it being a very temporary thing with Roode and Bad Influence though.
I am going to try and go to the TNA live show out here in Cleveland, but we will see how expensive the tickets are. I haven't gone to a live show since Survivor Series from like half a decade ago.
Promoters are learning there's really no such thing as face/heel anymore. While you have your obv, fans now a days don't let the storylines dictate who they like. For example, I'm a huge Aries and Roode fan. They cut great promos together.
So, I ordered the TNA 10 ppv last night. I hope TNA learned a valuable lesson last night. Don't hire guys that haven't wrestled in a while. Sharkboy looked atrocious. One guy went for a springboard move and missed the ropes and landed badly on his head/neck. There were a lot of mistakes in the Gauntlet match. I was not impressed with the show at all. While the reflection portion was nice, the matches made no sense and were horribly put together and seemed force. Plus, it was possibly taped a while ago, since Taz mentioned Bully as the World Champion.
So is Angel really in a rehab facility? I would think it would be for pain killers (broken neck and all). Great angle at the end (though I knew Bully would win the title). But do we really need MMA fighters going at it? I don't care to see Ortiz vs Jackson (and it's going to happen). I doub't anyone will see this:
TNA GIVE MATT MORGAN A CHANCE!!!! He's athletic, willing to take bumps, willing to go over the top, and his interviews are pretty good (better that "I tore 2 acl" Sabin). Let Morgan be the replacement for Angle in MEM and you got some serious hype for the kid.
And I hate big men in pro wrestling, I love the guys that can wrestler and/or fly around.
Well Brooke Hogan got fired, so good riddance to bad rubbish. She added nothing to TNA and only hurt their financials. The Hogan's are a huge drain on TNA. You know Hogan is getting paid top dollar for doing nothing.

One Hogan down, one to go.
Amen! Hogan has put more emphasis on older guys he brought with him when he came. It should be guys like AJ, Roode, Storm, and Samoa Joe who should be leading the company. Sucked to see Saban lose cuz he is a great wrestler. But lets face it it, Hogan, Tito, and Rampage were brought in cuz they would bring their own fans.

Little angel, go away come again some other day the Devil has my ear today I'll never hear a word you say. He promised I would find a little solace and some peace of mind. Whatever. just as long as I don't feel so desperate and ravenous.

Bully Ray is a bit of an exception. He has busted his ass for this run he's having and he has been great, his faction not so much. I was happy to see him win it back, and I never believed in Sabin as a world champ. Also Caffzilla vs the caffkiller at BFG sounds better to me than sabin vs styles.

Bully Ray has done a great as of late and he deserves this run. Sabin is a great wrestler and has done a lot for TNA. You never know about a guy until he gets a chance but yes, you are right about the pay-per-view.

With the way they've been booking this whole BFG series, I'm actually really excited. I am planning on going to Impact next week in Cleveland but now I only wish I could get ringside seats.
I haven't finished watching last nights impact but I liked the Aries double cross. It was pretty obvious that Park would win after a black hole slam though. Aries with the double cross. He makes such a great tweener.
Styles is back to the Phenomonal One and a member of Main Event Mafia
Did not see Devon losing the match. Wonder if he has an injury or just needed some time off.
I lol'd when he called Brook out, and out came Brook Tessmacher...she's way hotter anyway. lol
