For so many years we all talked about all the potential this Holland squad had, now in what will probably be their last World Cup together, are they finally going to put it all together and make something of it? So many egos and great players with more individual focuses got in the way for so long, and after yesterdays demolishing of Spain, maybe we'll see what we always thought we would.
I'm sad to say though, the reffing this World Cup has been lacklustre so far. The quality of the world cup reffing could certainly be improved.

Interesting analysis. I think Netherlands can certainly set aside ego to come together but injuries and fatigue (both physical and mental) would be their biggest enemy. Losing a key player for any team is big -- but Netherlands has to keep all its starters fresh and healthy to win the whole thing. You also can't coast off the "we trashed Spain" mentality. Gotta stay hungry.
@NED vs SPA: This was a great game IMHO. RvP's crazy goal at the end of the first half changed everything. Then NED went all-in on offense and kept pummeling a very rusty (and at times, surprisingly poor) goalie.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
Yeah, Van Persie's first goal was certainly something special. I wonder how many attackers in the world would have attempted what he did, let alone succeeded at it.
Despite at times horrendous reffing, I think the World Cup has been fantastic so far. Some intense and exciting matches, great play, and a lot of goals (15 in four games). Teams have been offensive-minded, and it has resulted in entertaining football.
I support Uruguay, but... that 3-1 was totally deserved.
Uruguay was playing with a weirdly slow pace, and lacked the ability to bring the ball forward.
Costa Rica was much better than I expected. And, apparently, much better than Uruguay expected, too.

I rolled 5 D6's and got 3 fours. They must have changed the odds of getting a 4!
Group C, while on paper one of the more evenly matched, may oddly be going according to plan more than any other group. It could be argued if you had to pick, most would have picked a Ivory Coast/Colombia pair to advance.
On a mostly non-related note, I can watch Adriana Lima tell me "this is futbol" all day...what is she selling again?
Costa Rica winning gives me hope for the US winning. I really wish that last match they played wasn't closed to the public, I wanted to see the boys before gameday.
Campbell in particular was really impressive, though I felt it was more about Uruguay being bad than Costa Rica being good. We'll see though.
Very happy that Italy beat England. I'm a long-time Italy supporter, mainly due to the fact that Pirlo is my favorite player and has been for well over ten years. Seeing him display his class still at 35 makes me very happy. Excited to see what awaits Italy in this World Cup.
Some old stars have delivered so far, and for others it has looked like this was one tournament too many.
USA! USA! USA! Got the 3 points that were so badly needed. Revenge is a dish best served cold to Ghana. The Pepe red card helps in the next match, but no Altidore really hurts team USA. Parking the bus worked for 82 minutes today but is a training drill compared to parking in front of CR7. Praying for a 0-0 draw and then see what happens in the match day 3. USA have had a knack for the "magic" over recent years however. I can never count out this team under Klinsmann.
I was worried for USA when Ghana tied it, they were wilting big time and Ghana was pressuring them..... Nice to see USA pull it out and get revenge. However, don't expect this Canadian to cheer for his Fellow North American contingent when Deutchland goes FTW
Pretty weak display from Brazil. Thankfully the officials didn't gave in to the silly attempts at creating fake penalties, near the end. That would have been disgraceful.
Mexico played better than Brazil today, frankly. Pretty solid defense and good counter-attack.
From about the 45 minute to 65 minute mark Mexico did more and actually dominated the game IMO. I didn't know what Brazil team I was watching. Certainly Brazil haven't shown me anything close to a team that could challenge a Dutch or German squad if they get deep into the tournament.
Man, Spain has it tough this time around, huh? It seems fairly certain now that Chile and the Netherlands will advance. That might be an actual certainty in 45 minutes.
I'm cheering for my fellow South Americans, won't deny.

Costa Rica purely outclassing Uruguay was amazing.

After 7 games it's 2014 with 25 goals and 2010 with 9 goals. Such a fun tournament to watch so far!

Tomorrow is the day, and I for one, cannot wait.

Honduras to upset France? I could see it after the French's lacklustre qualifying campaign, would do right by their MO.
Expecting Bosnia to give Argentina all it can handle as well, at this point I'm prepared for anything in the World Cup to happen.
Finished watching Cote D'Ivoire v Japan, and boy did Drogba make all the difference in the world.
Pepe with the dumb red certainly isn't helping matters either.
The first half was great, second half was a foregone conclusion. Deutchland FTV

I was surprised by the result of the game, but Chile definitely played a much better game, and deserved the victory.
Draft my cube! (630 cards)
Really happy I didn't choose Spain to win, nor were they my lucky dip team!
