What fascinates me is how people justify the cost of these things. Like..a guy takes his wife and 2 kids to whatever random sporting event. Between the cost of tickets/parking/food, he is most likely spending $150 bucks for 3ish hours of entertainment. Come on, really? That is worth it? Or they pay like 100 bucks for a jersey. Seriously, it is just a shirt with some guys name on it.
My source of entertainment is video games. If I buy a game new(for 60 bucks) and don't get at least 30 hours out of it, I am pissed(which is probably why the only new games I ever get now are gifts). So I just don't understand how people can spend what they do on entertainment(movies are barely better..people seem to spend about 35 bucks on average for 2 people to go to a 90 minute movie and get a drink and a popcorn) and not feel like complete tools.
When people stop paying these prices, athletes will stop getting paid what they do. As long as people pay these prices, I would rather athletes make this much than the owners just pocket all of it.
I gotta put Felipe Massa the F1 Ferrari driver on this list. He makes $16,000,000 a year and is consistantly much slower than his team mate in the same machinery. In 2011 he had no podiums and only 118 points. His team mate Alonso has 10 podiums, 1 win and 257 points.
The entire Philadelphia Eagle roster is overpaid. Lol. Mostly that 2-bit cretin Michael Vick. I mean, 80 million for him and their "dream team" couldn't even make the playoffs.
I think they are getting what they are in for sports careers rarely last longer than 10 year and with permanent injuries. I love football but tickets are extremely expensive. I pretty much only get nosebleed seats to braves games. Still people can spend their money however they want.
I nominate the entire Yankees payroll though. Some players on their team have more money than other teams' entire payrolls.

The way his final contract with the Mets ended, he'll be getting $1,193,248.20 from the Mets every year until 2035. He last played for the Mets in 1999 and played his last Major League game at the end of the 2001 season.
A quick look at the highest paid players in any given sport usually results in the answers, especially in baseball. With players for the most part getting peanuts their first 6 seasons, they cash in big once they hit free agency, and are often paid for what they've done, the reputation they've built, rather than what they will do.
Football isn't as bad, as once you stop performing, you're usually out. Rookies are typically the only NFL players with truly horrendous deals (as a large chunk of it is guaranteed for top draft picks).
Cities get screwed footing the bill to build most stadiums and yet hand the stadiums on a silver platter to the teams, and never recoup the original investment. The current way that teams and stadiums are done is a sham to economies, the only benefit small businesses around the area and stores that sell merchandise.

All pro sports athletes are overpaid! Shooting, kicking and hitting the ball for millions of dollars while everyone else has to work hard for a little bit of check.
Fans are paying way too much for anything related to sports. Unfortunately, we can't boycott all of them because we love the idea of a winning team, player or city. Even though it wasn't really us winning, its them and the organization.
All pro athletes are over-payed.
I understand they have a short career compared to many professions so I have no problem with them making money, but players making $20-30 million a season is too much.
The problem is that if forces stadiums to charge hundreds of dollars for a ticket, ten dollars for a beer etc.
Not to mention that advertisers spend millions for an ad or banner at a game, etc, which forces them to charge more for goods and services we use every day.
Normal people have to pay more for food, cars, even everyday items like batteries because of how much pro athletes make.
