Who is looking forward to this new Pokemon title? It has been over 10 years since the release of these title. Gosh, the remakes of Pokemon R/B/Y came out this generation. If GameFreak redoes the entire generation, it'd have to make a remake of a remake. Time really flies.
Don't know If it will get as much praise as HeartGold / SoulSilver did on the regular DS since Gen 3 is highly regarded as the least popular Generation of the franchise with the exception of LeafGreen / FireRed being remakes of the Gen 1 games. I might get the Gen 3 remakes on the 3DS depending If my interest in the franchise still holds by the time of it's release, I'm already losing interest in the Pokemon TCG due to power creep however breeding and EV training in the video games is too tedious which is why alot of players stick to the Online Simulators for Competitive Battling these days without having to go through the hassle of breeding and RNGing for Natures and IV's on the handhelds.
Pokemon as a franchise hasn't been great since Gen 4 which was 7 years ago, although the stereotypical Genwunner will tell you that Pokemon hasn't been great since the end of Gold / Silver / Crystal when the series should've ended after Johto and Mewtwo Strikes Back where the original ending was cut due to the franchise being successful enough for a Gen 3 adaptation and this was well over a decade ago. How much longer is Nintendo going to keep milking the franchise until players lose interest completely? We sort of reached that breaking point in Gen 5 with Black / White and by the time we got to X / Y in Gen 6 it feels complete but at the same time it's not due to a demand for an Online MMO for the franchise over the handhelds.

These doesn't look like remakes. Still I would like to see how Nintendo can push MegaEvolution. What I really wish tought is a massive pokeworld MMORPG where we can go into each region one by one and conquer them all.

Pokemon is still one of, if not the biggest, Nintendo franchise. It generates huge dollars for Nintendo not only from game sales but through merchandising and other miscellaneous products. As the CEO of a major corporation, who in their right mind would retire one of the company's biggest revenue streams? The simple answer to your question is that Nintendo will milk Pokemon until there is no money to be milked.
And, in the context of Nintendo's current financial position, Pokemon is more important to Nintendo than ever. The entire company is on the fritz and once Nintendo's hardware sales die out, the only assets Nintendo will possess are its rights to series such as Pokemon and Mario.
Maybe If Nintendo didn't push away third-party title support on the Wii U and 3DS they wouldn't be stuck having to rely so much on first-party titles like Pokemon and Mario. As far as I recall the original DS handhelds hardly had any third-party title support either, but it doesn't help Nintendo that they keep region locking games from getting imported to North America and Europe cause in their mind they don't make any money off of niche markets when they used to back in the 80's and 90's when Japan used to be the center of the video game industry where as now it's North America and Europe instead.
Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire is really just the X and Y games in the setting of Ruby and Sapphire much like how HeartGold / SoulSilver was in the setting of Diamond / Pearl / Platinum, you have Mega Evolutions which was still a poorly executed gimmick especially in the TCG aside from the same features that are in the 3DS titles themselves. I would however like to see Move Tutors return as well as a way to make breeding flawless Pokemon become much easier since it's still tedious but not as tedious as in previous Gens where everyone had to rely on the Random Number Generator (RNG) through Action Replay, PokeGen, or other cheating devices to get flawless Pokemon for competitive battling.
As for what Soriel mentioned earlier, I don't approve of an Online MMO for the Pokemon video game franchise unless it's backwards compatible with the 3DS titles through the Pokemon Bank / Poke Transporter App where you can import your Pokemon from your 3DS straight to the Online MMO on your PC, Smartphone, and Tablet which I think would be a step in the right direction for Nintendo / Game Freak as far as their direction with the Pokemon video game franchise goes. Also to make the on-the-go experience much easier they could design a controller that's not as ugly as the one for the Wii U to where you can hook up the gaming controller to your PC, Smartphone, and Tablet to be able to play the Online Pokemon MMO.

I may end up picking up one or the other, but tbh, I feel a bit burned out on Pokemon. Since gen 1, I've played through Blue, Yellow, Silver, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red, White, & Black 2. I was excited to get into X when it hit stores, but I ended up getting sidetracked by, among other things, the new Phoenix Wright, Bravely Default, classes, etc. I just can't get in the Pokemon mood like I usd to.
I'm excited for them. I didn't play any of the Gen 3 games when they came out and only bought Emerald and Fire Red because of Diamond/Pearl. I'm also hoping for some decent move tutors, but I've felt for a wile that they should be in every game. Not just the ones that come after the first games in the generation. I don't want an MMO either. I would like another stadium-esque title for the Wii U as long as there was a way to use my pokemon.
I've bought at least one Pokemon game from each generation since Generation III (The GBASP was my first handheld, and Pokemon Sapphire was the first game I bought/got my mum to buy for me).
I kind of don't want to spend more money on Pokemon this year (I think I have been buying at least 2 Pokemon games per year for 5 years), but the pull of nostalgia is so powerful. It doesn't help my wallet that I loved FireRed and LeafGreen, which I consider to be remakes superior in every way to the original Generation I games.
Eh, X/Y didn't do it for me. I think the emphasis on EVs/IVs and competitive battling has burnt me out. I loved the old games when I didn't know better. Anymore, I feel like there is the "optimum" build in any game and to get the max enjoyment out of the game, you have to do it that way. I remember scumming for the right temperament or whatever they're called (Adamant, Timid, etc) and thinking it was kind of annoying. Now I catch a guy I want, spend 30 mins doing EV training, then going back to playing. It just wasn't fun. I have a compulsion to do these things to get the greatest output from my characters.
I'd like to see an open world pokemon game. Think Final Fantasy 12 where you see the creatures on the map and engage them in real time. No need for online connecting personally, but whatever.

I know what you mean, that's why alot of gamers who used to play Pokemon competitively on the official retail games have already made the switch to online simulators. The official retail games are now only good for beating the game from start to finish regardless of post-game value and when gamers are done playing they'll sell their used copy online or some place that buys used games only to play exclusively on the simulators because the official retail games are too tedious for them to even bother. I guess this just goes to show how out of touch Nintendo is when it comes to online multiplayer which is why they need to embrace PC gaming and Steambox but they won't because they don't understand their western audience as well as their eastern audience.

I've been out of the competitive battling scene for years now, and I'll pick up the new ones when they become available. I enjoyed X/Y. I can see where a lot of players have been alienated by some of Mintendo's design decisions.
Same here, I haven't been competitive battling in the Pokemon games as much due to the online simulators causing me to lose my motivation to play the official retail games however I think the current stagnation of the franchise in general has alot to do with it more than anything else. There really hasn't been a good time to get back into the Pokemon TCG in the last 4 years while the Anime series is redundant solely for the purpose of advertisement which is also hurting video game sales cause Pokemon Company International doesn't want to embrace change to make the franchise prosper again when all they care about are profits and ratings.
I still don't get the logic behind kids ages 14 and under these days playing First-Person Shooters when they could be playing Pokemon instead. I think it has more to do with the fact that they didn't grow up with Pokemon when it was relatively new in pop culture at a time when society made more of a big deal about it as a phenomenon, now it's seemed to have greatly dwindled and gone stagnant due in part of Pokemon Company International's lack of understanding it's western audience's demands. It's not just Pokemon Company International's problem but also Nintendo and Game Freak's as well.

I'll probably get one of the remakes, but at the same time I think with Pokemon X I may have finally burned out on the franchise. In the past I used to play a new Pokemon game a minimum of 100 hours before shelving it, while with X I don't think I even reached 40 hours(pretty much just beat the Elite Four and stopped playing). Though to be fair, this may be because I'm an adult now and busy with lots of other things. It was much easier to spend 200 hours playing Pokemon Gold during summer holidays back in the day. I also have a ton of games piling up in my backlog which further drove me from not wanting to play anymore than the main story. At the same time though, I didn't find X particularly exciting either and the new pokemon weren't very memorable whatsoever (I don't even remember what the starters were other than Greninja).
