This has nothing to do with ESO. It actually starts when I tried to be a wizard in Skyrim. It's like putting down your shotgun in Call of Duty and picking up a slingshot. It would take a significant overhaul for this system to work in a single player game. But I think a lot could be said for a tweaked version in a team deathmatch context.*
I know ES doesn't have a class system in a genre so dominated by WoW and D&D, but PvP balance really likes them. Basic rundown is thus:
Warrior classes have armor and melee, they can take tons of damage and they'd fold any one else in half.
Wizard classes have debuffs and range. Magic goes through armor because being covered in tin means nothing when you're on fire.
Healer classes buff and have protection spells against magic (wards)
Obviously that's a super basic over-view, but with Skyrim-ish controls and customization, in Halo style match making, and a half-way interesting fantasy setting you would have basically created crack for me.
*See what I did there? I'm proud of that
