See, I'm of the opposite opinion. I think Ocarina is massively overrated. As stated already, my favorite Zeldas are all the 2D ones.
Early 3D graphics are actually pretty terrible when compared to modern ones. Even back then, I liked the crisp sprites of the SNES over the blocky polygons from the N64.
I also prefer FF5 and 6 over 7 and 8.
For the most part, I feel like 3D gameplay has weakened a lot of major series, with a few small exceptions - Mario Galaxy, for example, is extremely well done and a great use of 3D, while Mario 64 I find to be a major departure from the series for no great benefit.
Um, maybe you misunderstood me. I spoke that the best Zelda game was the very first, the one they made for the NES. I also explained why FF7 and OOC where judged to be the best, it was mainly because of the graphics (such a major jump from 2D to 3D render. Historical, yes. The best, I highly prefer games like FF6, better story, and Zelda 1, high difficulty and simplicity of design). If it wasn't for the graphics, they wouldn't be located that high on the game podium.
bLatch, I loved Other M, controls were slightly unusual since it involved sidescroll action, field action and front view action. Not the best combination, but still, a great story to the game.

Casual crazy magic player, otaku maniac, unrully cosplayer, what did you expect me to be?
My favorite Zeldas are the Oracle of Seasons/Ages games, followed closely by Link to the Past. Original LoZ is definitely close behind, but the ones above it have slightly better overall gameplay experiences, with more useful and interesting items and boss fights, better enough graphics to make an improvement, and a better difficulty curve. I like the difficulty of the first a lot, but without a FAQ or a map, it's incredibly difficult to figure out where the dungeons are and in what order you need to complete them.
But we're getting pretty wildly off topic here.

I wonder what the exclusive battle maps are going to be. They did mention using handheld maps for the 3DS version on home system maps for the Wii U version. I also wonder what other champs they will reveal or modify.

If you haven't been checking out the game explain video analysis, you should be. They've picked up a ton of details I would have missed from the footage shown at the Nintendo Direct.

Most of the levels shown for both have been so intrusive with their stage hazards that I'm not really looking forward to playing on them.
It's kind of cool that they've got a "Final Destination Mode" for each stage for a change in scenery, but I wish they'd taken a cue from Project M and made more Battlefield-esque versions of stages with various different platform configurations.
Even stages like Castle Siege, Warioware, and Pictochat can become Neutral Picks if you eliminate some of the more intrusive stuff and make them more traditional. It's great having that variety of platform options in M.

I noticed that there are some bugs in the Nintendo Direct about the next Smash Bros. He did mention that everything in the video is not final, even the bugs.

There's a "leaked" final roster circulating right now with 39 characters on it. I'm hoping this is fake because
A) That's the same number as Brawl meaning there's literally a cut from brawl for every new inclusion
B) There's only one more newcomer in that list (Chrom, a new Fire Emblem rep)
According to this, the as-of-yet unconfirmed returning characters are:
Captain Falcon
Falco
Ganondorf
Ice Climbers
Jigglypuff
Metaknight
Mr. Game and Watch
Ness
Wario
With the cuts being:
Ike
Ivysaur
Lucas
R.O.B.
Snake
Squirtle
Wolf
The cuts aren't terrible, I'm not in love with those characters.
I'd just like to see more characters and a larger roster. 7 cuts for only 7 additions is not satisfactory for me.
Edit: I'm hearing that it's fake. Phew.
Still hoping for everyone save Squirtle/Ivysaur and maybe 1-2 others returning, plus another 4-5 newbies. 2-4 cuts for 11-12 additions would be ideal IMO.
But they aren't making more controllers? I Like the original GC controllers, they felt really nice and many of them are now used to the point of breaking down. The third party ones are really bad too. If only Nintendo realized that and produced the controller alongside of the adapter separately
They showed a picture with a controller that had the Smash 4 Logo on it, so I would imagine that they're making/releasing SOME new controllers.
They're also bringing a lot of GameCube games to the Virtual Console, so it makes sense to make the proper controllers available for those.

So the first of the E3 news is out:
Miis are playable, with three different ability configurations (Megaman-style gun hand, Sword, and Sports/Boxer)
Palutena is playable
3DS Release date is Oct 3rd (so much for a "summer" release)
Hoping to see more character confirms in the rest of the show. According to a source who's predicted a number of newcomers, we can be expected to see Chorus Men, Chrom, Pacman and Shulk at E3 as well.
Honestly I'm not super psyched about any of these characters. Ridley would be pretty awesome, but my other wants are so far out there as to be extremely unlikely (Trevor Belmont/Alucard, Mike Jones from Startropics, etc).
Source does say there will be character DLC though, which is promising.

Pac-Man is a playable character as well. The Mii's are apparently pretty customizable, with the Fighter, Swordsman and Blaster designations actually being groups of move sets you can pick from.
I'm pretty "eh" on the Mii's. I feel like the Wii Fit Trainer was sufficient as far as "gimmick" fighters go, and the Villager is another "avatar" type. Epecially given that the Mii's have three different movesets, that means that the time spent developing them and balance-testing them could have been spent adding three more characters.
The current theory on Smashboards though is that the guy who leaked this stuff (which is further confirmed by Pac-man's reveal) only has/had info on what is released at E3, so there's still some room for additional adds.

Hm... so TWO new Fire Emblem characters were just spoiled, along with Captain Falcon returning.
This could signify that the roster is larger than previously thought.
Lucina also appears to be a marth clone with emphasis on aerials while Marth himself is switched to a more ground based gameplay.
With the confirmation that SSB4 will be in between SSBM and SSBB in terms of game speed, we could easily see a potential return of the SSBM marth in the form of lucina #hypeisreal
