Thanks for the comp; might check the game out. I'm invested enough (in terms of time anyway) in Hearthstone that I'm not likely to bow out any time soon, though.
@Raining Frog:
Indeed, exactly as I said somewhere in my post earlier. Rarity creep is quite noticable in Solforge: Try comparing, for example, Grimgaunt Specter, a common, with Grimgaunt Predator, a heroic, and it's obvious the Specter has no redeeming factor. Before Tarsus, the only non-heroic/legendary cards that ever made any impact whatsoever are the Savants, who have been nerfed now. As for competitive scenes, well, I guess it's the same in Magic; people gravitate towards specific decks and saturate the scene with those decks. In particular, currently I'm pretty miffed at Tarsus, Weirwood, Thundersaur and Gargoyle; those bastards are everywhere, and unless I can make sure my rogue decks can do well against them in normal PvP, I'm staying clear of the constructed tournaments for now.
@Tom:
You're welcome Well, everyone has preferences. I can consider myself a Solforge maniac, but many of my gaming friends prefer Hearthstone. (though I am also quite a Hearthstone maniac too )
@Arminion:
You're not helping me stave off my gaming addiction, dude
As far as I know, no, only the three daily wins and the first online win. However, I've been hearing things about 20 online win rewards or something in the Solforge forums, but I haven't had time to truly test it. It's probably a good idea to go to their forums and ask the mods there for the full list of obtainable daily rewards. Yes, like Arminion said, there's quite a lot of whiners in their forums, but the higher ups are pretty nice guys, so asking about some information shouldn't be a big issue.
Or maybe I'll do it myself Be updating you guys later.
EDIT: Checked. Aside from the three daily rewards and one event ticket for PvP win, there's no more substantial daily rewards to gain, so yeah, either way, you don't really need to spend too much time playing the game. 40-50 games per day should be enough, seeing that you can't gain more rewards after winning 20 PvP games.
@Arminion:
You're not helping me stave off my gaming addiction, dude
Buahaha, that was the point.
But although I haven't played all of the mentioned TCGs, I still find Solforge the one I enjoy the most.
So what do you all say about the new spoiled cards? The new Forgeborn cards scare me a little, they are the first level 4 cards and they seem extremely pushed.

I have not tried this but it sounds pretty interesting. I have been waiting for Hearthstone to finally come out for ios but this does not sound like a bad idea either. I have been playing ascension on my phone and loving it so far.
Just about the only thing I don't like about the newly spoiled cards is the same problem that has been plaguing Solforge for a while: rarity creep. Korox (or whatever his name is) is another card that makes Lightning Wyrm even more redundant than it already is, as if Ashurian Mystic might be worse than the Wyrm in any aspect. Cercee is about to make Blightwalker cry. And Cercee and the Brighttusk legendary mean that Nekrium decks are probably going to go nuts in the tourneys seeing that they are the only one who can consistently destroy these low-attack-FAT-health cards with Cull the Meek, Gloomreaper Witch and later Xrath's Will.
Oh well, whatever. I guess I'll just wait and see if the new drafts are going to make things better for me

That is bothering me as well. I understand that TCG-s need power creep, I just didn't expect it so soon in Solforge. I really don't like the fact that the most powerful cards are legendary. It's either - play legendaries or go home. The only solution to this problem is for them to create other formats, like pauper for example (or they stop printing the most powerful cards at legendary, but I doubt this will happen).
Well, the new patch is online, and I have already forged all my excess cards into silver. At the end, I wanted to buy a couple of legendaries, and I was disappointed by the fact that I could buy only ONE. I know my collection isn't really huge, but I've been hoarding silver for a while and I really thought I could buy at least 2 legendaries. As it is, I just bought a couple of heroic and called it a day.
I also drafted with the new cards and as always, I got my ass handed to me, going 0-4 and ending up with a booster. I don't know if I suck because there are new cards, bad luck, or I am just a bad player in general.
If there is one thing I have learned from drafts is - don't pick Tempys, or at least, not the little aggressive dudes like Ashurian Mystic and the new Sparkbrand Asir, they never seem to do anything really.
But the thing that really pissed me off was the fact that out of 4 opponents I faced, three of them played Tempys-Uterra and they all had Umbruk Lasher. That card was NUTS. If you didn't find an answer to it, it could single-handedly win the game for your opponent.
It also seems that the new set is heavily focused on defenders, which is interesting. Oh well, 100 new cards... time to get brewing.

The new legendaries do not seem particularly pushed to me, with the severe exception of Cercee. It's not quite strictly better than Blight Walker (2 less attack at level 3), but holy crap is that an upgrade an an already very commonly played card. The other Forgeborn all seem fairly underwhelming (well, Oros is fine, but not insane), and the other legendaries seem pretty situational and therefore probably not worth using.
I'm currently in this game in a draft. I have a bad feeling about this.
So, they just pumped out the new expansion this weekend.
Practically without warning.
WTF.
Anyway, pissed as I am to the suddenness, at least the newly-added forging finally allows me to make some better decks. Although on a smaller note, they pumped up Scorchmane Dragon.... ow.
So how big a difficulty gap is there between random online opponents and constructed tournaments? My green-black token deck is doing okay versus randoms, but I'd assume there's a big gap between that and the tournaments.
As per my own experience, the difference between random PvP and Constructed Tournament certainly exists, but not too pronounced, IMO. You can and will still run across Weirwood Patriarchs, Thundersaurs, the Forgeborns etc in normal PvP. Of course, I haven't been playing constructed tournaments for a while after being more-or-less trounced by Thundersaurs so my view on this is rather incomplete, to say the least.
I've been playing for a while. Really only playing drafts. I went 2 and 2 last night. Best i had done in some time. I dunno if i just get really bad plays or cards, but i typically feel like my opponents get more ranked cards than i do. I like the game, glad they introduced the ability to buy singles for silver. I haven't played constructed because i didn't have the cards.

You don't need an absolute ton of cards for constructed (at least for random play) - I may have gotten a little bit lucky in what I opened but anyway I threw together a green/black (uterra/nekrion) deck built around common 2-for-1 creatures (Ether Hounds, Death Seeker, the zombie guys) plus Tarsus Deathweaver plus Spring Dryad and it's performed ludicrously well for me - I'm something like 8-1 with the deck now, with the one loss coming before I'd bought a full set of weavers and dryads. And that's based on zero dollars plus 3-4 days of daily rewards to start off.
For players who are just starting, Nekrium + Uterra is probably one of the best combinations if you don't have big enough card library. For example, Tarsus Deathweaver is craftable for 1500 Silvers a piece, and the sheer amount of Nekrium / Uterra common and rare cards that benefit from him can make you some pretty decent deck even before you add in legendary cards. Even without him, Nekrium/Uterra is very synergistic, with tons of kill spells and pump spells that clean up the field and allows you to swing in unhindered.
Anyway, my usually sucky luck pretty much prevents me from playing Tournaments very often, but at least the stuffs I can get from dailies are pretty ok. And besides, the Draft is keep-what-you-draft, so it's never a massive loss to draft sometimes.
Still play daily. Bought a few cards, but legendaries are expensive. Not sure what deck i want to work on.

Most frustrating thing about free-to-play is that (1) I'm crap at limited and (2) because I can only play it 1/week or so, I can't get the practice to get better. I think I have a reasonable grasp on the theory, but.
It isn't a magic clone and it is pretty linear and boring after a few hours. At least that was my experience. The game is just a money grab.
Money grab? I spent 0$ on Solforge, and yet I still have all the commons, rares and most heroics. The only thing missing are legendaries. Sure, this all came from playing regularly for several months, but still, what did you expect? That they will hand you all cards after a few days? Besides, if you know how to play well, you can beat others with budget decks.
Solforge was boring for me too when I first tried it because it felt like a poor man Magic. Now I can't get enough of it!
Give it time, build some decks, watch some videos, read some articles, there is plenty to see and learn.

The RotF base cards are forge-able now; if you have enough Silver to spare, get those Forgeborns
Otherwise, the new cards from the mini-expansion have come, though I'm a bit not so sold on them at the moment.
And they've recently sold a few individual cards with comedic alternate arts. Super Chrogias, for example
