She is pretty good, but she's not that great right now. Ignoring the fact that she's hard to play and requires good teamwork to work moreso than most champs, I think it stems from one main problem: She's kind of *****ty at making things happen. She can make big plays with crystallize IN teamfights and stuff, but aside from catching and cutting people off in the jungle it rarely can really start things. Plus she's slow.
Compare this to the big mids right now like Gragas who have a pseudoflash plus displacement or something like that, and higher (midgame)/easier burst... it's just a package that is so powerful for picks and small skirmishes.
Compare her with Syndra for example. Similar mobility, but syndra's stun is HUGELY more powerful in almost every way: Higher damage unless you get a perfect anivia Q burst (not generally possible against multiple targets), ridiculously faster, much larger stun hurtbox. Even a longer stun hurtbox when combo'd with an orb, which if done properly doesn't take any additional time. It's just so much more powerful and has so many uses.
Then she also has a lot more burst, which is what really edges her into viability - along with assassin nerfs, which also did help anivia, although due to her passive a bit less so than most immobiles. The things her Q does are more like... prerequisites to be even considered for high-tier, that Anivia lacks.
Karthus has a similar problem, but you do occasionally see him from pros because his potential to carry is just unparalleled in mid.
It might also hurt her that siege is so strong right now, since she's good at anti-siege but you can hardly even do it against the right teams right now.
Summoner name options: Manning Face, Very Draven, Dravens Whiskers, Unusually Draven, or Catches Axes
EDIT: Spousal Draven, Draven Plus One, Peep Chirp Quack [Peep and the Big Wide World is my son's favorite show right now and I fully approve) or DucksAreTheBest, RunsFromFights

I don't get the reference, which pretty well rules that out.

wow... i mean, failing provs is not a big deal but im really surprised to see how low some people ended... i mean i considered myself pretty low on the ladder, all things considered, so its amazing to hear people did that badly.
I just saw this, so apologies for the late reply.
But yeah, it's not uncommon to have people being dropped 1-2 tiers despite doing fairly well in their placements, compounded with the fact that they did a soft Elo reset and a lot of people got dropped really far down in the ladder.
That pretty well explains why I don't get it, then. Darned kids these days.
Just watch a few episodes man, it's almost as good as Futurama was during its heyday. Rick potion #9 was absolutely hilarious in that Rick's love potion (and subsequent attempts to fix it) just kept compounding into sheer insanity.

@drawn: If you can snipe with your ult as draven, I recommend " Theresnoescape", "the style man", "swift death" and so on but from your list, I like runsfromfights
EDIT: Draven and Nami are so fun <3, but who to get first XD? I like that both have strong chasing potential, but one has more burst than the other while the other has more sustain:p
Always Draven. Way cooler, but also way stronger right now. But they're different roles - which role do you need to reinforce your roster at?
I kind of need to fill up on both But it's probably ADC though. My only ADCs at the moment are Quinn and Ashe
Well, Draven is a great ADC right now, has virtually no bad lanes while being a true hypercarry - but its going to take you 15 or 20 games just to get reasonably comfortable on his mechanics before you can even start learning the strategy and tactics of playing him (lots of start/stop aggro stuff). He's a "Play me all the time or not at all" type champ.
I have a nephew in bronze 5 that is owning with the Beserker Greavers Bloodthrister++ build. He gets positive like every game and might carry himself into bronze 4 with the build.
It's hilarious seeing games where he wins with ridiculous scores like 27/5 and a build like Beserker Greaves, 3 bloodthristers, 1 BF sword and 56 CS.
I wish I could play at that elo, just so I could feel the good old days when Shaco was viable.
I wish I could play at that elo, just so I could feel the good old days when Shaco was viable.
Shaco was still viable until the most recent jungle item changes where the recent change from regen to % damage recovered was sort of the final straw to break Shaco's back (can no longer do The Worm). Right now he is just dealing with a bunch of little things that makes him so much harder to do well with than other junglers.
None of the jungler items are all that good on him since he doesn't have the physical damage tools needed to make good use of the Ancient Lizard and you really want his first item to be offensive to take advantage of his strong early game making Ancient Golem subpar.
In addition he doesn't farm the jungle enough or fast enough to take advantage of the sustain passive. He preferred the regen because it was nice for a heavy ganker like him. Now he is one of the only junglers to actually have more sustain problems than before.
The jungle is easier to recover in, making early invading less rewarding.
He has trouble farming the jungle effectively since his boxes fall off in damage and he doesn't have steroids to really speed up his clear.
Trinkets make it harder to snowball early game where he is most effective.
Really what it comes down to is his weakness haven't changed, but his strengths have gotten weaker which just sort of puts him in a weird tough spot right now.
EU LCS is a real treat to watch. I love seeing pros pulling out the new picks: panth jungle, morde mid, lulu mid, trundle top, warwick top, karma support. It's really exciting this season.

"Proving god exists isn't hard. Proving god is God is the tricky part" - Roommate
Panth jungle and Warwick/Trundle top should last a while, too. All three work very well in solo queue. Warwick and Trundle (and Darius) beat up the Shyvana/Mundo metagame while providing essentially the same super tank fighter late game, and Panth jungle is dominant now that he can clear reasonably well with the jungle item changes.
I really love the new changes for damage based junglers. When you combine the absurdly tanky top meta with the semi-tanky bottom lane and the new items it really opens up the jungle to be played be some high damage junglers. Every team still needs 1.5 to 2.5 tanky characters, but the fact that you can get that through your top lane and your support really means that your jungler has a lot more options like Wukong, Pantheon, and Damage Vi (which is hilariously fun)
edit: I decided against buying a summoner name change and instead used the IP to buy Wukong, Leblanc, and Renekton - now that they're actually viable champions I kinda need to pick them up for trading purposes in ranked.
That moves my unowned champion pool down to 8 (52k more IP to go). Cassiopeia, Fizz, Kog'maw, Lissandra, Lucian, Rengar, Rumble, Volibear, and Zac.

Mid lulu has been around (and in ameteur league) for a long time honestly. But yea it's getting a lot of pro league play now.
Mid Lulu is going to get nerfed because support. 100% ARL*.
So these sustain changes have made me wonder what other champions that were held back by their sustain problems before can now jungle. Tonight I am going to try some out. My first victim, er... champion I am going to see if Ryze can now jungle.
Anivia is super fun
Getting better, and that team spirit skin looks sweet
And darn, why is Draven 6.3k? It's super expensive, but then again, he's super awesome
