Evolutions pending this'll probably be my first fire starter since Silver. Although another fire fox is rather lazy (assuming "Fennekin" comes from "Fennec").
Not crazy about the trailer, though. I haven't truly loved Pokemon since the second gen and in this case my "shut up and take my money" is more a statement of frustration.
I'm excited. It's finally the excuse to buy a 3DS that I've been searching for. Every generation I hope for a Psychic-Fighting-Dark starter trio, and it looks like my hopes of that have been dashed right away, but I already find these starters more appealing than last generation's.
I have to say, I hope there aren't any super crappy designs like Vanilluxe and its line, but I have a feeling my hopes will be dashed.
I've bought and played through the whole series so far up til Black, I still haven't grabbed Black/white 2 and am not 100% sure I shall (who knows), and am unsure on X Y too. If I can find the time the it is a possibility. The franchise is just getting dull, it needs some sort of innovation, really bad.
*This is a weird case because Rock is strong against Ice, Ice is strong against Grass, and Grass is strong against Ice; but Ice isn't weak against Grass, Grass isn't weak against Rock, and Rock isn't weak against Ice. It's perfectly balanced, but not in the same way that the other four "perfect triangles" are.
The only one of those that doesn't include any of the original three is Fighting/Rock/Flying, and that's not particularly exciting (well, I think it is, but it's not particularly marketable).

As I've readd before, the issue with an initial trio with a Rock type is that the Pokemon start with Normal-type attacks, and then the Rock one has a huge advantage. So the Poison/Grass/Ground trio seems to be the only alternative.

Oh, very good point. I was thinking so much about logic I didn't even consider game balance.
Yeah, I guess it's Fire/Grass/Water then. Unless they wanted to try dual-type starters that balance each other out (I should try to whip something that looks appealing together).
I think this looks great. Finally taking that next step in the right direction. I loved Gen 5 so I'm obviously excited about this. Battles look great.
But I don't have a 3DS and I don't plan on buying one. Pokemon on 3DS was inevitable but it's disappointing now that I realize it's finally happening. Handheld consoles/gaming just doesn't impress me anymore; I'm trying to save for college and if anything I'm going to spend my money on one of the new home consoles (probably PS4) if it hits at the end of the year.
So that's what it comes down to: my love for Pokemon can't conquer my total lack of desire to get a 3DS. Diamond and Pearl was the main reason I bought a DS and that system ended up having some of my favorite games ever on it. I haven't seen those type of games on 3DS yet that could possibly convince me there's more than X/Y out there for it -- only maybe two or three games.
About Frox: for nearly 10 years, Frox has been helping women look good and feel great in easy-fit, mix-and-match, and work-to-weekend with just a few pieces by helping them make the right choices when it comes to clothing and accessories.
This is the Pokemon game I've been wanting for a long while. Gen 4 got me back into Pokemon when a buddy came back from college with a DS and the game and got us all addicted... but with the DS's graphical capabilities, I was disappointed by the continued use of sprites.

I love the 3DS because of the e-shop - All my favorite classic gameboy and gameboy color games are out on it. Unlike the Wii U and Wii (so far), the 3DS has had an awesome digital line-up.
As far as games, the main Nintendo games have been worthwhile for me so far. And it's only $150. BUT, from the sounds of it your options may be limited. $150 for me is a pricey, but do-able irregular expense.
What kind of games are you looking for on the 3DS?
Hate to be all doom and gloom, but one of the serious problems about the Gamecube Pokemon games was that the battles took too long due to lengthy animations. Hopefully, they're faster (With less of an emphasis on being dramatic or lifelike) in this game.

The wedding is over. Now it's time for the honeymoon.
Man, I played the hell out of Pokemon when I was a kid, up through Ruby and Sapphire. If anyone takes off the fanboy rose-colored goggles they can see how the design team is just getting worse and worse at making Pokemon that aren't completely lame. Ruby had some real idiots like the Groucho Marx nose guy and the Pig, but finally I had to quit after Diamond and Pearl introduced such atrocities as the Hippo, the sleazy looking frog, and the electric refrigerator. Now that I see people playing the newest games and playing with an ice cream cone without batting an eyelash, I know I can never go back
Oh, I thought he was talking about playing a spell that is countering a spell with counters on it as it comes into play, but I see you guys were just discussing whether he was flashing a creature with flash in order to flash a flashback or just flashing a creature with flash but not needing flash in order to flashback a spell without flash.
Yes, because in the early games we had such winners as a dozen eggs and a pile of toxic waste that turned into a bigger pile of toxic waste...
Each generation has it's hits and misses in design. The ice cream cone is lame, I agree, but I'm a big fan of the polar bear and the hydra-dragon out of the new gen games.

I don't even know. I don't like Nintendo's 1st party stuff like Zelda and Mario, and truthfully that is pretty much all there is on the 3DS that is highly acclaimed.
I don't know. I'll think about it. The frog's German name IS Froxy after all, and that was my username here for a while, so that might make me obligated to drop the $$$ on it.

Whatcha talking about? That ice cream cone is awesome! Who doesn't love ice cream?
Although my personal favorite new ones are Galvantula (Joltik is cute too), an electric/bug type spider, and Golurk, a ghost/ground type golem.
There's some duds, but there's been duds since guys like Mr. Mime and Electrode.

After watching the trailer again it looks like it could evolve into Fire/Psychic.
Actually...it also looks like Chespin could evolve into Grass/Dark and Froakie could evolve into Water/Fighting. Huh.
A fighting type starter! We were never going to see it coming.
Although if it ends up as you say, it does make it a nice reverse cycle where psychic > fighting > dark. The fact that it doesn't work the other way around is mitigated by the other type these guys have. Cool.

I'm actually not digging Chespin's design. It seems like he's probably the most popular based on what I'm seeing around the internet, but his color scheme is so awful. The orange tail really puts it at a whole new level of graphic design faux pas. He's still kind of cute but the coloring is not attractive and way too unfocused.

Sadly this will never happen. Fire > Grass > Water is just too classic at this point.

That's not perfectly balanced though, because Dark is immune to Psychic. These are your other options:
Fighting/Rock/Flying
Poison/Grass/Ground
Rock/Fire/Steel
Rock/Ice/Grass*
