I was wondering if anyone on this forum played YuGiOh Duel Monsters? I love the game and have played it since it came out. I absolutely dread these new cards (GX/5DS).
I thought I'd post my deck, if anyone else played and wanted to share their decks too, go right ahead.
I don't have a deck, but I'm wondering about yours. I think you're setting yourself up for a bit too much card disadvantage. Waboku and Magic Cylinder can stop you from getting hurt - but they cost you cards. You're playing a game of attrition right now, considering the defensive monsters and traps as you try to draw your opponent into costly attacks - but this is slightly hampered by your card disadvantage in your defensive and offensive spells. Running more kill spells and traps might help.
I see what you're saying. The deck either goes for stalling the opponent into me burning them or just putting out Gravity Bind with Raging Flame Spirit and swinging in for direct... Or I get card screw and lose out fast. But when the deck works, it works very well, though, it's still in refining. I want to make this deck turn out to be a Bad Reaction Burn deck, I feel like it's shaping up

Awesome, I've been wanting to make a Nurse Reficule/Bad Reaction burn deck myself.
Even for a burn deck, I might trim down some of the traps and not quite as useful spells there.
Kinda like what Stairc said. You've got defensive stuff in there, but you need to like really answer the problems on your opponents side rather than just stall them for a turn.
If you're looking for better defensive stuff try things like:
Marshmallon (deals 1k damage too, which is always nice in burn)
Spirit Reaper
Gravity Bind
Level Limit Area-B
They'll stall and stay there until the opponent could take them out and most of them are pretty easy to come by, the only thing that's even more than a dollar or so is Marshmallon and even he should only be like 4-5 or so.
And if you're gonna be running a lot lot of 1 of creatures. Run a Sangan too, so you can tutor for some of them.
And alas, if you're looking to play "advanced" Snatch Steal is banned at the moment.
Aside from all that. Here's my own Nurse Burn deck I've been messing around with.
I don't have the IRL cards, but I played a LOT of the yugioh gba/ds games (I think I played through all of them) and I've tried to make Bad reaction to Simochi work, but my experience was that it doesn't work, due to teh fact that Bad Reaction doesn't do anything on it's own, it's fragile, and the cards that make your opponent gain life suck without it. The rest of the cards are solid, so I would try to find another win-con (personal favourite is defensive "monsters" + shield and sword, not really good but likely better than this)
Ja, I think before Nurse Reficule and Soul Taker were around that Bad Reaction decks were too inconsistent to really stick it to the opponent. But now with Nurse being you're 4-6 Bad Reactions and some more cards that could gain your opponent life without being totally worthless outside of Bad Reaction being out, I think it could be pretty neat.
What Gba games did you play BTW? I still play 2006 and 2008.
Well I am personally a huge fan of the Bad Reaction + Eye of Truth combo. It works very well against most, if not all decks. Nurse would make that combo even better, because I wouldn't have fear of my Bad Reaction disappearing with Eye of Truth in play.

I'm not sure if I dig Eye Of Truth. I see where you're going with it, but it seems like the opponent could just set any spell cards in their hand if you happened to have Bad Reaction/Nurse out with it.
I just started playing again about a month and a half ago when all of my friends at work decided they'd copy one guy and get into it. I really wanted them to play magic, as my experience with yugioh was terrible when it was a new game, but after playing a bit, it seems konami is starting to get it right. Plus the gaming community here is amazing.
I run two decks currently. Since the new banlist is dropping D. Draw to 1, I can't run Destiny Hero Exodia, so I'm experimenting with trade-in, cards of consonance, blue-eyes, and low level tuners to go through most of the deck then follow it up with super rejeuvenation and Dark factory of mass production to draw into exodia at the end of the turn. I turn 2 win with it more often than turn 1, which leaves it really open to counters.
My tournament deck as of March 1st is Monarchs. I run a lot of theft cards to sac their creatures for my monarchs and produce massive board advantage. I'm attempting to make up for monarch's typically slow game by running cards like Gravekeeper's Spy and Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, then running Snipe Hunter and Prime Material both at one as tech.
Sadly, I still don't have a few core cards such as Mirror Force, but I should be getting them soon. When the new set comes to America next month, I'll be shifting into a monarch-plant synchro build, which will run more theft in the form of Mark of the Rose and sport tech cards such as Dandelion, Petit Inmato, and Lonefire Blossom.
My love for burn and spellcasters from magic has translated over, but currently I haven't been able to build any notable decks. I'm toying around with fairy burn, and when fairy archer comes out, Agent of Judgment - Saturn burn is looking like a go.

Maybe it's just me, but I've always kinda dug Apprentice Magician/Mystic Tomato engine over stuff like Dekoichi.
literally all of them, except destiny board traveler and 2004
the ones I remember the best
Worldwide edition (my favourite)
Duel Academy (cool too)
Dungeon Dice (awesome game:P)
and another one, which I played for an entire holiday but I forgot the name (can't be bothered to look for it, my gba hasn't been used in a long time, got a DS though, the DS yu gi ohs are awesome too :P)
I haven't really tried much of the non-world championship ones. Sadly I did play Destiny Board Traveler and either I wasn't playing it right or that game was just painful to play. Perhaps I'll check out Dungeon Dice, I normally only like the ones where it plays exactly like the normal CCG with a lil story to go along with it. I didn't much like the games where you couldn't make your own deck, or there was some weird crap that made it much different than the normal CCG like the Rose Duels or whatever it was called for PS2
+2 Mystic Tomato
+2 Apprentice Magician
+1 Old Vindictive Magician
Tomato can grab a lot of other guys in the deck and I dig that you can grab sangan and than sac him next turn for a monarch and grab something else.
I'm sure you're build works fine and all, I was just kinda throwing out ideas.
How are the Reckless Greeds in there BTW? I never really see them ran outside of burn or exodia.
I was incredibly weary of trying this build beforehand, but it does what it needs to really really well. Aside from core traps like Torrential and Solemn (and MF when I get it), my magic and traps that I'll set, aside from bluffing, can all be used in response to their destruction. Greed wastes a typhoon and nets me two cards, BoM and E-con mess with the field, PWWB slows them down a turn, etc. I make up for the lack of turn draws by running deck thinners such as Gk Spy and card drawers such as Dekoichi, along with PoA and Allure. The build definitely isn't perfect or the best, but I really like it nonetheless.
If I find room for Mystic Tomato (which I probably will, definitely will in my plant build next month), it'll be in the form of -1 Marshmalon, -1 Penguin Soldier +2 Tomato. The apprentice engine is a little too passive for the people I play with, especially the guys who play gladiator beasts (they'll just get a murmillo and kill the apprentice/vindictive). Dekoichi at least nets me a card, and can be used for 1400 damage where necessary. In a format where Monarchs is a bit too slow, I'm going to need hand advantage to repeatedly use Snipe Hunter, PWWB, along with the monarch's ability to create massive tempo swings (go Raiza!). Just imagine if I could get my hands on a Trag: set a card face down, pass turn, take some damage to play trag and then activate Reckless if my opponent decides to attack Trag.
So, as it is now I'm debating between Mask of Darkness and Mystic Tomato. The only thing holding me back from mystic tomato in this build is the tendency for swarm decks to show up here, meaning I'll lose two guys and take damage. GK spy seems to solve that (mostly), but still.

I never really got into the games because I've always favored physical cards. I looked at it and it looked really good for a card game video game. I do think that the interface in Yugioh games are far superior to MTG games, either MTGO or Lackey. I think Yugioh Online (which I did play a while back) was extremely easy to get into. The interface had better be the same on the DS.
I might just have to pick this game up for a try.
The last time I played Yugioh was not too, too, too long ago.
I ran this deck:
It generally went for an OTK....Which usually worked out pretty nicely.
Monsters:
3 Blackwing - Sirocco The Dawn
3 BlackWing - Shura The Blue Flame
3 Blackwing - Bora The Spear
3 Blackwing - Kalut the Moon Shadow
3 Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind
1 Gorz The Emissary of Darkness
1 Dark Armed Dragon
1 Cyber Dragon

3 Black Whirlwind
3 Upstart Goblin
2 Allure of Darkness
1 Dark Eruption
1 Monster Reborn
1 Smashing Ground
1 Brain Control
1 Mind Control
1 Giant Trunade
1 Heavy Storm
1 Swallow's Nest
1 Enemy Controller
Traps:
1 Torrential Tribute
1 Mirror Force
1 Reckless Greed
Extra Deck:
2 Arcanite Magician
2 Blackwing Armor Master
2 Black Rose Dragon
1 Magical Android
1 Blackwing Armed Wing
1 Goyo Guardian
1 Tempest Magician
1 Dark Strike Fighter
1 Stardust Dragon
1 Thought Ruler Archfiend
1 Red Dragon Archfiend
1 Colossal Fighter
Side Deck:
3 Bottomless Trap Hole
3 Banisher of Radiance
3 Gravekeeper's Spy
2 Mind Crush
1 Trap Dustshoot
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
1 My Body As A Shield
1 Nobleman of Extermination
I personally think YuGiOh is more fun than MTG, for the sole reason that you can play just about anything at any time. That really tests the player to not throw down all their cards as fast as they can because they can.
No, you're right. Not a lot of players have the same mentality in YuGiOh games as they do in MTG. But that doesn't mean all players of YGO aren't up to par with MTG players. The fact that YGO has no cast costs (for the most part) makes the games move fast and force people to load they're decks with counters/removal. It's a really fun game though. The shows don't do it justice and frankly make it look like a joke. inb4 "but lawl it is a joke".
I just picked up one of them new-school starter sets today at Target. I am not disappointed. I got myself the "Machine's Re-Volt" structure decks, I jizzed my pants. It lacked the obvious removal/protection cards but for a precon deck it is awesome.
It came with a Cannon Soldier... Jebus. I remember the old decks that had little-to-no synergy but this deck is a complete combo. I want to edit it though, for obvious reasons (I'd never get away with playing this deck for my life) put in some great machine cards (XYZ) and some better removal/protection, and a little more consistency.
Anyone else buy structure decks and been surprised with the quality?
I refuse to buy 5D's decks, the furthest I'll go into the future is GX. I resent the creation of Synchro monsters.
Yugioh is inferior to magic in every way, unfortunately. I find the game more fun to play most of the time, but it's destroyed due to HORRENDOUSLY RETARDED rulings that don't make any sense what-so-ever and are only rulings because Konami 'says so'. x.x;
