Well, the first trailer is out for the fifth(!) Ninja Turtles movie.
Cons:
1) The Turtles are enormous. Like 6+ feet tall judging by the few glimpses we get of them. Also, their shells make them look like hunchbacks (if they had lowered Leo's shell about half a head, it'd be fine). As it stands, how does he reach his swords on his shell?
2) Overly connected plot. Shredder knew and worked with April O'Neil's Dad, AND they created the Ooze/turtles? What.
3) William Fichter is great, but a white guy shouldn't have been Shredder
4) If this is bad, they have Fichter signed for 3(!?!) films
5) I want to chant 'RU-FI-OH!' every time I see Donny and Leo.
Pros:
1) The Mikey gag at the end is pretty standard Mikey, and was my only ray of hope on this monstrosity
Honestly, this is shaping up to be a nice little travesty. As a fan of all three cartoon series, the original movies (except for 3, blech) and both the original and new IDW comics, I have to say this is the weirdest, and this trailer raises a lot of questions.
Based on earlier interviews, I have a feeling Fichter is actually an Utrom (like the 2003 cartoon's Shredder), but who knows at this point.
Of course, I could easily be wrong and it could be pretty good. It's not going to take a lot of work to be better than Turtles 3, anyway. But keeping my expectations low has never led to disappointment.
Why is that woman still on screen? No, don't answer that.
Cause she's hot?
I'm going out on a limb here and saying the people posting in this thread aren't the target audience for this movie, unless you guys are buying the action figures and playing TMNT on the playground at recess...
I reserve judgement until my kids drag me to see this.
As for the trailer, well, it's a movie about ninja turtles and we get one shot of said turtles. Cracking jokes rather than doing ninja stuff. Seriously?
First off, it's a teaser. It's not going to have a lot of action in it. Hell, some of the best teasers don't even have footage from the film. They're not going to waste all the really cool stuff on the teaser.
Second, my guess is they probably don't have a lot of the effects shots done. This was just the sample to get people excited. In a month or two they'll release a full trailer with tons of what you want to see.
I know with today's effects motion capture was probably the best way to go with a live action Ninja Turtles film, but they still just don't look like they are a part of the same world as the live action characters. I truly wonder sometimes if we will ever cross the uncanny valley. I know Hollywood types and effects people say they've done it or they're really close, but they must be watching something different than everything I've ever seen...
Also, didn't Fox call Michael Bay Hitler a little while back? And he's still the only one who will give her a job? Michael Bay is a goddamn saint.
Haha!
So true.
The turtle designs are growing on me, but the whitewashing of Shredder still bothers me. Why couldn't Fichter have played some other Villain. In the original comic, Shredder dies in issue #1.

My 10 year old just saw this trailer with me, i did not say anything, he just asked me " i heard the turtles are like aliens right?" i replied "I think its something like that yeah", he proceeded to reply with "Damn You Michael Bay".
I literally just forgave my kid for the next 15 years of wrongdoings XD.

They are NOT aliens. Pretty sure that rumor was debunked...also they show the ooze in the preview. :/
yeah well even if they actually keep them as 'mutants' it still doesnt change my son's reply of "Damn you Michael Bay", your point was that the demographic for this movie would eat it up, im just pointing out the demographic that lives in my house seems to share the collective hate for Bay when it comes to TMNT.

I was SO excited for this movie but my god I hate everything about Megan Fox... She is literally the worst April that they could have ever casted.
As for the Turtle's design, I actually like it. They still feel very turtle-ish but have that mutant aspect. They aren't just 6 foot tall turtles... they look mutated. Idk, I like it.
Nickelodeon....umm okay. Guess it won't be too violent/graphic. Not the worst thing. Modern Star Wars movies work for me. Same for Avengers, etc. Let's hope Nickelodeon allows for PG13.
Michael Bay...really not a fan of his Transformers work. His camera angles and ultra-zoomed-and-fast-cutting-mid-fights-but-we-will-slow-down-mid-punch-for-dramatics doesn't jive with me. Transformers 1 was bearable. The others ones sucked from a film-making perspective. Let's hope he doesn't overdo sequencing and fight scenes. Keep it simple.
Megan Fox...really? I'm not into her at all. I also never pictured April the reporter as a whore. I don't have a replacement in mind, but Fox doesn't work for me as this role in the slightest.
Turtle Design. They look realistic. The heads aren't overly large. The bodies are quite stocky. Leonardo appears to be very tall from the trailers (6.5 to 7 feet compared to Fox?)

If MovieBob is right there is like 95% chance that Splinter is
April's Dad
As far as turtle designs go, with the exception of the faces i admit the overall design is starting to grow on me, the fact that they are bigger... well its going to make he whole "Ninja Stealth fwoosh!" thing be a bit harder to believe but at the same time it does make the whole 'mutant' bit more believable at a glance.... so yeah its a matter of tradeoffs i suppose.
Splinter is listed as a character in imdb.com, played by danny woodburn. I would guess this would be on par with the first transformers flick. Not terrible, but not something I will see more than once.
I haven't commented or complained about it, but just from one trailer... I'm definitely not going to pay to see this.
I'll wait until its on cable nine months after its release or maybe get it from the library or something. I won't be seeing this in the theater and I doubt I'll spend the money to watch it On Demand.

If it weren't for Megan Fox, I'd probably check it out. She really puts a damper on it. Untalented, only a typical Hollywood beauty, and just dull to watch.
Being a Turtles fan since childhood, I'd rather watch the classic films from the early 90's than this garbage. I already had low expectations going into this since Michael Bay is involved with it, and the trailer is more further proof of it. At least in one of the classic films you had that cameo with Vanilla Ice as well as the classic product placement of Domino's Pizza (makes me sad how much they changed their recipe since those days) and in the first film there was even an underground arcade where Splinter gets kidnapped by Shredder. I remember seeing that Arcade in the film and I wanted to play in it so bad...
Maybe what Hollywood could do is bring back some of the classic Turtles films at the IMAX like what they did with Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope back in the late 90's. My biggest regret going to the IMAX is missing out on James Cameron's Avatar which I wanted to see very badly and ironically it's getting a sequel as well. I know some movie theaters did some throwbacks by re-showing films such as Risky Business and Silence of the Lambs. I still remember one of my favorite childhood experiences was going to see the Turtles' "Coming Out of Their Shells" Tour in 1990 where I got the Rare Tour Program from there until it either got misplaced or sold at a garage sale at my grandparents house, now it's gone up in price on eBay.

This movie is going to be terrible. It is not too soon to tell. It will be complete crap, just like everything else Michale Bay does. He's already ruined the Transformers, now he's doing it to the turtles. Next he'll find a way to **** up the Thundercats or Voltron or some other beloved piece of my childhood.
What if... this isnt Bay's fault... but rather Megan Fox's fault?
She has gone on record saying she would even love to play a live version of Sailor Moon after all, so maybe the real problem here is Megan Fox and not Bay?

You're joking, right?
You guys watched that trailer, and the only problem you saw in it was that Megan Fox is in the movie? That's the only flaw you saw?
Cons:
1) The Turtles are enormous. Like 6+ feet tall judging by the few glimpses we get of them. Also, their shells make them look like hunchbacks (if they had lowered Leo's shell about half a head, it'd be fine). As it stands, how does he reach his swords on his shell?
Thanks for pointing this out. When I saw this trailer online, I just couldn't put my finger on what was wrong with Leo. Their shells seem to be way to high on their backs.
After watching the trailer though a couple good times, I am hoping it is just the view point. Some of the other shots don't look that bad.

Technically, she called him a Nazi.
This film looks terrible just from the trailer alone, connecting April's Father with Shredder, and making Shredder a white guy...
Really, Michael Bay? So, we're just gonna go and change iconic characters' ethnicities...
