I dunno whether I love the movie or not. I think the subject matter and theme is simply too dark to be handled in the fashion Wes Anderson is known for, and he knew this and so chose to make the film as absurd as he possibly can. He succeeded in doing that, but the film... just feels off.

Pretty dreadful. It was basically held together because Jolie was the only one really giving a ****. But it was still really weird, kinda preachy, had very odd "rape revenge" undertones, and was a general mess.
-= WOTC Gatherer Enhanced =- theme project for Gatherer from Stylish.
I really appreciate help with developing the theme, so please send me ideas or CSS code and I will try to include it in my theme.
It was a brilliant sci-fi and a masterpiece art object. If you like sci-fi and/or cinema in general, go and see it, preferably in an IMAX theatre.
But let me warn you: It is so good that you will want to see it more than once. I normally don't post here but I wanted this film to be seen by people.

Just rewatched dodgeball. Hadn't seen it in close to 10 years (damn that makes me feel old) so it was sort of nice to be surprised by some of the jokes.

I tried watching The Interview but stopped at....idk how many minutes in. It was basically a bunch of toilet humor and sexual innuendo. I think I should go back and watch some old Mel Brooks movies from my youth like Space Balls. I'm sure there were plenty of racy jokes that I didn't pick up on as a kid but I also have a gut feeling that absurdist movies back then were actually clever and more than "haha anal sex", "haha effeminate men", "haha engrish". Or is it just rosy sunglasses?
I watched As above so below the other day. It was pretty enjoyable considering the themes of the movie are subjects i'm interested (symbolism, dante's inferno, alchemy, archeology). I loved the dark atmosphere of the catacombs and how the caracters just have to face their own fears/regrets. It's true that as a horror movie it's kinda ordinary (actually there is maybe one scare?? and you see it in the trailer) but if you're into the stuff i've mentioned earlier it's worth the watch. The only main downside of the movie is that it's a bit short: some characters aren't too much developped so you wonder why stuff happens to them.

The last move I watched is Lord of War starring Nic Cage as an Ukrainian immigrant turned illicit arms merchant. I love character pieces like this and Lord of War doesn't disappoint. Nic Cage is on his A-game with this one, playing a complicated character that is part caring family man, part dispassionate monster and 100% addicted to the adrenaline rush that comes with a profession whose clients are just as likely to kill them as make them rich. It drags a little in the first act, especially the subplot involving courting the supermodel, but after it gets going, it really grips. The ending is a perfect visceral gut punch. Highly recommended.

I've been binge watching movies made by Hayao Miyazaki including Howls moving castle, castle in the sky, princess mononoke, Lupin III, my neighbor totoro, spirited away
