Could be a lot of things. Maybe Satan helps them not get convicted or something
More likely its because there is a correlation between education and being law abiding, as well as being non-religious.[1] So, educated people are less included to be criminals and more included to be non-religious.
That's not what I meant. IIRC, I read an article a while back regarding people who committed violent crimes and serving a very long prison sentence, becoming religious while in prison. I can't find it right now, but I'll keep looking sporadically.
