The way you defined toy is- Something just to have fun with.
Pretty much. Is this not the meaning of what a toy is? The dictionary says "object to play with."
I buy a <THING> just to <DO RECREATIONAL ACTIVITY> because it's <SYNONYM FOR FUN>. In short, because I have fun <USING THING>.
This is not you using a weapon as a toy because?
Oh, I see, so what you are really saying is a weapon should never be toy. So guns should never be bought and used for entertainment because they also fall under the classification of weapon....

noun
a thing designed or used for inflicting bodily harm or physical damage.
What about tomahawk throwers? Or throwing knives? Or people that archery shoot? Or people that have swords? Or a baseball bat? Or as I believe was stated before... I can easily turn my car into a "weapon" by driving it through a crowded park... So you really want to say anything that can be used as a weapon should never be used for entertainment?
I think you are the only person here that finds the idea of using a weapon for entertainment to be "wrong". Yeah when you say "I use my AK as a toy" it sounds bad... and it's language that people try to avoid because a gun is not a conventional toy. Just like an ATV is not a conventional toy. When you say toy you imagine a 5 year old with a piece of plastic, not an adult with a possibly life threatening object, but technically yes they all fit the definition "toy".
There's a sliding scale of "value as a weapon" that I feel you're willfully ignoring.
Guns are high on this scale, knives are lower. It's probably why we can agree that personal nukes should be illegal.

What's the big deal? You could have played multiple Righteous Avengers for years now.

I dont think so...
I agree that personal nukes are silly because it is virtually impossible to legally use a nuke. There is no reason to own something that literally serves no purpose (other than "look at me I own a nuke!")... by that same reasoning though I don't believe the government should have nukes either.
As long as there are legal ways to use an item people should be able to own those items.
If it's about purpose and odds wouldn't you never own a gun since shooting yourself is statistically more likely than an assailant?
You own a very dangerous toy. To me this is highly irresponsible, akin to owning other unnecessarily powerful weapons that you only plan to play with.

Yes, I own a dangerous toy... I also own many dangerous tools (like a chain saw). I find it no more irresponsible than drinking alcohol or gambling. I also have updated my own electrical... if I do it wrong my house could burn down and my insurance would not cover it... but I am confident enough in my own ability to not burn my house down. Some people do dangerous things at a level that is ok... some people go overboard.

So what? The criminal in that event was not using his knife as a toy. I use my guns as "toys". Nobody gets hurt or dies when I "play" with my guns. (other than some plants, occasionally animals and my own hearing)
I'm a card-carrying member of the NRA with an NRA sticker on my car and I think that's a really bad idea. At my high school it would have taught Gangstalicious and Thugnificent how to be more effective gang members.

Because nobody died

Oh Really?
