So it seems that the lawyers released that the fetus is developing majorly abnormal. Can't even tell what sex it is since the legs are so malformed and it has extra fluid on the brain and a malformed heart. I am going to guess that Texas is going to keep it brought to term so that it can suffer more because "protecting life."
For the record, on the creepiness scale personally I find the zombie womb creepier than the face transplant.
I think that when growing up if I found out I was born from 'my mother turned incubator', I would be disturbed but thankful, as I would be alive, as opposed to never have existed beyond the foetal state. Making it individual, and personal like this, I would say incubate away.
Opposed to this however, being born from a zombie womb is damn creepy.
msun: Knives scoop ice cream.
Highroller: No they don't, knives don't scoop. Spoons scoop.
msun: Well, knives SHOULD scoop icecream.
Highroller: We have spoons that do it. Moreover, the shape of a knife that would scoop ice cream would make it horrible for performing the functions of a knife.
msun: Highroller, you bring up spoons as though they were the utensil used for scooping ice cream.

"2. Ms. Munoz is brain dead so the Texas law about a DNR doesn’t apply. In this case the hospital is a) is following some bizarre pro-life agenda, b) can’t read/understand legislation, c) has an anti-brain death doctor in the ICU (apparently they exist). This scenario has John Peter Smith hospital defiling a dead body as the Texas legislation can not apply here."
1st, on a sliding scale of number of weeks pregnant, does this change anything for anyone? Say 1 week pregnant vs. 18 weeks?
2nd, if the State is so vested in keeping the child alive, since there was a DNR in place the Father should be absolved of all financial obligations for anything past the legal time of death.
3rd, No one says the father needs to raise the child. Adoption is not always the best option, but it does help other couples who for whatever reason could not have a child of their own.

The popular media has casted the debate as the right to life vs the right to choice.
But in reality the pro-life agenda is about state power.
The reality is you're going to have many sad cases such as this. It's harsh, but that's life. Brain dead woman has fetus gestating inside her.
At the end of the day SOMEONE has to make a decision whether to let the woman die or keep the woman on life support to keep the fetus gestating.
If you are pro-life then what that means is that you are putting the power of protecting life in the hands of the state. The state as in your congress people, as in your government, as in the people running the DMV, except for instead of the DMV, they are running your body --as in the police who pull you over by deciding you didn't stop fully at the red light, except instead of a red light, those same discretionary powers are to be adjucated over your body and your privacy.
You cannot be pro-life in the abstract. You cannot be pro-life in a manner that abides by a Disney channel level understanding of good and evil.
Because at the end of the day heralding the ideal of being "pro-life" means giving state officials the power over your body. If you think state officials are incompetent, then you are ceding your power over to the incompetant.
If you are pro-choice, nothing precludes you from choosing life, just as nothing precluded this woman and her family from choosing to keep her body alive to keep the fetus gestating. We are only here because the state has been given power to push their decision-making powers overriding the wishes of the family.

That someone could be you, or it could be the guy at the DMV.
Your entire arguement is based off a false premise.
If Abortion were illegal, the government wouldn't be able to make a choice either, because the choice is already made. No guy at the DMV is going to have the authority to choose the other way.
They might have the authority to give you the choice in special circumstances, but they would not be able to force an abortion to happen.
And If the mother was the only stakeholder, than yes, she should be able to choose whether she wanted an abortion or not, but there is another major stakeholder, and for that stakeholder, abortion is a matter of life and death.

Or let it die.
Probably let it die.

Trust me! IM FAT!!!!
From what I hear, she and Erick had DNR's. Her family also has said that she did not wish to be kept alive.
Since she is dead, this poses a problem...
They seem to be violating her DNR (and her wishes) because of the fetus.

If this goes through, in my opinion it's the right call. Just my opinion though.
