I once had a "Prophet of Kruphix that wouldn't die"... who lived three times until someone eventually uses Perilous Vault or something. (Under my control at all times though - no one stole it.)
(Using Supply // Demand early on to search for Prophet = table groans.)
And yay, new sig there!
EDIT: I was hoping they weren't using the same Zombie token art again (that we saw in Innistrad, Avacyn Restored, M14, Conspiracy, and M15)... but I figured they would because it's the plane of Innistrad. Aw.
Anyone planning on building around the new legendaries? I'd love to hear some of your sweet deck ideas!
I was looking at Kotbophed, but while waiting for his release, I started playing with Sheoldred and kind of fell in love. Now I've played Mono Black Reanimator for about a week and am really enjoying it.
Still not too sure what to do with those cards yet...
I'm thinking of removing the Primal Surge idea from my Karrthus, Tyrant of Jund deck, and moving that to the Horde of Notions deck, to keep all the "infinite combo"-style stuff in one deck rather than having two separate decks that each could win with a single card (because people usually don't like that kind of deck). The Karrthus deck would then pick up some new tricks with some non-permanent cards from Dragons of Tarkir. This also causes some complications because a lot of non-permanent cards would have to be taken out of the Horde of Notions deck as well.
Mono red is already kind of bad. Maybe just a flavory deck.
On a side note, I was recently asked what my favorite colors and creature type were. The type was easy, dragons, but I couldn't decide the color. So what do I build? Scion of the Ur-Dragon. Not a comboey one. Just like... Dragons. With all the colors. Yeah.

I like the idea of having all that "stuff" in one deck, that generally makes for less feel-bads. Plus now you can do some rebuilding (my favorite part of magic)!

LOL! Why pick one color when you can pick five!?
Sounds like fun to me, just remember that some people will always see Scion combo when you sit down to play. You may have to accept being the target for the first round or two.
Technically in my deck, Tooth and Nail can win by getting Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker and Village Bell-Ringer. I'm replacing that with Primal Surge - which is a "worse" card in this deck, and I also have to make my deck all permanents to use it. So the one-card win is still there, but I have to work harder for it (one more mana to cast, and also the deckbuilding restriction).
Uggghhh. In case I haven't mentioned, I hate Prophet of Kruphix. We played EDH tonight at my friends house, and it took several players AND several exile-effects against Kruphix EDH (exiling Kozilek, Ulamog and Prophet) for the game to be even somehow fair... for everyone-against-Simic.
And those times that I've played it, even I didn't enjoy playing it. It just made the game miserable for me and others.
/rant
On another matter, I decided to build Snow Swans in Modern. All that I'm missing are foil snow-covered basics...

Heh. Prophet is only fun when there are steal effects.
Swans. The bane of my existence. It just kills top tier decks and then loses to everything else. Its actually kinda funny.
I just hope that they ban Prophet. Sylvan Primordial and Primeval Titan made me grief less than this card.
I don't play Prophet right now, but it really doesn't bother me too much. Though playing mono black Sheoldred, opponent's creatures usually don't last a full turn.
Anyways... what do you think of this idea? (Not my idea, just something silly.)
Primal Surge V2 7GGG
Sorcery
Exile the top card of your library. If it's a permanent card, you may put it onto the battlefield. If you do, repeat this process. Spell mastery - If there are two or more instant and/or sorcery cards in your graveyard, creatures you control get +3/+3 and gain trample and haste until end of turn.

Don't these fight against each other? One part wants you to play only permanents, while Spell Mastery wants you to play instants and/or sorceries?
I started to tweak my decks around. My five-color deck (now with Primal Surge) will need more new cards to fulfill some roles previously filled by instant or sorcery cards before (Soul of Innistrad is one of the closest things to a flashback effect that's useful for me now, for example, and I could use a Genesis). My other deck now has more freedom to put in non-permanent cards, so I will tweak things as I play with it more.
Hey guys! Sorry I keep going MIA. School is in its last two weeks, so I'm writing and studying like mad (actually, like a Mad Hatter! see what I did there?) Bad puns aside, I'll be a little more talkative after the 24th... I'm pretty pleased with Origins, overall. I'm seeing lots of stuff for most of my EDH decks, so I'm excited. I'm thinking of getting a box to draft with and to hopefully get some goodies for my decks.
Anyways, I'll see ya'll on the flipside! Hi-ho, Textbook! Awaaaaaaay!
I got 2 Kytheon's Irregulars and Kytheon himself in my red (wut) sealed box at the prerelease, drew at least one of them every game until the finals. Which I lost.
Btw, what are your thoughts on Terastodon and other green removal-on-stick? (This is directed to everyone not named Madhatter)
Personally, I feel that Terastodon most of the time doesn't really do good for me. Those tokens usually hurt. Woodfall Primus is really good, especially with Mikaeus. Destructor Dragon is just weaker Primus.
Same goes for Mold Shambler, since you don't get the trigger if you cheat it to battlefield. Nessian Demolok rarely destroys what you want, unless politics plays a part of your meta (or there is always "that one guy").
Other options of note include Acidic Slime (can get rid of lands, deathtouch can come in handy), and Brutalizer Exarch (expensive, more often used for tutoring instead).
True. I forgot those, even though I run Brutalizer Exarch myself.
(Acidic Slime is another thing I've wanted to run, but lack of slots/my meta prevents me from using it.)

Hi TheEndIsNEar. Welcome to this side of MTGS.
(Btw, how was/is your trip to Europe?)
Also, has anyone else here experienced that your sense of monetary value of cards gets blurred when it comes to EDH?
I've noticed recently that spending 5€ per Serum Vision is really expensive, but paying ~50€ for a Scrubland is not bad at all...

Yes, I drop by around here every now and then.
Maybe TheendIsNear could post a "Four Truths and One Lie" riddle about himself (as is customary with all newcomers around here)?
As for money stuff... well, for a dual land it seems like you're getting your money's worth. For the Serum Visions, it seems like way too much for just a common.
My friend and I have been drafting it with the boxes we bought (one box each), but it's a really hard set to draft. At once there's a lot going on and yet not enough to do. It doesn't help that WotC is blurring established deck archetypes (like White Weenie... it's now WG-Weenie, which is not as efficient) and it's muddling the play-quality of the set. All for what? Backstories on the PW that no one really cares about or likes? Genius...

It's all relative, really. A Scrubland is a uinque kind of land that we KNOW will never be reprinted in any way, shape, or form. Serum Visions... well, a better draw spell exists, and they might print something new to take its place in Modern (I assume it's price-tag has to do with Modern).

I guess that's enough Origins for me.
But then I got a foil Nissa.
Which was cool.

Ainok Survivalist and Nantuko Vigilante seems bit too expensive...
Caustic Caterpillar is something I'm interested in testing.
Conclave Naturalists is just expensive Reclamation Sage
Same applies to Indrik Stomphowler too.
Rust Scarab never gets to destroy anything when you need it to.
Nullmage Advocate doesn't seem that good on paper, thought I have no experience with him.
Nullmage Shepherd is good, especially if you play Elf-tribal/tokens.
Reclamation Sage is good. Nuff said.
Sylvok Replica is not bad, especially if you have artifact-theme.
Viridian Zealot is good.
Wickerbough Elder is bit more expensive than Zealot, but it leaves at least a body behind.
