That trial I played was ... well ... super disappointing. Timing probably wasn't optimal, as there was a PTQ about 2 hours from the Swiss border at the same date, and I somehow feel players were more interesting in taking holidays sponsored by WotC instead of winning 2 measly byes. We had a crowd of 14 partecipants. 4 rounds of Limited, then top 8.
Match 1, I'm up against a guy that plays Magic since like 2 months. Unfortunately, I draw 25 lands in 2 games while he goes like Brimaz into Anax and Cymede into random 'target my dude' stuff.
Match 2 is against my first opponent's buddy, who started playing Magic at about the same time. I ramp with Super-Elk, drop a Ravager and get a 12/12. My Griptide foils his Necrobite-my-blocker-plan and he gets eaten by a big green dork. In the second game, I prove what an amazing card Augury is by revealing 5 lands (thank Keranos that they don't cluster my next 5 draw steps!), drop my dragon, end up trading it against a 7/7 Shrike Harpy, but then, I draw more 3-power dorks than he does and I overwhelm him.
Match 3 is pretty much a mirror match - except that my opponent doesn't pack islands. Game 1 goes to Elk ramp into Stormbreath Dragon. Game 2, I land a Ravager and get to eat his Borderland Minotaur. He plays Fanatic of Mogis and passes. I swing and keep my mana open for shenanigans. He swings with the Fanatic. 'Crypsis, targeting Ravager?' - 'Go for it.' I untap the hydra. Then ... 'But before blockers, I give my Fanatic +2/+2, then Fall of the Hammer your guy.' - 'Sounds good.' - 'Why don't you put your hydra into your grave?' - 'Because it has protection from creatures ...'
Oops.
Before match 4, I realize I can draw into the top 8. My opponent (Nr. 3 of the 'new player club') happily accepts my offer, and we switch our decks for our EDHs.
The top 8 draft is a) timed and b) silly. I get super weird signals (guys, I can't pick all the awesome cards you're passing me!) and end up with U/W heroic splash G for the unicorn and a Nessian Asp. Unfortunately, I end up playing against the guy who drops Kiora when he's ahead on board and I take a quick 0-2 loss.
How was your pool a weird joke? You got card advantage, removal, ramp, and 3 big bonkers beaters. Seemed solid to me. Match 1, my heart sank. Match 2 made me wonder what situation you pay Tribute to Ravager without a way to get rid. Match 3 made me chuckle at the RTFC moment. And match 4 is the untold side EDH story. So disheartening to see you lose the first match after top 8, Better luck next time.

Considering the rest of the deck was pretty much vanilla dudes and ways to clear the way for vanilla dudes ... text on my cards? Totally overrated.
As for the EDH side story: he was on Experiment Kraj, I was on Circu. Unfortunately, +1/+1 counter happy decks don't take Black Sun's Zenith into Torpor Orb into Mindslaver (forcing him to play his Triskelion, kill half his board and force the other half into a suicide attack) too well ...
Currently spending my time doing energy calculations (WAHAHA THE POWER!), fighting viruses (I lost my voice today, deal damage in the form of -1/-1 counters and if I sneeze at people 10 times, they get sick - either I'm undergoing phyresis or caught a cold ...) and recovering from ... this event, with all the side effects.

So, I've had an eventful weekend....not really. My oldest swallowed a penny, freaked out because it hurt. So, after a quick google on the subject, and not knowing the date on the penny, my wife took her to the hospital. Turns out, pennies produced during or after 1982 contain Zinc, a corrosive, which can be harmful, especially if lodged in the esophagus. As it went, it sure was lodged, and she had to be taken by ambulance down to Toledo Hospital. They watched her overnight and did a second X-ray in the morning, hoping it would move into her stomache and all would be well, but no such luck. They had to knock her out and use a scope to pull it out, kept her to ensure she could eat and hold down food and release her. In and out, overnight, no problems, right? Wrong. What would have been a minor scare at the ER, was made worse by the fact that my wife drove teh van to the local hospital here, and left the car. The Van has all the carseats, so if I needed to leave for any reason, I would have to take them. I don't have any kind of babysitter. Furthermore, I had my wife take the "good phone" that is monthly unlimited, and I stayed home with the minute phone, as she could message me through the FB Messenger app........ except she forgot to bring the phone charger. so within 2 hours, the phone was dead and I was running out of minutes, the van at one hospital here, and the keys to it with her in Toledo. Thankfully, the weekend went as smoothly as can be expected, the phone that once had 116 minutes, is down to 9, but at least it isn't 0. Most importantly, my daughter and wife made it home safe and sound, even with their ride back to the van paid for. It's almost like someone hit the rewind button.
Oh, did I mention, I heard my wife talking to me while I was in bed and she was in toledo? Yeah, apparently we're going to have that conversation later, and she didn't want to talk about it in front of the kids.
If anyone would like to set up a game session on MWS, I would love to sit down and do something that isn't housework this weekend. I'm thinking T2 testing, or Legacy.

Yeah, she's doing fine. Also, it's given us an opportunity to show the other kids what can happen if they leave small things lying around where the baby could swallow it. She's still got a sore throat, but overall it's been a valuable lesson for everyone.

Been putzing per usual. Played some game of EDH and tested my new Ruric Thar deck. My friend has a "no thinking" Ruhan deck, so I adopted his thinking and made a Ruric Thar deck with almost all creatures in it (save 4). Played a 3 way with a durdle cleric deck + friend's Zedruu. They did nothing while I played Domri Rade, 'drew' extra cards and then ROFL stomped them with fatties + Domri emblem. Game 2 I played Wrexial against 'durdle cleric' (Lady Evangela), Zedruu, & newcomer Wort, the Raidmother. Wort played T1 Burgeoning + Sol Ring. The rest of of durdled along while Wort played Seedborn Muse + something else dumb. So I had no qualm using Bribery on him grabbing his Terastadon and nuking his Ring + 2 dual lands (leaving him with 2 lands. He proceeded to swoop. >_> Sucks to get your mana nuked but don't be surprised when I target you after you ramp out with Burgeoning and then drop Seedborn Muse.... It's called 'breaking your knees' in so I don't die to a conspired tooth and nail later. My friend scooped as well, so Evangela and I played it out. OOO! That's right. Evangela played a Rite of Replication targetting Terasadon. Wort was like "**** THIS! I concede!" in order to prevent him from getting the creature.... More of ">_>" this. It's along the same lines of getting hit for lethal and conceding so the attacking player doesn't get combat triggers (swords of "&"). I find that a bit unsportsmanlike. So Friend and Wort conceded and I let Evangela get his Terastadon and we played a derp 1v1. Till I nearly milled him out then smacked him with a large Consuming Aberration.
Game 3 was Braids (me), Azusa, Zedruu, and Wort. I play a turn 4 braids to make good times and 'wall' with Stormtide Leviathan. My friend playing Zedruu thought it be hilarious if he made all creatures a Stormtide using Mirrorweave... >_> I promptly died. ******* friends!! backstabbing ********s! X_x Azusa wins that one.
Game 4 was Briads, someone I don't remember, Wort, and Nekusarr. Too long don't read. I cast Pact of Negation to stop 8 2/3 planets from wrecking face (probably from Azusa again). And then Wort was like 'herp derp!' Tooth and Nail! Conspired! Terastadon, nuke your lands Braids. hur dur dur... >_> Just another goodstuff.dec from Wort. Nothing surprised in the least. Doesn't like it when he gets stomped on in the other games, but is a poopface when he's just slapping face (a note: his tooth and nail play was verbally douchy. Just playing the goodstuff was. Though he came across a sore loser in the first 2 matches).
And I think there was a game 5. Wrexial, 8.5 Tails, Wort, and Nekusarr. Tutored for Sangromancer. Between wheels from me and Nekusarr and death, lifegain is pretty good. And copied Nekusarr's Venser's Journal for all the lolz. Wort died early for not having lifegain. I was at 20 commander damage from 8.5 after Damnation'ing the board. Could have snapped it back, but went to play a creature equipped with SoLaS so I could block 8.5 tails. Then 8.5 tails casts Spirit Mantle on it. FUUUUUUU! =p then my friend was squeaking out a win. He tutored for a win con in Nekusarr (my guess was that it was Grafted Exoskeleton. That + Nekusarr = all the poison! =D He plays a Magus of the Jar and passes. 8.5 Tails swings and puts him to 6 life. Nekusarr casts Blue Sun's Zenith for 5 targetting 8.5. Wrath happens and then 8.5 casts White Sun's Zenith for 4 cats and wins in the next combat.

Speaking of Jace, Architect of Though, I bucked up and bought a playset of the Jace vs. Vraska Duel Deck. And yes, it was for a playsets of the foil alt art Jace and the alt art Remands. I'm not ashamed, and the duel deck has been fun as hell.

@Aja thanks man, any suggestions? I would imagine Remand Jace and Vraska will all get at least a little tacked on over the price of the originals. Not until the Duel deck stops being distributed. The Elves vs. Goblins Deck is ridiculously expensive now after market, Counterspell from Jace vs. Chandra is like $9 or something like that. Putting a limited print on alternative artwork for an already expensive(as an uncommon) staple will drive the price. If people are doing what I am and buying 4 decks, then it's going to drive them up as well.
@Huggles I hope that isn't true, and might not be since Legacy still has sizable showings at tourneys. However, Legacy could take a back seat to Modern fairly easily. Also, there has to be people buying them in order to maintain a high valuation.

No one really plays legacy around here anymore. It makes me pretty sad. I hope this is just a typical legacy funk. But I think there is some truth in what Yomammako is saying about Vintage. I will cry.
I don't know whether it's the exchange ratio between USD and EUR, but your prices seem really hight for me. I bought last summer 3 x Underground sea (ex, english), 1 Italian Tabernacle at the Pendrell Vale and english Badlands for 550€ (including insures shipping etc.) (Also, 110€ for Volcanic Island and Italian the Abyss)
... and all of this for EDH. (Well, 2 x UG sea for Legacy, but...)
Also, the Warlords of Khanar has been known for a while in Rumour Mill...
Lol @expensive cards. Only way I'm getting an revised lands are from 'hand me downs' of someone who played then and just hands them to me. =p
During my downtime at work, I'm construting edh decks. Out of Tariel, horde of notions and Horobi, I'm picking Tariel and looking up all available cards through gatherer. I never knew how many CMC 2 or less or even equal to 3 there were. Starting 4+ and then cards I forge into. No clue what theme I'm going with yet, but it will have Sunforger in it. =)
The Vulcan side says it's illogical. The real me is basically saying something weird that could possibly put me in the loony bin. It was profound when she had confirmed she was trying to call to me because she was scared and alone with our daughter in the hospital in Toledo with, at that point, no way to get home.
I'm surprised no one else even said anything about that.

I would imagine that it's a demand thing. While the game is played worldwide, most of the bigger tourneys are in the US. That being said, you know how to get a considerable amount of money of that stuff.

What about Tariel being used IN Kaalia of the Vast? She basically builds herself, I made my kife a Kaalia deck and its basically every good spot removal(dreadbore, Downfall, Swords, Path, Oring, Journey to Nowhere, go for the throat, doom blade, Murder, Shock, Bolt etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.) And the biggest, nastiest, most ridiculous Demons, Angels, and Dragons I can get my hands on. You don't need a draw engine. You can easily play off of top decking. It just wins. Angelic Arbiter dropping on a swing with Kaalia hosed my friend's Krenko Token Boss deck that had over 200 tokens drop at once, putting the total over 300. Made the mistake of not just swinging, because he top decked Goblin Recruiter and tutored. lol

My pool also was some kind of weird joke. My deck was G/R splash U for two bounce spells and a Steam Augury (because reverse Fact or Fiction is better than no Fact or Fiction at all), a lot of vanilla dorks, two Nessian Wilds Ravagers (provoking a lot of 'wtf' moments from my opponents), a Stormbreah Dragon and the Elk of Doom.

The most immediate changes I can think to be beneficial would be take out Whelming Wave all together, replace with 3rd Hero's Downfall and 3rd Ratchet Bomb or 2 Cyclonic Rift, and Replacing dark Betrayal with 2 Ultimate Price Thoughts and comments are welcomed and appreciated
Speaking of Jace, Architect of Though, I bucked up and bought a playset of the Jace vs. Vraska Duel Deck. And yes, it was for a playsets of the foil alt art Jace and the alt art Remands. I'm not ashamed, and the duel deck has been fun as hell.

I will cry.

Did you guys hear about that "Warlords of Khanar" trademark rumour? Interesting stuff.
I'm learning to make alters.
... and all of this for EDH. (Well, 2 x UG sea for Legacy, but...)
Also, the Warlords of Khanar has been known for a while in Rumour Mill...

Yeah I had posted in that thread a while ago, commenting that it's incredibly similar to TBBT cardgame called Warlords of Ka'ah.
Made the mistake of not just swinging, because he top decked Goblin Recruiter and tutored. lol
