Well, the Weatherlight was an artificial spark transporter, if you wanna call it that. It allowed people besides planewalkers to traverse the multiverse. Urza is brilliant...
Anyways, if we were making an artificial plane, it doesn't so much need to connect a bunch of planes together, but rather could act as a "dumping grounds" for creatures (Legendary generals, etc.) that planeswalkers (basically us, as players) use. Whatever the legends do afterward is up to them. They can build a new, cosmopolitan society or they can create factions and constantly war with each other. Perhaps some of them became resentful towards planeswalkers (because, say, the 'walker manipulated, coerced, or enslaved that legend into service) while other were loyal (these legends might have been treated better by theit 'walker masters, or otherwise allied themselves willingly). Maybe?
has anyone played wort raid mother ? if so tell me your experience
I used to have a Wort deck that played big sorceries and token generators. It was quite fun but didn't do either particularly well, so I dismantled it and eventually replaced with Jhoira.
Welp, finally the CCM is over, too bad we were confused about the time extension, Generic played a great game though, and we probably wouldnt have figured out even if we had time.

Yeah. Gen played really well, I (and according to other's QT's, they too) were convinced that Gaymers were mafia...
Also guys, be prepared. If nothing unexpected happens, I'll be the one who holds the next Clan Contest, so you are on your own...

Hey guys! I haven't been here awhile! Boy do I have a lot to tell! I bought a box of khans. Opened some SWEET things, like three fetches, plus a pack that had Sarkhan plus a FOIL Utter End!
Anyway, I'm in need of assistance! I'm building a deck based around Kamishiro Rize from the Tokyo Ghoul Anime and Manga, featuring Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief and I was wondering if anyone A.) Knew a good place to get her altered into Rize, and B.) If anyone wanted to help me tweak the deck. Thanks! I'll try to be here more often, btw. Been super busy with school.
As for altered, my best experience has been alteredmtgcardart.com. It's pricy, but you send them the card and tell them exactly what you want and they do a great job. The queue can get pretty long though.
As for the deck, do you have a link to the deck list?
Here's the list I didn't explain a lot of thematic choices here, but it's pretty much just mono black. Kinda wanna make it more interesting than that, though, if you have ideas.
EDIT: Also, since I saw talk of interconnected artificial planes that have something to do with our clans, what about some sort of arenas, where planeswalkers come to fight by summoning their champions (generals)
I like the undead stax thing you have going on. Seems like a really fun deck. Some of the things I don't understand. Gutless Ghoul, Dark Hatchling, and Stab Wound are very flavorful. But don't really work with anything in your deck. (Not enough recursion for the ghoul and definitely enough removal. Seizan, Perverter of Truth gives some cards and fits the stax theme pretty well. Exquisite Blood and Sanguine Bond are pretty flavorful, and would get pretty stupid with stuff like Exsanguinate. They do infinite combo together. (If you have a problem with that). Cabal Coffers is also stupid good in mono black. Very nice deck though. I approve.

Thanks! Yeah, Gutless Ghoul and Hatchling and Stab Wound are really just there for flavor. Stab Wound actually can add up pretty quickly, but Hatchling and Ghoul should go eventually. I do want Exquisite Blood because it's flavorful as hell and life gain is nice when I'm paying life for cards. Seizan was a previous general of a mono black EDH, and he'll find a nice encore in here.
Other cards I'm considering are Anowon, the Ruin Sage, and All is Dust. Anowon is nice and stax-ish, while All is Dust helps me out against enchantments.
Also, Underworld Connections is getting added to the deck. Left it out because I forgot to take apart the deck that had my three copies in it.
In general, I'm trying to fit with this theme of more. Rize wants more, more, more. More life, more creatures, more mana. And she likes to take those things from her opponents.
I think I can. My commander can hold her own with very little support from my hand. I don't have too much reanimation, but I do have a lot of cards that I can use to regenerate my hand (My friend pointed out to me that Nihilistic Glee is actually really solid in this deck because I can empty my hand, draw a card, play it, draw a card, play it, etc, etc, wash, rinse, repeat.
As for getting her altered. I REALLY want to, but it's so damn expensive. Still, having possibly the only altar of Drana as Rize in the world would make me very happy.
I want to make a ghave or a maelstrom deck but don't know any staples, any hints?
Well that depends on what you want to do with Maelstrom and Ghave.
My Wanderer deck is basically RUG goodstuff with cmc <8. It's fun cascading into everything.
My Ghave deck makes tokens, then pumps them.
As far as staples go... Again, it depends on your strategy. But no matter what, Ghave looooooves Doubling Season and Grave Pact. (Or any of their imitators)
I always recommend for EDH decks starting with kind of a textbook deck, playing around with it, and then changing it to suit your personal needs. So, I'd recommend heading over to the EDH forum and seeing if there are any primers or lists that appeal to you, and trying to build one of those first.
"Staples" in EDH aren't really that, to be honest. Should you run Soul Ring? Probably. But your deck won't be unplayable jank without it. Same goes for most cards considered "staples" IMO. Don't worry so much about staples as worry about what you really enjoy playing.
Grave Pact and Bitterblossom would give me the set-up and fodder I need for Bitter Ordeal, while also acting as field control. Leyline is plain ole grave-hate and permanently removes anything I send to the graveyard.
Nice thing is, I already have the main pieces and would just need the Bitter Ordeal and Inquisition.. I even have the handy B lands, like Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth.
HOWEVER! I am always very hesitant to make mono-coloured decks. It feels like putting all your eggs in one basket and lacks the versatility that other colours can provide. (Seriously, Black has only no real way to deal with enchantments and one way to handle artifacts.. and it's not as good as White's destruction/exile or even Blue's bounce. Still, Gate to Phyrexia does feed the Grave Pact/Bitter Ordeal engine -- it just takes a lot of work and set-up.) Plus, Iona is a major threat, though if I'm ripping a library/hand apart, I can remove her easily enough.
What are your opinions on this theme? How do you feel about mono-coloured decks, and how do you get around the inadequacies of the colour? (Artifacts are, granted, a good way, but they tend to be inefficient.) Do you have any suggestions?
Hoo! So, I'm not the only one who noticed that thread and liked it. I'd say stick with monocoloured. You don't seem to have mono-B deck, so this would be a good time to create one.
Plus, mono-B can remove artifacts and enchantments, with the help of Karn and Spine of Ish Sah. And all the mass-wiping stones (O-Stone, Disk, Perilous Vault...).

You could donate a Rats of Rath to an opponent with black mana and bribe them.
#protech
But in all seriousness, Bur's right. The mass removal options in colorless are good enough to answer the artifacts you'd want to destroy. I'd also add Ratchet Bomb and Powder Keg. Personal favorites of mine.
The ticking up makes people who loose to it sweat.

Powder Keg is a good one..Thanks! I'll definitely get myself at least a copy of that! Now to deal with enchantments... (besides Rachet Bomb)
Edit: it also occurred to me that I could donate the Rats of Rath to a Black-mage and Mindslaver them. Even easier to do with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth making all the lands Swamps... >_> I might just have to try this.
Been away to long, has anyone else realized, what is ok in one edh group is possibly high treason in another. I.e Kaalia
Yes. I typically play in a really cutthroat meta (one of the guys used to own a shop where we'd all play, but now we just go over to his house). Scion, Zur, Zedruu, Azami and Oloro are running around in addition to my Niv 1.0, Derevi, and Grand Arbiter Augustin. I've taken those decks (mine, not theirs.. of course) to various LGS's for tourneys on occasion, but got hated out so fast... it was totally a BS move, but once, a guy (not in my pool) told someone in my pod on t1, before I'd even drawn my first card, to take me out as soon as possible. I never went back there.
