I'm starting to work on my first cube. It's only going to be 180 cards but it's not going to include any lands. It will be enough cards for up to 6 people to each draft 2 boosters then add basic lands to make a 40 card deck. I'm going to make sure each color has the same number of cards and has a good mana curve. I don't have any strategy for a theme. I'm basically just going to pick cards that jump out at me.
Might I suggest making sure each colour has a selection of cards that are good for aggro decks, a section good for control and a section that could go either way? I'd also recommend an even spread of vanilla creatures, creatures with enter the battlefield effects and creatures with activated and triggered abilities.
Also, you're going to need to figure out if you are going to go with gold cards and how many. And you'll also want to make sure different colour combinations are all viable if you start putting in gold cards.
Thanks for the advice. I'm dividing the cards evenly into 7 parts: gold, colorless, and the 5 colors. I can't bring myself to put vanilla creatures in, but I can always go back later and swap some out.
I'm getting closer to perfecting my Serra Avatar + Creature Bond + Legerdemain + Soul Rend combo. And yes, I'm aware that I could make this a 3 card combo with Phthisis, but then I wouldn't be able to call it a Creature Bond deck.
So my friend and I decided to play on cockatrice for the first time together (it was my first time playing with someone I knew on there) and I don't use it much so I didn't have a lot of decks. To show off I decide to make a deck in 5 minutes before we play. No testing or anything.
I didn't notice anything wrong until I had full control of the game and played my win con.
Welp, I made 2 EDH decks a few weeks ago and this is what I have so far after some playtesting. Budget suggestions are welcome. Does anyone have a link to the banned list so I can see if any of these cards are on it?
So I have bought a bunch of Yugioh cards for my daughter over the last couple years and I read up on the rules, but I just can't seem to start playing with her. I'm not sure if Yugioh is really more confusing than MTG or if it just seems that way because MTG is familiar to me. I guess I'll have to throw together a couple decks and start learning the game.

I'd actually recommend not worrying too much about aggro in every color for a 180 card cube. Jamal Usman (and a few others since) have pointed out that a lot of last-pick savannah lions end up in cubes because people give an obligatory amount of slots to MBA and White Weenies. Aggro players seem to look for RDW unless you really steer them towards another direction.
Also... question for [Kitchen Table Finks]: I'm starting to get into Modern, and... I really want to cast Myr Superion. Ideally on turn 1 or 2. Really Ideally off Burning-Tree Emissary. It's a pretty silly idea, but I'm staring at my Myr Superions and really wanting to play them. If you were going to play the card in modern, what might you do?

I'll be sad if people don't start calling The Chain Veil "Fleetwood Mac."
Yeah, I was considering BTE, Simian Spirit Guide, and Chancellor of the Tangle. (Another favorite card of mine that I feel like should see play in modern. Sure, it's a lot worse than lotus petal... but lotus petal is a pretty darn good card!)

No srs, welcome, you'll enjoy it here (we were in a lull though) (am I using Lull correctly? It's a magic card with a fog effect, I assume it means slow down or something...)
Well I have been kicking around an idea for a clan contest that we could try. I want to try a slightly different variation of CDCC. The main problem with CDCC is that we don't get enough participants. So instead of having one person choose the card for each round and not participate, one person will choose the card for the first round and everyone will make a deck. Then whoever wins the first round chooses the card for the second round and so on until we do 5 rounds. Should we give it a try?
Ok I'll choose the card for the first round. For anyone new to CDCC, you build a deck around the chosen card and try to make it as effective and interesting as possible. There will be one week for each person to post their deck, then a poll will be put up for everyone to vote on the best deck.
You can probably guess my 3 favorite creatures from my signature. I've seen other people make decks with two out of the three cards, but I've never seen anyone else make a deck with Hand of Justice. So the card for the first round will be Hand of Justice.
You will have until 9pm est on 4/28/14 to enter your deck.
Edit: In the event that the person who chose the card wins the round, we might let the person that came in 2nd place choose the card for the next round so that it is a different person every round.

He goes "Ok, so?"
I had switched Black Vise for The Rack.
He was like "You'll eventually deck out, cause you drew way more than me, and have no way of killing me."
He had no lands, no permanents, and a full grip of cards. And like 10 cards in his library more than me.

If so, are you in a clan there? I'm having trouble finding a clan and I figured, why not inquire w/in a clan I am already in.
In my Zedruu deck, I have the usual suspects to give to my opponent like Illusions of Grandeur and Steel Golem, but my favorites ones to give away are Cinder Giant and Primordial Ooze.
