MTG Salvation

Saw the third Hobbit movie today. Was as good as can be expected. There were some plot holes that I felt needed filling, but oh well... I'm sure if I ever read the book, it'd cover it...

I still haven't caught the second one, I ought to look into that when I go to the library.

That reminds me, I've yet to finish up a book so I move on to 'The Prince of Frogtown', because that is how biographies should be named.

Get box. Open box. There is another one! Unwrap tha one and open the box. There is more to unwrap! (This person would fit in well with my family) Unwrap further. Bubble wrap! My favorite!

I'm pretty sure everyone who received already pretty much knew who their Secret Santa was, but in case you were all wondering who had who in a cohesive list, there you go.

On another note, I talked to Bur, and his clan (EDH) is doing a Secret Santa as well, so I invited them to join ours next year so it doesn't feel as small. If there are any objections, please let me know. Hopefully next year, I won't be too busy running my business that I won't have time to do this as it is always very fun to exchange presents with you all. If my business does well enough, maybe I'll start mailing out dual lands.

I drew a picture of fruit and it turned into a little critter! Crayons, y'all. Crayons.

PG: Thanks for organizing, as always. I say the more the merrier! I will need to modify my wish list now.

Pat: Would that be a fritter that you drew?

Hm... is anyone else making paper snowflakes?

I made a couple paper snowflakes yesterday.

Paper snowflakes are awesome and more people should make them.


(I typically make 6-fold-symmetric ones, and the folding into 3 is the hardest part. I don't do any of the 5-fold or 7-fold ones.)


PG said that he makes less than zero of these... so does that mean he wants some of us to make them for him, or is someone already doing that?

Laser: That's the kind I make too. I have a book that has some fancier designs, but it requires a copier and a lot of time.

@Kank: Like an advent calendar? Sounds interesting, although not really reusable.

@Abby: You're making costumes? You're definitely overtaking DQ at this rate...

@snowflakes: There's usually a "make-a-snowflake" station set up in the break room at work so there's a good chance I'll be dabbling in that.

@Kank's paper chain: I remember making those in school when I was a wee lad. It was neat and all, but I think I threw it in a corner or something and forgot to remove the rest of the links.

And I'd like to say I thoroughly enjoyed this year's Secret Santa exchange as always. Looking forward to next year, and hopefully I put aside enough time to actually sculpt something.

@Grey: So did you draw a picture of Cirno onto the deckbox or did you print and paste or something else altogether? Also, 'deckbox' can be a variety of sizes... How big was it?

@Abby: Neat goggles. Glad you like them.

@Lazysharpy: I think DQ may or may not have gone MIA permanently. If he does show back up, it'll be after he gets a new machine. He may have forgotten about us entirely by then tho...

We have not seen DQ since September... so we probably won't get any glimpse of those amazing* gymnastics abilities.

*In comparison with those of the average MTGS user... OK, well, I'm not actually sure how accurate that is.

@Yomako's deck box: I drew a Cirno add well as other illustrations onto an Ultra Pro deck box. It's larger enough for a sleeved 60 card deck plus sideboard. I snapped some pics of it before mailing it which I can pay later. I also stuffed some Khans boosters in there.

I also sent Yomako some custom artwork. Tho I'm sure yours is better than mine cuz I just drew a pikachu on a Plains... I wonder when it'll get there...

Doing Secret Santa with my family makes things simple. I only need to get for one person and my niece... Then again, I guess I am the Secret Santa master since I run the family Secret Santa, work's Secret Santa and the Crafter's Secret Santa... So for each Secret Santa, I get one gift. It's still simpler than getting everyone something. Then again, I do get everyone that participates in our Secret Santa here something, so eh? Then again the presents I give are usually accumulations of whatevers during the course of the year. Grey and Pat each got an opened booster pack, Abby got Pheldagriffs (that I picked up during the year), Iso was my Secret Santa giftee and he got all the slivers I could muster in a day, and Yomako got a custom pikachu plains that I made extra while doing alters for the MTGS altered art exchange...

I'm not ready for Christmas either... still not sure what I'm gonna get yet.




I'm not sure if DQ's absence and his stained-glass-breaking are correlated (supposed machine troubles and all that)...


And... I should prepare some recordings and altered cards ahead of time for next year. Maybe.

It's not required that you make something as your gift. It's something that's required to be on your wishlist though in case someone wants to craft your present instead of spending money on boosters or other monetary things. For example, my wishlist this year consists of:

This year's Secret Santa exchange consisted of the following gifts:

A pile of Slivers
Steampunk Goggles
A knit shark and knit Lord Grey Voodoo doll
A pile of Khans Booster packs
A deck box with custom art and a pile of Khans booster packs
A pile of foil Magic cards (highlights were Tezz 1.0 and Teysa, Envoy of Ghosts)

So only 2 people opted to craft something. Everyone else procured something off their giftee's list or some combination thereof.
