Need to watch the entirety of Inuyasha for my cosplay (finally ecided to pick that as my costume, going to order it friday). This means watching around 200 episodes and 4/5 movies. Hours of fun. Hope I won't get sick. But before that, need to try Onigiri (japanese game finally released in NA). Seem slike a fun game.

Casual crazy magic player, otaku maniac, unrully cosplayer, what did you expect me to be?
Almost finished up with my picks for the season. Thinking about giving some reviews after I'm done. Really not looking forward to next season after how great this season was.
Yeah, spring was outstanding for the overall quality of shows. Almost everything was watchable. July looks pretty slow, so it may be a good time to watch older stuff or something.
Time to start reviews on some of the seasonals I watched. Will be editing in as I go because horrible accidents. The first few will be anime I watched as a small competition between a friend and I in which we each pick three anime as our candidates for anime of the season. Give your opinions as well please, more input is welcome. It's difficult to account for taste in a 1-1 discussion occasionally.
No Game No Life-
I've been impressed with Madhouse time and time again. The anime they make turns out beautifully, and they have a good eye for quality as well in my opinion. No Game No Life is about Blank, an online entity who tops the leaderboards of every game in existence. In reality their names are Sora and Shiro, two NEET siblings who have live, breathe, and eat games. After being challenged by a mysterious stranger to Chess, they are transported to Disboard, a land where games are law. They have been invited by the God Tet to play in his ideal world.
Now that we've gotten through the minor summary, I'll give my thoughts. The concept is very captivating to people who sit at home playing games all day, but the concept isn't where the series gains it's strengths. Disboard is beautiful to look at, the characters stand out from the background and have real identities tied in to how they are presented, and the scale of the world is very present in many games and scenes. The dialogue is well done, and it does a good job lightening the mood often, so that the cool or serious moments stand out far more. The goofy side of NGNL does a lot to allow it's impressive wrap up scenes and turn arounds to play out. The story itself isn't difficult to understand, and the games themselves are very impressive. Reality Shiritori did a great job of impressing the epic consequences games can have on the viewers before the show was brought back down to earth. No Game No Life however promises a lot, and I don't think 12 episodes really did any favors to the series. And with no mention of a 2nd season on the horizon, those things go unanswered for now. It also can get a bit silly for being silly's sake at times, and one of the characters acting as a running gag may be a disservice. This is my pick for anime of the season, but it didn't go without a hitch.
4.5/5
The Irregular at Magic High School
Tatsuya Shiba is a normal high school student. Or so he would have others believe. When he and his sister qualify for the prestigious First Magic High School, he merely wants to live a normal, magical life. However it appears many things will make this difficult on Tatsuya, terrorists, plots of powerful clans, and the student council all conspire to interrupt his peaceful daily life.
Another Madhouse anime, and man does this thing look gorgeous. I mean really gorgeous. The characters are a little less inspired in appearance than our previous entry, but the effects on the magic are impressive, and First High does a good job of being impressive while still being a high school. The concept is a simple one, boy goes to high school, boy tries to protect his secrets. The main character is interesting, in that he is not a character. He is a plot device with powers stapled to him. I suppose he's a bit more than that, but the phrase "Gary Stu" gets thrown around quite a bit. Still, it's not a bad thing. The show itself entertains well. The plots are interesting, our main character makes a decent Batman impression when he's not busy beating people up easily, and the show is entertaining. The sound track in this one goes a long way to keeping you engaged. It's fairly long winded, although from what I can tell less so than the novels, so it may be a fault of the author. It's not really much new in terms of anime, but it's got polish, and that makes it worth watching.
4.0/5
One Week Friends
Yuki Hase wants to get closer to a girl in his class. Kaori Fujimiya is always alone, and rarely smiles. After approaching Kaori, she tells Hase that she loses memories of her friends every week. After seeing on Monday that she really has forgotten him, Hase resolves to ask her to be his friend every week, as long as it takes.
The concept is really sappy, I'll admit, but the execution really hits it home. Brains Base does a great job with the scenery, and the fading edges really make the whole thing seem a bit dreamy, like one of Kaori's fuzzy memories. But the memories of a high schooler really are gorgeous. The color palette is soft, and does a good job relaxing the viewers. Everything is done lightly, expertly, with not one effort on the part of the animators wasted. And does it show. The soundtrack is also great at setting the mood, and really hit the occasional sad moments home. The opening and ending are fantastic, and the dialogue really builds characters that you get attached to. Everything in this anime is extremely cutesy, but it can affect anyone. The every day friend things Hase and Fujimiya undertake really warm your heart, simple as they may be. While NGNL was the most exciting anime of the season, this was the closest to perfect in my eyes. Brains Base has produced another masterpiece, and I recommend it to anyone with an enthusiastic
5/5
I suppose that's all for now. Should continue to update tomorrow.
I decided to start watching some animies of the Summer Season. I started by watching the first episode of Sabagebu!. What the hell is wrong whit those girls!?! Then I watched the first episode of Rail Wars. So far, it's interesting. They skipped the long study part to go directly in the main plot, so this is a good thing. And finally, SAO2. The thrill of the anime is there. This will be the successor of the first season.

Casual crazy magic player, otaku maniac, unrully cosplayer, what did you expect me to be?
Good luck on your costume. You are going as who? As for me, might have to fill in a complain to the shop I purchased my wig at. The shop may be online, but they still have to follow their customers wishes. Twice I ordered from them, twice I asked UPS (which they offer, even if they are based in China), twice they use DHL (which is actually crappy and charges you the shipping you already paid as well as use the wrong shipping materials). I'm already asking a refund of the shipping and that they upgrade it to express, hope they comply cause I'm pretty sure it's easy to ask Paypal help on this matter.

Casual crazy magic player, otaku maniac, unrully cosplayer, what did you expect me to be?
So, I've been quite busy the the past few year, with uni, moving out on my own and a few other things. However, my studying activities are now in a rut (in my masters, trying to write about my research, but I just have tremendous difficulties with it) and I'm forcing myself to take more time off. I remembered the good times I had and decided to check out the clan threads. Imagine my surprise when I found that the MTGS brigade is alive once more!
So, I haven't seen too many anime the last few years, but I've done a few. Here's a list of them:
Haibane Renmei. Rewatched it, still love it, probably in my top 3 of best anime series ever.
Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou. Incredibly funny slice of life series. I loved every minute of this.
Ghost in the Shell. I'm slowly going through this with a friend. I really like it, but it is a bit too 90's from time to time, with the huge mullets and so on. Also: I sometimes have a hard time following the plot. I don't know whether this is due to bad subs or that they just do not explain enough.
Kore wa Zombie desu ka. I really liked the humor in the first season, wasn't too impressed with the second season.
Spandy Dandy: I loved this and watched all of it. I liked the humour, loved the few more serious episodes as well.
Sword Art Online: liked the first few episodes, where it was still about the MMO and was just about Kirito collecting a harem of friendzoned girls. Found it to become less fun the more they went into the second part of the series, season 2 was just stupid.
Log Horizon: Played out like a better version of SAO, but I disliked the last few episodes. I'm hoping this'll get a decent season 2.
Kill la Kill: watched it, but found it somewhat unimpressive, apart from some funny moments. Thought the side characters highly annoying.
Previous Winter season:
Watched a few episodes of Nobunaga the Fool. Thought he was too much of a prick, stopped watching it.
Spring:
Captain Earth: I watched a few episodes of this. Became a bit angry about the stupid triple space station setup. Wasn't too impressed, stopped watching a few episodes in.
No Game No Life: found this show entertaining. Still have to watch the last episode of it.
Summer:
SAO2: may give this a chance.
Space Dandy 2: Definitively on my to watch list.

So youre going as some kind of demonic hypster guy? Never saw The World Ends with You, so I'm only basing myself on images I found on google.
I'm finally back! ... after working pretty much 24/7 with planning, preparing and improvising (one from our group fell sick) at the con, I'm tired both mentally and physically. It was okay, but next time, I'll be going there just as a visitor, not as a worker...
Oh, and not exactly demonic hipster guy. Just a smug big bad with weird fashion sense.

I'm going at the Otakuthon as Inuyasha. It's too early for me to fabricate the whole costume (and a little bit too late, since it's at the end of august, still, if the online sjhop didn't follow my order, I might have to make it myself too), so I'm currently working on Tetsaiga, both versions. The true form of Tetsaiga is a whoping 55 inch long, which is a head smaller than me. This must mean Inuyasha is about as tall as me.
Edit: Received my costume, my wig and my white ears headband (try the PawStar ebay shop, they have a good selection of all age fur accessories). I now need to fix up the wig for the costume, make the swords and wait for the beads of subjugation (again, ebay). Might upload pictures this weekend.
Edit 2: This is a good advice for everyone who want to try cosplaying by purchasing a costume. Don't visit Hello Cosplay. I opened a dispute with them trought Paypal due to their policies. yes, the costumes seems well made, yes, some costumes are well made, yes, many custommers were not satisfied by Hello Cosplay. Now, to resume, I'm going to ask if anyone knows of any good cosplay e-shops for my next cosplays. I don't want to purchase from Hello Cosplay anymore after what they pulled (wrong shipping carrier, false representation, moral damage done to a familly member, extra costs because of them). So anyone knows of any good cosplay shops? I might need to purchase props for future cosplays.
You will love the new SAO season. Death during the game is back in that season, altought being massivelly different from SAO season 1. You will see when the time come.
We'll see. I watched the first episode, but there wasn't really any MMO in it yet. I'll give the series 2 more episodes to suck me in.

You jump into the MMO in ep2 (sorry, have to shpryen cause I'm on my phone), but the action really starts around ep3-4 with Kirito doing the impossible after transgering into GGO and being mistaken for a girl. If you can hang on until ep5, you ill find this anime more breathtakung than the previous onr.

Cool. I'll give it a shot.
Watched an episode of Lucky Star with a friend lately. I'd been advised to watch this once, since, I was told, it is one of the best shows ever. So we watched episode one, and I smirked, not laughed, smirked, once. I thought it was one of the most boring things that I've ever seen. I really like slice of life comedy as a genre, but there has to be some comedy in there. The comedic pacing was off, the artwork was horrible and it was just one inane conversation after another. Not something I'd recommend at all, especially since there are so many better shows in this genre.

I never finished watching episode 1 of Lycky Star. Reason was that I got bored.
Edit: I also decided today to escalate my paypal dispute with Hello Cosplay to a paypal claim, since they are failing in communicating on it and only try to push everything that went bad on the back of DHL, which was not the delivery service I purchased as my shipping carrier (chose UPS and they denied me the right to decide for an alternative, they didn,t even send me an e-mail to ask me my opinion on if I wanted to change shipping carier, I call fraud).
Summer seems to be much, much better than Spring so far, and Spring had lots of good shows. However, most of them were just "okay", while Summer already has such high-profile shows as Akame ga Kill, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun, Barakamon and Zankyou no Terror. Hell, I still haven't picked up all the shows I want to watch (though to be honest, I'm getting used to that).
Speaking of Spring, has anyone watched Selector Infected Wixoss? I honestly didn't expect to enjoy a drama about girls playing TCGs this much, but now I'm glad they got a second season in the making. I also bought two starter decks to check out the game itself, and it has a lot of excellent ideas beyond simply combining Duel Masters/Kaijudo and Cardfight Vanguard. For instance, other than the usual randomized deck with black backs, you have a much smaller deck with white backs - and you can use any card in it whenever you want, as if it was your second hand. Guess I was mainly right about the when Kirito would jump into GGO. Pretty sure everyone will love his stunt in episode 4. Kirito, the only swordman in a world of guns.
