So, yes, we've all had our eye on the rules changes, and I think it's become a pretty controversial topic to everyone that their beloved game is getting a couple of facelifts here and there.
That said, under the M10 rules, what pre-M10 cards get better? Similarly, what card gets worse with the new rules on say, the stack-less combat damage? The Lifelink rule?
Sacrificing(Mogg fanatic, Sakura Tribe Elder) and bouncing got worse because of the new damage rule.
Mass damage spells like Pyroclasm also got worse because you cant assign combat damage freely anymore. "I deal two damage to each of your 1/4's with my 4/5 and then pyro for the blowout" won't be possible anymore.
I know Death and Taxes just got hosed pretty badly.
But still, I'm pretty pissed off they got rid of combat damage using the stack. I don't see a point in dumbing down the game just for the sake of flavor. Yeeeeeech.
Honestly it is much more logical that a creature no longer in play can't still deal damage to its target. Also, creatures with a sac ability are not entirely nerfed. They can still be declare as blockers (so you won't take the attack damage) and then be sacrificed to get their effect. Yes it sucks for aggro but it makes the game so much more intuitive rather than abusing timing triggers. Also, I think there are a way too many cards that are affected by this that it will take a little time before people learn to break the new combat rules.

"You are what you pretend to be, so you must be careful what you pretend to be" from Mother Night
well Mogg Fanatic does still kill birds of paradise and figure of destiny on the plus side, but Nantuko Husk isnt as gamebreaking of a play in aggro as people had said.

I'm dying of cruel laughter right now because the article on the front page just had to be about D+T today as you said that.
People mentioned Wake Thrasher and Pule of the Field got better, anyone know why?
By the way, ANT got nerfed since you can't float mana from LED into draw step.
Mana Drain, on the other hand, got a massive boost. It is now strictly better than Counterspell.
Well, the Pulse didn't get better, it just got fixed...no longer can you intentionally manaburn yourself to take advantage of it. For Wake Thrasher, I'm assuming it's also because of no more mana burn, so at the end of the opponent's turn, you can just tap all of your lands to pump him up big at the beginning of your turn.
I think combat tricks in general got worse, but until I really play with the new rules at the Prerelease, I won't really have a good idea about how it will play out
Umezawa's Jitte got better (heaven help us). You can no longer jump in front of the jitte attacker, put damage on the stack, get rid of your blocker (putting no counters on Jitte) and dealing damage to the attacker.

Jitte also gets hurt a bit when used in conjunction with first strikers. Counters you gain from first strike damage can't be used before normal combat damage is dealt (assuming I'm reading the new rules correctly, which is entirely possible I'm not).
I declare Wall of Reverence as my first blocker and Kamahl, Pit Fighter as my second blocker. In the new rules, you have to assigne lethal damage to my first Wall before assigning any to my Kamahl, wich means your thoctar dies and both my creatures live on.

It is always easy to be tolerant and understanding...Until someone presents an opinion completely opposite to your own.

I thought the attacker ordered the blockers.......
I used to run Glittering Wish in some of my EDH decks. It was handy for reducing my general's death tax and yanking RFG'ed cards. Not a big loss, though.
this morning a bit with my sac and blink EDH decks... Wasn't a huge deal there really. Some choices were not as obvious as before, which I think is good. I'll be using Graceful Reprieve more often.
All of the hundreds of creatures with trample suddenly got a lot better. You will now never have to waste a single point of damage assigned to a creature that won't be in play when damage resolves. Consider the example of Ball Lightning versus a blocking Bottle Gnomes. Under the old rules, it's just a straight 1-for-1 trade with no change in life total for the defending player. Under the new combat rules, the aggro player just picked up an extra 3 points of damage, which is quite valuable indeed.
Yes, trample got better as a direct result of sac/blink/bounce effects getting worse, but like I always say, power doesn't exist in a vacuum. If something gets weaker, something else will get stronger to take its place. And right now, I'd say trample is getting some sweet rewards from these rules changes.
(Actually, I'd say that all creatures without sac/blink/bounce abilities just got a little better simply because they won't have to deal with opposing creatures that could abuse those abilities to stack damage. But trample is by far the clear winner here.)
I had a deck that used some spells that could untap lands along with Eye of the Storm and Cunning Wish to spin up an arbitrarily large storm count for Brain Freeze. Aside from going infinite, Cunning Wish made the deck more consistent when it went off since I'd be more able to reuse spells out from under Eye of the Storm to trigger it all over again. Now, Wish spells can't ping things that have been Exiled, and thus the deck no longer works.
So yeah... Wish spells most definitely got worse

On the other hand though, Braid of Fire is pretty nuts now.

Draft it on Cubetutor!

Black Market and Altar of Shadows will be super good in EDH.
Like I said, not as much as I expected.
Under the old rules, if a combat situation existed where a player could gain card advantage, one would avoid that situation.
Instant, non-permanent sac effects are scarce anyway. So now instead of using Momentary Blink to surprise someone, you might run Graceful Reprieve.
Play is less repetitive with those decks. No more Erratic Portal every combat. This is good.
But I'm not a pro either.
