Needing some help with a G/W Hydra deck for casual multiplayer play. Main focus is to 8 post it up and make huge trampling hydras. It's multiplayer and in my group they like to run indestructible artifacts and annoying enchantments so the white splash is for removal and and lifelink. Lifelink is almost a necessity in 3-4 player games.
I almost went G/R for Apocalypse Hydra and stuff like Banefire which go well with the posts.
Stuff I've also considered were Phytohydra but the mana base doesnt really support it. Also a lot of utility spells that I've considered like Krosan Grip but doesn't deal with indestructible which runs rampant. Also the 1 Praetor's Counsel is for wraths. Not sure if it is the best choice.
Well here is what I'm starting with. Could really use some suggestions! Thanks!
If you're playing an 8-Post deck that needs lifegain, shouldn't you add in Glimmerposts as well? You can always turn to Selesnya Signet or Fellwar Stone if you're worried about producing colored mana after all.
Yeah, I really wanted to run them, but was concerned about getting colors and also what to take out. I guess I could take out the 2 Plains and 2 Forests for them. I still need to test.
M'kay, I really enjoy a fun timin' weird tribal deck, so I'm gonna take a crack at it.
First off, it's true that running Glimmerpost will make your white mana harder to get. Thing is, you're basically only running white because you want the lifegain; Glimmerpost fits your Post strategy as well as gaining life, so it essentially removals any necessity for the color to be there. If you really want to run white despite that, I suggest simply running 0 plains and adding in cards like Sunpetal Grove and maybe Wooded Bastion. However, if I were going to splash anything in this deck, it'd be red. Apocalypse Hydra is pretty good, it gives you great sweeper options like Slagstorm (which is unlikely to kill your big hydras), and it lets you run Kessig Wolf Run, which is just nuts with Posts. But I digress, since I would tend against a splash anyway.
If I were removing white, I'd do this:
-4 Wooded Bastion
-4 Razorverge Thicket
-2 Plains
+4 Glimmerpost
+6 Forest
-2 Expedition Map
-2 Spirit Loop
-2 Swords to Plowshares
-2 Return to Dust
-1 Sylvan Scrying
+2 Feral Hydra (the only one you can add to after casting. This actually makes him amazing)
+1 Primeval Titan
+3 Cultivate (you need less land selection, more ramp)
+3 Explore
This basically removes white for consistency and speed. You don't have removal, but you were only running the 2 StP anyway, which isn't going to be consistently helpful. Wrath of God/Day of Judgement are still going to be a pain in the ass, but don't overextend and enjoy the fact that having a million mana after a board wipe makes a single hydra a huge threat. Garruk also offers nice recovery in this situation.

I like your ideas a lot pope. If I go mono green ill definitely consider your suggestions. I guess I could go that route and go for krosan grips. My friends run pain in the butt stuff like story circle and tinker for darksteel stuff, which green cant deal with. But I'll definately try.
Dang thanks Tich!! I didn't know those cards existed! I guess I just may go mono green! Thanks darknight. I know about those and might run them instead of the other stuff if I go mono green.

Deglamer? Splinter? Green can handle turn 3 DSCs fairly easily.
