So my commander is a sliver that produces sliver tokens... She also happens to be a 7/7 for 5 mana that makes dudes that I can use in conjunction with other cards.
I started off with a legend deck theme, using captain sisay and reki to drive the theme home. However I noticed that after adding in the ramp, I was reluctant to cast a 3 mana 1/2 and really just wanted to cast more Maelstrom wanderer's. Did some more testing and decided to cut the cute legend theme and reinforce the "Well, that creature is going to kill them" vibe. I really wanted to make sure that enough of the cards refilled my hand and let me take advantage of my quick drop of spells.
