I need to complain about the new site. I loved the old page (and spent probably more time on it than it is good for me). But the new version is highly annoying!!! The commercial adverdisments open themselfs. When I'm browsing through the forums, suddenly the app store starts on my ipad and the download page for a mmorpg or a dating tool opens up (and this with a rather high frequency). It reached a point where I'm thinking about quitting using these boards. I hope there is a way to stop that mechanisem, because I cannot accept a page that manipulates my device. I'm ok with ads left and right and top and bottom of the page, but not the active opening of things on my ipad!!! Please consider changing that.

I agree.
It's the same on android devices. I even got a warning pop-up from Chrome if I wanted to keep a certain file that has been downloaded.
I've always been extremely tolerant of advertising (I use IE without filters for general browsing, MTGS included) but with the onslaught I'm seriously considering running an adblock, because this is extremely annoying. I really like this website and I'm happy that the owners have new financing options with the Curse partnership, but enough is enough.
That sounds like a glitch more the "current ad strategy." I'll see if I can get someone to look at things.
In the meantime, if you can get screen shots of the ads that may help the tech identify the problem.

Curse reps have spoken out with support for users using ad blocking software on this site.
The 'Candy Crush' problem is well known and has been documented as far back as March of last year (just weeks after the Curse acquisition of MTGS was announced and migration to their servers took place, coincidence?), this appears to be the exact same thing with a different redirect.
Poppelseed suggested a bunch of fixes that didn't work and then abandoned thread back before the move. It's obvious that nothing was done, and the only answers to come from staff for the last year have been: 'I'll forward it to the techs', 'please provide a screenshot', 'It's not our ads, it's you', and 'use adblock'(which is the only real answer).
It costs them less money for one person to install and run adblock when they finally get fed up with the nonsense ads they are serving up, than it does for them to be proactive and prevent these kinds of malicious ads from being served.
Most of this tracking is really just ad being served ...
Honestly for now if you're super concerned about it, yeah my advice would be to noscript/block it, I don't really want anyone to feel uncomfortable visiting the website.
The redirects are due to maleware on the users end. There is nothing that can be done on this end to prevent it. It is not the ads doing it, but maleware on the user end using the ads to redirect. http://malwarefixes.com/remove-adtrack-king-com-redirect/
What's funny about this post is that it's totally wrong a lie and users encountering the same problem have reported the link that was posted as ineffective.
p.s. I'm glad the admin's get away with having names like 'molester'. Because, y'know, community and all that.
p.p.s "maleware"
Have you tried disabling javascript in your browser?
How is that a solution?
It would be like; one day, a bar I like to visit is infested with bees. Instead of getting rid of the bees, management has issued a statement that anyone that doesn't like it can wear a beekeeper suit. I can't wear the bee suit all the time, because almost every other business I frequent requires you to not be dressed like an idiot. So whenever I want to go to this bar I have to either deal with potentially getting stung, or take the time to put on a bee suit. Even if I want to run in real quick and say hi, I run the risk of being stung.
Isn't the solution to get rid of the bees, even if your exciting bee circus webcam generates $0.0003 per visitor?
Rezombied - I'll be taking the Candy Crush issue to our Curse overlords this evening. The JavaScript thing is a temp fix; hopefully we can get this resolved quickly.
In the mean time, any relevant information you can give me would be great.

How can you honestly say that this is a glitch when this issue has been going on UNCHECKED AND UNDEALT WITH, BARELY EVEN RECOGNIZED BY STAFF FOR ALMOST A YEAR
Oh, but I'm sure you'll pass it along to Curse, just like pops did.
I find it ridiculous that the best advice given on this issue so far has been "Install adblock" and the person to suggest it was feyd.
Oh, but I'm sure you'll pass it along to Curse, just like pops did.
Who will promptly proceed to not do anything on the information, because it is in their best interests not to. See, the average user that browses the curse network is an 11 year old boy discovering his sexuality through World of Warcraft model viewer. This is not exactly a premium demographic for advertizers, or a demographic that understands anything about computers, so Curse more or less has to take any ads that are willing to run on the site. Including, but not limited to, Candy Derp Saga.
Fixing this would be, well, not too hard. It would be trivial for anyone that has a degree in anything related to computers, but I'm just assuming Curse's end doesn't have anyone with those qualifications. Problem is that it's better for Curse to keep the intrusive adverts running, in hopes that they increase the click rate. Potentially to the point that they'd demote any member of the staff that would "fix" it, assuming that anyone here has high enough level of access to do so.
In other words, install adblock and noScript.

The problem is not getting these ads on your home pc. It's getting them on your mobile device. There is not much you can do about it there.

Our demographic is much older than 11 and we are a community of people willing to spend stupid amounts of money on trading cards. Your assertion here goes against pretty much everything that I know to be true about MTGS.

Again, this isn't how things work. You have an obnoxious site that your core group of users doesn't want to go to and you lose your core group of users. It's in their best interest to keep people coming here.
You can dislike something all you want and voice that opinion, but when that opinion is based on conjecture and what looks like a bit of paranoia/conspiracy theory, I feel compelled to point that out.

One of the higher up's at Curse commented on the thread about tracking scripts and basically said people who find it to be a problem should use adblock and ghostery.

Yes, except the part where you're still part of the Curse network. MTGS certainly increases the average quality of sites in that, but it's not enough to bring it to tolerable-tier. The adverts on all Curse sites are the same, because it's better to negotiate with leverage.
You think it's a coincidence that the estimated value of MTGS as a site tanked hard when there was a leak about selling it to Curse.
Again, this isn't how things work. You have an obnoxious site that your core group of users doesn't want to go to and you lose your core group of users. It's in their best interest to keep people coming here.
Oh, please. There have been a few, maybe 10 posters that might quit coming to MTGS because of the ads. People are annoyed, sure. That doesn't matter. They'll keep coming and complaining, and might install adblock. In the grand scheme of things, the difference is minimal. It's even more minimal when you consider that MTGS isn't that huge of a site outside of rumor season, and during that it has practically had monopoly for a while.
It's similar to the F2P P2W model in games these days. There's outrage about it, and people think it killed games such as Battlefield Heroes. When that happened multiple sites talked about how it would destroy the playerbase and blah blah blah. That didn't happen, their profits soared through the roof, and the playerbase was nearly identical in size. Customers that do not pay, or in this case, click ads are practically not customers. If the ad is annoying enough, more people will click it on accident, causing better revenues. The amount of revenue generated by views for the adverts is ridiculously low compared to clicks.
And sure, Curse would love to sell life insurances and banking services on that adspace. I'm sure there's some Curse executive that <snip> his way to sleep every night thinking of the profits that could be gained that way. It just happens that those services do not want to advertize here. Selling pornography or "X singles want to meet you" is probably out of question due to the age content of the site, too. It probably doesn't help a bunch that Google has significant investments in Curse's competitive networks, not one bit.
Oh, and Curse sells this thing called, what was it.. "Curse Premium". A service that stops ads from running on you. Funny how that works out.

Of course, if you want to claim that Curse is, indeed, willing to fix this but not able.. Well, send a message upwards to hire site techs that are competent. Getting an intern from any university that teaches Computer Science of Information Systems Science should also work, and is the free option.

Look at the poll results. This affects all users, and feedback is clear. It's just not acceptable.
I'm not singling anyone out. I'm thankful for the volunteers who give their time here. But this isn't right.
Poll results are also based on 10 votes. Not nearly representative of the forums as a whole.
Side note: sorry if I wasn't able to answer ad reports as effectively as you (rezombied) had hoped. I was relaying messages to the curse techs as needed and answering where I could. And then my girlfriend had our kid. Hence my recent lowered activity. Oh, and there's the fact that I have no back door access to anything ad related. But BlackVise answered that previously
