What's up guys? Name's Salty. I started playing MTG around the time BNG came out. I played a lil bit of Standard, where as a new player, always got my ass handed to me. I'm in NYC, so everyone is busy and they don't have time to make a deck, so they just buy whatever control deck is winning and play it. I was new and all, so I didn't know how to counter their stuff. Played some limited, but quickly figured out sometimes it's just your lucky day, or you've wasted 12-15 bucks. So I'm looking to invest in a modern deck. I'm a HS student so budget would be awesome! I'm not looking for anything T1, but something that I can play on Wednesdays at my (far) LGS. Anyways, nice to meet ya!
Standard can be sort of rough. The cards constantly move around and the deck of the week changes constantly. My opinion of standard is that the best thing to do is to figure out what type of deck you like playing and just go with a single deck and stick it out regardless of what the flavor of the week is.
As for cheap modern decks, I would suggest looking at some of the T2 decks as a lot of the mainstream stuff is really expensive. Elves is one you might look into because if you don't go all out on the landbase you can actually buy the deck itself for under $100. There are a lot of budget friendly modern decks but I would stay away from the established T1 decks to find affordable options.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
