This thread is for the discussion of Son of Makuta's latest article, A Complete Introduction to Deckbuilding, Part Two. Due to technical issues the thread that is normally created when an article is published didn't occur, so I have created this thread to allow you to talk about it. As always, please keep your comments on topic.
I like the talk on synergy. Naturally, experienced players always take this into account, but novice players can be overwhelmed or miss it altogether. I recall the first time I built a deck around multiple synergies: it came in the Scars of Mirrodin block, after Rise of the Eldrazi (I joined Magic The Gathering around the end of Worldwake).

I based my deck on Mortician Beetle, equipping it with Blade of the Bloodchief. I then filled my deck with creatures like Death Cultists, Fume Spitters, Viscera Seers for sacrificing, as well as Geth’s Verdict to force my opponent to sacrifice creatures too. I threw in a playset of Spellskites to protect my beetle.
Put it this way, I was sold on the idea of synergies after that!
