Just received an order from SCG today. Someone put a staple right through the cards and toploader! I called up their customer service, and apparently they're going with some new mailing service. Anyway, the guy I talked to said they normally wouldn't do anything about this, but decided to resend me the same cards in a different package anyway. So, the legendary SCG customer service comes through again!
I've attached the images of what happened. Maybe someone here can explain it.
Yet another flawless order from SCG. Once again I found myself in need of some older (mostly Rise of Eldrazi stuff), and once again not only did they have them in the quantities needed but the prices were as cheap or cheaper than elsewhere.
Only complaint I could come up with was that after adding another item as sort of an afterthought (a, while I was there I might as well grab this other thing too), the total came to over $100, so when going to pay it showed the shipping being much higher than expected, which after I noticed the total being over $100 I knew it was their tiered shipping method. Since the last thing added was the only reason it was above $100, I just took them off, grabbed what I needed and paid the lower shipping charge which was what I was there for in the first place. I understand the reasoning behind the higher shipping for added protection, but unfortunately it does cost you guys sales every now and then. Something to keep in mind for the future.

We are actually very close to retooling our tiers on shipping cost limits to be more customer friendly - should be done by the end of October at the latest!

Sounds good. Always loved how proactive you guys were with dealing with potential issues. Look forward to seeing the new setup when its released!

That's good to hear.
I do wish you had a cheaper insured/tracked shipping option. $50+ is quite a bit of money. I've placed 36 orders in the last 3 years. That number would be more like 80 orders if tracking was an option. I'm often buying foreign foils and stuff like that, but I really can't justify spending $50+ on shipping unless the order itself is something like $250+. I also can;t justify spending much more than $50 on an order that ISN'T tracked and insured. This leaves me with a $200 gap where I really feel I can't order from you, and the majority of my desired orders fall in that gap.
It sucks, because I'd MUCH rather deal with SCG than ebay or other stores. The customer service is SOOOO much better, prices (except on standard staples, but I don't care) tend to be better, but this issue is a hard stop for me.
Excited to see the new shipping structure.

The problem with shipping outside of the US, is that there are no "cheap" shipping methods with tracking and insurance outside of the US, which is what Paypal requires (proof of delivery), which most people use to pay for their online purchases these days. Thusly they are more or less stuck using something like USPS Express mail international with tracking/insurance to assure there isnt an issue, and that is at least $30 or so these days, last I checked (and thats just the flat rate envelope) :p. There is a reason why so many, on ebay, or otherwise, prefer not to ship internationally, its nothing against the international buyers, its due to the system in place, and the fact that orders are MUCH more likely to run into issues when shipped internationally vs shipped within the US, due to customs delays, issues with corrupt postal systems in some countries, and other various issues.
Placed an order a few months back for some random cards to finish a deck, all were supposed to be NM but a couple did look a little scuffed. Was a little upset after reading everything on here, should have probably just went with the SP versions. Other than that, everything else was great, arrived very quickly and was decked in less than a week.

Got my replacement cards! They came in a case this time so staples couldn't penetrate it. Thanks SCG
Hi SCG, quick question...do you write price of the order somewhere visible on the envelope?? I would like to buy some cards, but here in czech you have to pay extra money for foreign mails when the price is 15$+ (not sure if it is exactly 15).
thx
Please contact customer.service@starcitygames.com - they are the ones who could answer this question, and they don't check these boards!
I have ordered more than 20/30 times from SCG and I've never had any problems with grading. SCG has always been spot on regarding this. Recently I received a creased (line clearly visible from front to back) foil Weathered wayfarer. I ordered an SP and received a creased card (which is definitely worse than SP, more like MP/HP).
I contacted SCG directly and within a day, I got a reply from Corey Nunez offering either a small refund (about 40% of card value) or a replacement copy! I asked for the replacement copy and they sent it to me within a few days. I have received the replacement copy and it is indeed SP. Thank you SCG for the fantastic service and I am always impressed with the quality of this Store. Cheers!
They will most likely respond in the same way as they did to me.
"We can't under declare the value of an order." That's the reply I got when I asked them to declare no more than $20 in the comment section while ordering.
Understandable, but unfortunate for some of us because it means we must take our business elsewhere.
Basically anyone that does this, is committing postal fraud. Any packages mailed internationally must be filled out accurately in all ways, including the value of the package. Its the responsibility of each business to list this information accurately, just as its the responsibility of each citizen of the countries that have customs fees, to pay the import fees on these items when they come. If you choose to take your business elsewhere, then thats certainly up to you, but asking a business if they will commit fraud for you, it shouldnt be surprising that most people would rightfully so, say no.
Just something to keep in mind, and while I sympathize, thats simply the way it is.
If I were to sell bulk commons or uncommons, how should it be done? Should I inventory whats in the box or can it just be a random 1000 commons/uncommons?

If you want to sell Commons and Uncommons at a bulk-rate, no sorting is required. It can be any assortment of 1000 Commons and Uncommons. Here is a helpful excerpt from our Buylist:
Quote from StarCityGames.com Buylist »
* Bulk Magic Commons/Uncommons: $5.00 per 1,000 (through mail)
Please note the following rules for selling us bulk cards:
1. Prices for bulk Rares, Foils and Commons/Uncommons are for English versions of the cards. All BULK foreign foils/rares will be counted at half the above rates, rounded down. If there excessive amounts of MP cards, we will deduct depending on the percentage of MP cards present in your bulk.
2. Please pack your cards securely, using card/shoe boxes and arranging the cards in either rows or stacks that they don't shift in transit. All bulk cards should be arranged in the same direction (top-to-bottom and back-to-front)! Bulk cards not arranged in this manner will be purchased at 50% of our advertised price.
3. Offers containing excessive amounts of bulk from any one given set may be rejected. Please let us know ahead of time if you are selling excessive bulk cards from one given set (IE, you are a dealer who opened 100 boxes of Worldwake and want to sell your leftover Commons/Uncommons).

I recently placed an order and I had a problem with the paypal checkout page and closed it. I tried to come back but it wouldn't let me. The order shows up in my order history and just says "payment not received", but doesn't really give me an option to pay again. What do I do?

A thread popped up in magic general today, with a poster claiming that they placed an order with you for some Second Sunrises, and that after they rocketed up in price and you were sold out, that you cancelled their order and refunded their payment. They then claim that when they contacted you, all you did was to give them an additional $4 in store credit.
Ill be honest, given what I know of you guys, that doesnt seem like something you normally do. So I have to ask, did you guys cancel any orders placed online for Second Sunrise?
Figured I would bring it to your attention, and see if in fact there was an issue with second sunrise orders from you guys.

Hope that is helpful!

These tokens will never be for sale; they are for promotional purposes only! The only way to get them is to place an order with the website
