I've only bought from them once. a NM mana drain that got absolutely destroyed in the mail. they were really friendly and helpful and prompt. i returned the mana drain for a full refund and that was that.
I've done some business from them in the past a few times. Always they have done a very prompt delivery of the cards I ordered. I was very pleased with their service.
I wish my 4/4s with haste and first strike that acted as Goblin Warchiefs were better and didn't die to instants and overshadowed all other 4 drops in the format. And that they had evasion too, and some way to dodge wrath effects.
I have to say that I really don't like their shipping style/processes. I paid for USPS first class mail last Sunday and got a shipping notification on Monday. They said it would take 3-5 days, probably a little less since they're in Kentucky and I'm on the west coast. It's now Saturday, 6 days after the ship date. I don't really want to complain about one day, but the tracking number they sent me is not giving me any information other than "this order was processed March 22 in Lexington." I just wish they could keep me actually updated as to the whereabouts of my stuff. This is my second purchase. My first order was reasonably unsatisfactory, and I was hoping that this order would remedy that, but so far it's not looking so good.

First class mail usually takes 3-5 days to arrive. However the post office doesnt guarantee the ship times for a reason, because sometimes it can take longer. Basically the 3-5 days that the post office quotes is an estimate by them on how long it will take. As for the tracking information, that too is only handled by the post office. Not something that you should blame the company you are buying your cards from for. If you want to be irritated at anyone, be irritated at our postal system, which while it can be very efficient much of the time, is also known for having plenty of issues. Personally I always assume first class mail will take about a week, priority mail will take 3-4 days, and express mail will take about 2 days (they no longer guarantee next-day delivery with express mail). If your package doesnt arrive by monday I would check with the post office on it with the tracking number you were given, and they should be able to look it up to see if there is any other information that isnt listed on their site that they can see, but we cannot.
Just a suggestion and a few insights into the topic.
Ah. Got it. I think I'm just a bit sore at them from my last order, in which they way overcharged me for shipping and sent me beat up cards that had been declared as NM.

It seems like every store pretty much uses one of two definitions for "NM" - one is what I would actually call NM (close to, if not, pack fresh); the other is "anything where you can't see obvious signs of play at a quick glance," which to me could be as low as around EX-.
I only ever shopped at T&T once, but based on my experience and reports from others, I feel that they use the latter. Contrast to stores like MTG Fanatic, who tend to use the former. T&T does seem to have good prices (and shipping, in my experience), but I generally only give stores one chance. Once I feel like the condition of the cards I order is up for grabs, I'm very hesitant to use that store again.
In my book, for a card to really be NM, you need to be able to hold it up to the light (both sides) and not see any dirt or scuffing. It's not enough to just glance at it and say "Edges aren't white, looks like NM."

Thanks again Jeff. It's now Tuesday and it hasn't arrived, which I'm not too fussed about - I just wish they had updated the tracker thing more frequently (which I assume is the post office's business). It was updated last night saying it had been sorted about 350 miles south of me, which was the first update since "processed in Lexington, Kentucky." We'll see if what I ordered really does show up as NM.

Yup, thats on the post office. Unfortunately more and more lately, they have been providing less and less information (in between), thus causing more issues like this where people are wondering where on earth their cards are. (The general response from USPS about the lack of true tracking with Delivery Conformation? (That DC is just what it says it is .... conformation of delivery, and if you want full tracking, try using one of their other (and of course more expensive) services)). Thankfully most of the time the packages come through with a bit more information than you seem to have gotten, so at least its not completely useless as a tracking tool. With any luck (from the sounds of it) you should get it within a day or two at most :). If not then, as I mentioned before, just go down to your local post office and have them check to see whats taking so bloody long.
And, as always, Im happy to help. Ive been dealing with buying and selling cards online now for about a decade, and as always our postal system can be a bit wearing to deal with at times.
Still, I shouldn't complain. This is close to my 150th transaction with cards through USPS and only like the 5th time something's gone awry. That's pretty good, I think.

Not really. I mean, yeah, I guess compared to some things, having a 1 in 30 chance of getting screwed is fine, but considering the service they provide, and the cost, it shouldn't happen that often at all. I fully admit to being biased against the USPS because I have had so many bad experiences with them over the past 20 years (15 of those being online trading), although it's gotten better the last few years.
My philosophy is that Delivery Confirmation should not even be an option; we shouldn't have to pay extra to make sure something is actually delivered, especially when that isn't even a guarantee.
T&T used to use FedEx for sending orders like 10 years ago, or so I recall receiving stuff from them via FedEx; guess that isn't the case anymore.
Due to the rising transportation and shipping rate increases, we have discontinued our special '99 cards or less for 99 cents' international shipping promotion.
Hmm... This has been one of the main appeal of T&T to me for some time. Given that T&T's gradings are "iffy" (I have evidence of it and based on testimony on this thread), I suppose this is one less reason for me to be shopping with T&T. That said, it's been a good run, I suppose.

Same here. I've bought from troll and toad many times due to their cheap international shipping. Now that they've removed this shipping option I'm not sure I will keep buying from Troll and Toad anymore. They also seem to be raising their prices on foils which I used to buy on a regular basis. It's very disappointing that they had to remove this shipping option.

Yeah, noticed this as well...
T&T was my favority shop. Now there's no reason to use them over anyone else.
While I can understand people being dissapointed at the change. It should be noted that international shipping can be quite expensive, especially as the weight increases. Added to that is the risk of loss/damage and the lack of proper tracking for the cheap shipping option. If someone buys, say 99 commons/uncommons and spends $5 or something, and then chooses the cheap shipping option, the cost to ship the package is going to be likely more than what was paid for the cards and shipping combined. Thats just not a good way to do business. (If there is a minimum purchase to use that option then that would be something else, but Im not aware of that at this time.)
Anyhow, international shipping is only getting more expensive from the US. It is what it is unfortunately, and as with all cost increases, eventually the businesses have to pass on the costs to the customers.

Low shipping costs is just about the main reason why I patronize T&T (I believe the same can be said of my playgroup). This can be quite relevant since some products may be temporarily unavailable due to inventory issues. Low shipping fees allows users – such as me – to go ahead with purchases even if one or two items are missing since we can probably pick them up with negligible shipping fees when it becomes available in the near future. Just a few weeks ago, some of the "out-of-stock" cards that I was looking for was made available a few days after I had my current order shipped.
Take away the “low shipping” advantage and T&T becomes slightly less appealing as my “go to” store. Prices-wise, T&T are roughly as competitive as most other shops. Mind you, I have found T&T’s grading to be a little iffy at times.
That said, T&T seems to be a decent play to shop and (as mentioned previously) I do still get some stuff from them – albeit not as frequent as before and not solely from them.
I purchased 4 Razorverge Thickets from Troll and Toad last week and got shipped 4 (useless) Razorfield Threshers. I e-mailed them once, twice, THREE times and got no response. I promptly let them know that they lost my business. FYI y'all.
Because I posted this, a Troll and Toad representative messaged me on MTGS and offered to fix the situation. Sure enough, I got store credit for the items (Razorverge Thickets, not loltastic bad creatures).
I eventually forgave them, thinking they made a bad but honest mistake.
A while later (came in the mail today, 4/11/11) I ordered 3 M10 Drowned Catacomb and received 2 M10 Drowned Catacomb and 1 M11 Drowned Catacomb. That may not sound like a huge deal to some people, but when I order something I expect that I will get what I ordered, not a "close enough" replacement.
It just shows laziness or negligence on their part. TWICE in the span of a couple months I've had orders messed up. I just e-mailed them about this--I'm seeking a refund for the card, not store credit this time. I'll let you all know how it goes... Either way, I'm done with these jokers.
edit: update (4/13/11): got an e-mail saying that I can keep the M11 one as an apology and they're sending the M10 one, or if they don't have it, they'll refund me. so it looks like it's going to work out.
I purchased a medium sized order from them many weeks ago and it still hasn't arrived... have their shipping times changed recently? I have received stuff from them in the past relatively quickly. Could the delay have anything to do with the States and their almost-not-passing of the budget?
that being said, their shipping option for about 100~ cards was quite good (around $4), though it remains to be seen if they'll arrive.
Could the delay have anything to do with the States and their almost-not-passing of the budget?
Doubt it. If you purchased it 'weeks ago', it shouldn't be affected by that event. Personally, I doubt that it would have much to do with that, notwithstanding (technically, the government was running without budget for about 30 minutes or so, but never mind that).
That said, I made a purchase about 2 weeks ago and it arrived just fine despite some dubious NM-M claims

An increase is one thing, but when they want to charge you 25$ shipping for 3 Phyrexian Crusader(21$ total), its flat out stupid.

Umm, I just checked the shipping cost to a zip code from your province in canada, and the estimated standard international shipping for the three cards you mentioned ..... $2.25.
The priority mail international shipping was however $25, but thats always been stupid expensive (because thats what the post office charges.
Odds are you clicked on the wrong shipping option when you put in your information.
In the future I reccomend double checking your information before you post something of this nature here. Just a suggestion though.
So an employee from T&T got back in touch with me, and it turns out the package had never even left the state =S but they refunded me, and I'll definitely be shopping from T&T again! (even with the marginal increase in shipping fees =P i just wont order as often).
Hi all, I have a question that you all may be able to answer.
My play group shares a T&T account, so we can all see what each other are buying. Is there anyway I can erase the transaction so other members of my group can't look at it? I am planning on buying some cards for my friends EDH deck because his birthday is pretty soon, but I don't want him to see the transaction for the Foils that he is missing.
Thanks for letting me know!
