So I'm planning to sell some cards to Troll and Toad and I was wondering how people on MTGS who have sold to Troll and Toad have sent cards to them?
The main thing is that they don't want cards shipped to them in sleeves, so I'm not sure how to package them to keep them safe. These are fairly expensive NM cards, so I don't want them to get damaged in transit.
My Advice, don't send them cards...
The extra dollar or two on their buylist does not make up for the fact that you will have to harass them day and night about your order once they receive it, otherwise, you won't get your money man, stick to the major retailers, SCG, CFB, and the like. It doesn't matter how you send them cards, they're gonna dock you for condition no matter how perfect they arrive in.
To the poster above me, I honestly don't know how they stay in business doing things shady like that.
I'm effectively calling for a sitewide boycott of Troll and Toad.

Well I shall not be using them any more. Back in the day when I first started buying cards from the US they used to be OK, but not any more it seems. Customer service is key for repeat business. Since their site is hard to navigate, they are not really that much cheaper than other sites and their customer service sucks there is no longer an incentive to use them. Plus they cost me £50 ($75) to get a hold of my cards.

I'm not aware of laws in your country, but can't you sue for postal fraud like that? IE they claimed a value that was way higher than what was actually shipped?

I recently purchased a $10 card from them on ebay, and though it was advertised as NM condition, it arrived in EX or less condition. Obviously I wasn't very happy to receive it in that condition and was looking into returning it, but their policy appeared to be a standard one that the buyer would have to pay to return it to receive a refund. Not feeling I should have to pay to return it if I received it in the incorrect condition, I contacted them about it, and received a response quickly. Before receiving the response I did some additional research and found that in special circumstances they will send you a return shipping label via ebay to send it back free of charge, so I was happy to find that out. When I received the response they were very nice, and sincerely apologized for the issue, and immediately provided a full refund for my purchase and even told me I could keep the card in question rather than having to go through the hassle of returning it. I was honestly very impressed at how well they handled the situation, it is clear that though they may have the occasional issue with the condition of the cards they mail, they are more than willing to do what they can to make it up to the customer.
Just ordered a Commanders Arsenal Foil Mind's Eye from them 3 days ago. I received an order confirmation the same day and after 2 days without a shipping notification I emailed them asking what the hold up was, and I was informed that due to the holiday season, orders took longer to process. The card has since nearly doubled in value and I was notified that my order was cancelled due to being "out of stock". I am very skeptical that it took them 3 days to learn that the card was out of stock...
Something doesn't add up. Could they be telling the truth? Sure. I would give them the benefit of the doubt had the card not spiked or had they notified me that it was out of stock in a reasonable amount of time.
They have refunded my money which is fine, but I am left feeling disappointed and will not shop with them again, and will advise those I play with to do the same.
I´m from chile, have more than 30 orders from them, always cheap shipping: always have my cards.
the negative is variance in shipping times, range from 1 week to 3 months!, average is 1 month.
the only bad thing i have to say about T&T is that 3 times (or more) i have recieved the "ops we were out of stock of X" yeah they always refund, but other stores (mostly cardkingdom) makes up for the error (refund+some random cheap promos! yay!!).
anyway, i recommend T&T any day, specially for non USA people.
Are they still having bad weather down there in Kentucky? They received my buylist order on the 13th but it's the 20th now and they haven't paid me. I sent them a message a few days ago but they haven't responded.

Give them a phone call. Their customer service is pretty good from my experience.

EDIT: Finally got my credit today, I just wish they had Snapcasters in stock.
I received some cards from TnT today (my first purchase with them). All cards were purchased as "Near Mint," but virtually all of them came SP, one is MP. What can I do about this? Only one was over $10 (JSS City of Brass), and fortunately that one was in the best condition of the lot, but still not very good for NM. Ankh of Mishra was MP, though I don't really care because it was $0.50. It just feels like I got shafted. I don't really want to do a full return because I still want to put the cards to use now. Is there any hope at a partial refund, like getting the difference between their NM and SP price? What should I go about doing? Thanks in advance!

You ever think that maybe contacting Troll and Toad is a reasonable first step?

I'm just asking for help. Why the salty, presumptuous remark?
I did in fact contact them, but as I await their response I thought I'd ask if this is common or if anyone has experience dealing with this issue.

I've had that happen a couple times in the probably 15+ times I've ordered from them.
Except for once (when they just failed to find OR replace a $4 card), their customer service has been pretty good about replacing any cards that were sub-par, missing, or wrong.

I had that happen a few years back with a foil Rune-Scarred Demon. They ended up just giving me the money back for it since at the time I think I payed like $2.00 for it. Still, I would much rather have gotten a $2.00 NM foil Rune-Scarred Demon than a moderately played foil Rune-Scarred Demon for free.
Still, I have seen a decent amount of concern with their grading but overall their customer service seems to be alright.

I have officially moved to MTGNexus. I just wanted to let people know as my response time to salvation decks being bumped is very hit or miss.
I'm a bit disappointed in Troll recently. I've successfully placed orders with them in the past and never had issues. While this particular incident doesn't deal with Magic cards, it still reflects poorly on them as a whole.
On 3/3 I placed an order for some Yu-Gi-Oh cards for my son and immediately pay via PayPal. A few days later I receive an email from them that says they cannot ship the order right away because the cards in question are at a show with them and not in the warehouse. I find the claim dubious because NONE of the cards purchased are anywhere near Yu-Gi-Oh tournament staples, so it would make no sense that they'd bring random cards with them to a show. Finally on 3/10 they email saying the cards are back, but one of the ~20 or so cards I ordered is no longer available, they'll refund my $0.35 via PayPal. OK, mistakes in inventory happen, I get it. The order finally ships on on 3/10 via the slowest possible USPS route I could imagine. According to tracking, the order is allegedly going to arrive today, 14 days later, and 21 days after initial order. This is mid-west to east-coast. I can get first class mail from LA to NY in 3-4 days, not sure why Troll's packages take 14. Granted, much of this blame lies on the USPS, but I've never before had an experience with Troll where it takes them 7 days just to process the order.
Bought a Wilt-leaf Liege from Troll and Toad on Ebay - VERY disappointing. The card came *without* a toploader or a card sleeve, had clear bending around the corner, and whitening around the corners that would make it LP, and not NM as promised by them. Troll and toad has yet to get back to me on this (I sent them a message through Ebay), though I personally don't think this is worth the hassle (as I still need the card for personal use). I have photos that prove this if this is required for the post to stay.
Edit: They gave me a partial refund fairly quickly, so their customer service is decent. However, I would be wary about buying money cards from them.
I placed an order with Toad and Troll on the 10th. Lots of little stuff, a couple decent cards. Of note: two set foil copies of Magister of Worth (I have a friend going to GenCon, and the plan was to get John Stanko's signature). The order arrived on the 14th, no problem there. I opened it up, and while most of the order was correct, one of the 35-cent cards had a nice little crease across the front, and the two Magisters were promo foils. Not a huge deal, but I can't ask John Stanko to sign rk post's art, now can I? I explained this to them, and they said they'd send a correction. Then I took a couple days off from reality to deal with personal issues. When I got back to my life, I placed another order with them for some Origins stuff. The next day, the correction arrived. They'd replaced the 35-cent card (yay!), and the other two cards were both foil Magisters of Worth - one set foil and one promo foil. I let them know that once again, there was a mistake. I heard back two days later, with this: "I am assuming this is a keying error within our processing department. Can you please give me your order number?" I gave them the order numbers that day, and haven't heard back. That was a week ago.
On the bright side, my second order was entirely correct.
I know that it's really such a little thing, but it's the little things that add up. Mostly, I had a positive experience. They're consistently one of the first stores to have foils from the new set, which is awesome, and one of the reasons I keep coming back. They have a great selection, but as someone who's pretty anal about getting the exactly right version of a card, they don't fire on all cylinders 100% of the time.
Edit: I pinged them again and they refunded me for the Magisters. And then I ordered some Chaos Warps from them because their price just can't be beat.
Recently I sold some stuff to TrollandToad and it was one of the most miserable online experiences I have had yet. I got my sale list order approved, I sent the same day, and everything I thought was going great but it took them an entire month to "receive" even though I know due to my tracking they received it after two days (they are located almost exactly 3 hours, one state away). I can understand the holidays and such but there was extremely poor communication as it would take 2-3 emails to get one back. When they finally processed it, they gave me a huge difference between what they told me I would be getting and what would be added to my account (I got store credit) so I had to email them back which took another few days for them to correct. After that was all settled, I placed my order and it took a week to get my cards and when I did receive them they had near no protection to them (they were unsleeved in an extremely thin piece of card board folded over and inside an envelope) and one of the near mint cards I ordered had a small nic at the top, but at this point I didn't even want to deal with them anymore.
All in all it took nearly 6 weeks, they had very little/poor customer support, and not all of the cards arrived in the condition I payed for.
Ordered $200 worth of cards from them to complete a deck. They said they shipped on Dec 29th. Still no sign of my cards
I'll buy from a local shop next time even though the price is a few dollars higher on each card.
UPDATE: Just received my cards in the mail. The packaging is by far the worst out of all the other companies I have used. My cards were crammed together, unsleeved, in a makeshift paper envelope like they were commons. The condition of the cards were NOT NM as described. Some cards, like my "NM" griselbrand, are starting to develop this brown discoloration on the side like you see on old cards. Foils have clear damage at corners where the foiling came off.
I have ordered from strikezone, ebay, wizards tower, starcity, card kingdom, and trollandtoad just does not compare. Very disappointed and will not order from again.

I'd just like to echo this sentiment. I just received a $9 card I purchased from them off ebay. NO top loader, NO sleeve, not even so much as a damn penny sleeve. This from a well established store/vendor in the industry. If T&T can't afford a 6 cent top loader or a 1 cent penny sleeve, perhaps they shouldn't be in this particular business. I spend about $4k per year on Magic, and this latest experience will make me reconsider spending any of that with them. 10 seconds of your time and 6 cents worth of protection likely just lost you a customer.
Yep, they send stuff loose in a very strange self-folding cardboard envelope. If you are not *very* careful tearing it open, you risk ripping your cards too, or at least bending them. It's a little aggravating.
I did a several hundred dollar order from them a while ago. Some pros and some cons.
+ Reasonable shipping times. I recall placing my order mid afternoon Saturday, and it arrived on Wednesday I believe. Given the fact that my order was enormous and placed at an awkward time.
+ Fantastic buy list. Totally digital, updating prices. It includes other products too so in theory you can liquidate almost any gaming product for credit. Personally I sent a mix of heroclix, various cards, and some video games (N64, Xbox, etc...). Good prices for everything too.
+ Forgiving on buy list quality. I recall looking at my order status and seeing it knocked down ~$11, which I expected for selling such old games. However when my credit finally went through, it was for the full amount! I was very appreciative of this. The downside was how long it took for them to evaluate my order.
+ Good prices for most things. Some cards were overpriced, but some cards were ridiculous deals. I got a Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir for ~$7 less than tcg quote.
- You pay for that discount in card quality. My experience wasn't as bad as the other posts here, but I did receive a bent card. Thankfully it was just an Arcbond. Many of the NM cards had white marks on their edges from play as well. By perhaps sheer blind luck though, none of the poor quality cards were also expensive (except the ones I bought at played)
- Slowest customer service NA. I believe I sent them three queries over the course of my experience, and all of the responses I received came too late to be of use.
- One of the cards I ordered was somehow unavailable after I'd purchased it. It wasn't an expensive card, so its not a big deal. However I received notification that it'd be missing [i]right before[/c] my items shipped. Thanks to their unbearably slow customer service, my order was gone before they saw my request for a replacement card. Now I have like .70 cents of credit that I'll never use.
Overall a positive experience with a few downsides. But combined with the rest of this thread's feedback, it makes me wonder...
I got trolled by Troll and Toad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YKeF-AZsWaU. A few other cards (mostly foil) also have damaged borders and stuff. How can you grade the card in vid as a NM card?
Good customer service can only go so far. I still remember in 2009 I ordered a playset of foil zendikar Day of Judgment (with other cards in the same order) and received 3 regular foil and 1 buy-a-box foil. They sent me a 4th copy of regular foil while I got to keep the promo DOJ. But after getting trolled a few times (this isn't the first time they do this to me), I'll have to stay away form them as well.
So, you got the wrong version of a card (which is still playable). You complained, and they sent you the right version and said "keep the wrong version for free". Now, you had every right to complain about getting the wrong version, but how is that story not a win for you?
