I guess I'm a little surprised you're this upset about this even though you decided to place an order with them despite already waiting an unreasonable amount of time for them to process your buylist -- not to mention knowing full-well the risks involved when dealing with them, considering you had previously posted in this 3-year-old, 13-page thread that suggests they might have had shady business practices in the past. Is it that hard to believe some people support this store? I mean, it wasn't that long ago when you were the one posting that you had a positive transaction in contrast to several others who shared their experiences in this thread.
It is an annoying practice, and I'm not saying it's right, but MTGFanatic is hardly the only store that cancels orders like this in response to rapid price fluctuations. I'm sorry you felt burned, but I would just add them to your list of shops to avoid and make purchases elsewhere from places with a better reputation, unless you can accept the risks associated with a store's TOS.
EDIT: And to be clear, I agree there's no justifying the lack of communication on their end, but I haven't really seen much in this thread to suggest that this wasn't going to be a potential issue when ordering through them.
Your not wrong... They have been added to my do not visit list. It is important to put all this information out there as it happens so others can see and learn from what has happened to others.
I wanted to bump this thread with the hope that others will see my experience and avoid these people.
I placed a buylist order roughly 7 weeks ago and shipped my cards to them next day. They received and processed on their end within a week. At which time I saw that they accepted only about half of the cards I sent in. But what was also disturbing was a $20 fee of unknown type.
I worte them about both the acceptance of cards and the fee. After a week of emailing every day they tell me that I marked my package as UAE (united arab emirates) instead of USA and the $20 was for shipping. And that my cards were not NM hence why they didnt take them.
I took them at their word that it was my mistake on the UAE vs USA bit.
But! a couple things - 1) They shipped the package out the day they notified me that it was marked UAE not USA. Thus, they had a week to discover the issue and correct it, in fact they could have fixed it that day. 2) You HAVE TO print a customs slip when shipping over seas and the weight exceeds 15 oz. I work in the shipping industry. I KNOW this. So that means they looked at the address, saw Reston, VA 20190 UAE and thought nothing of it and slapped it on there anyway to send to UAE. HIGHLY Incomptent.
Fast forward. Cards are mailed to UAE but naturally stuck in transit as that is clearly a bad address. I contact USPS have them return the cards to MTGF. MTGF sends them to me here in Reston, VA. After they send - I wish I had checked earlier. I did some back digging through emails and I find the original order slip.
I DID NOT MARK THE ADDRESS AS UAE. So it was THEIR mistake 100%.
My cards are received and all ones marked NM ARE NM. Totally pack fresh. So, I went to their buylist... the ones sent back are ones they have lowered their buy price on.
In other words: They kept the cards they wanted to buy, said the others were not NM and shipped back as they decided the price wasnt worth it.
They have not been responding to my daily emails again for a week as I am trying to get my $20 back for them shipping to the wrong country. They wont respond.
In short - they have stolen $20 from me, took 7 weeks to pay me, cherry picked the value out of my sales lot, and have had the most god awful communication ever.
Go to the better business bureau website and see that 8 of 9 reviews up are terrible.
Wish I had checked here earlier. Here is my recent horrible experience. Long story short I order some M14 cards at pre-release. On my second e-mail, I get this response:
Wes -
Can I please get an update on this? The site says there is a 24 hour
turnaround to inquiries and this is my second attempt.
There has been no change in my order status since 7/21 and no update on
tracking information. It's still appearing as my package has not been
delivered to the post office for processing.
If I do not get some kind of response by EoB today, I will be opening a
PayPal claim.
MTG Fanatic:
I am sorry for the very late response, we have fallen behind on email this
week because of the release of M14 last week. Unfortunately, we cannot sell
50 of that item. When sets just come out and the prices are still in flux
and in the process of being more 'finalized', we usually do not sell this
large of a quantity of 1 item to one person. Unfortunately, our software
does not currently allow us to put constraints on the quantity of an item
that can be purchase. We can sell you 1 play set if you like at that price.
Please let me know if you want the play set and I will have the items in the
mail right away.
Sincerely,
MtgFanatic.com, Inc.
Cool, I get it. You have software limitations. But why sit on my money for 16 days (original order placed July 15th) and then lie about shipping my item? Last time they will have any of my business. I'd be very careful using this site.
Ugh, think same thing is happening to me (shipment date deceit, fake tracking, bad communication).
I placed a $100+ order last week and paid for 2day Priority mail so far all I have is a shipment date of the 5th, a shipping label printed on the 7th and no tracking movement.
It's an instant speed 5/5 trampler for 4. Wtf do you people want seriously? It has applications in populate/ above the curve beats decks, or in Bant control/ flash. I seriously think anyone mad at this card for any reason other than losing an attacker to instant speed wurm, should go home and make their own awesome card game and leave the rest of us alone.
Yea, quite possibly. Probably expect an email saying that they are short on staff (but never change how long they claim they will ship out orders). upon which time they will start with your order for the first time. Or expect an email response in a few days accompanied with a half apology that makes you feel like you are to blame and a refund a couple days later.

So yeah, no product. No email. No communication whatsoever. Had to wait the full period and have Paypal refund me in full. Sigh...

I'm currently experiencing issues buying from Mtgfanatic as well. I placed an order on 9/28 and have yet to receive the item. Sure they give you a tracking number, but what's the point if they don't even ship the item? No response to 2 e-mails sent either. Opened paypal dispute today - maybe that will get them to respond.
Not only do they consider that a binding contract isn't binding on them, but apparently you agree by buying from them that you will pay a penalty of $3,500 if you refuse to remove negative feedback about them.
Good thing I'm not a party to their hilariously terrible "contract" so I'm free to "libel" (seriously, they used that word) them.
Also, apparently you agree to waive any right to demand they not send you a trashed card.
Guys,
I am reading your complains about the receive the refund because of market pricing floating. I think their behavior in that aspect is awful, but I assure you in my case is worse. I unfortunately have bought using a credit card, and not Paypal. They got my money and do not deliver anything. I wrote them several times asking them to cancel my order and refund my money and so far no success.
This way, my recommendation for you is avoid those guys.

Call your credit card company and do a charge back. Just make sure they know you ordered a physical product and not an non-physical one like MTGO stuff. Some companies like PayPal and others can be touchy about that and will jump to conclusions about that unless you tell them up front about it.
If it were possible to give lower than a 1 Star, I would. This company had a MTG Card for sale at a certain price. 20 Copies were ordered. Order was confirmed. Payment was made. Notification via e-mail that the order was shipped. Many days pass. Upon rechecking the website, the order finally shows "Cancelled" and the amount of the purchase shows as "In Store Credit" with no E-Mail showing reason. Come to find out there was a jump in the cards value due to some play at tournaments. In order to maximize their value and profits, they rescinded the order. Still no word from them mind you. Did not reverse the transaction and are trying to keep the funds used for purchase and leave it as store credit. This is theft. Stay away from this company AT ALL COSTS. PSA
I rarely ever bought from them, but when selling cards to them, they're ridiculously picky about condition, so they're also bad in that aspect of the business.

Because people who are clueless about their behavior keep buying from them. Not everyone reads feedback about someplace before they buy from them.
