I ordered quite a few modern cards last Thursday, not because I was speculating but because I received my tax return and I was ordering some high end foils I had been looking at purchasing for awhile now. Shortly thereafter I received my first refunded order which was for a foil Misty Rainforest for $145 and a day later a second refund for another foil Misty Rainforest for $147 saying there was a mistake in stock and inventory. I got very upset at this as I had already had to repurchase the last one from a different seller for $165 trying my best to pick a seller who wouldn't flake as easily. I messaged them both in attempt to see if they would honor the price until another arrived in stock but received no return message. I don't think this should black list them but possibly just a warning. the sellers were:
MTGwarehouse
TheWarStoreCCG
TrollandToad
Also a bit of praise for WUBRG Cardhouse as I ordered a foil Tarmogoyf and they personally messaged me telling me they would be taking extra precautions because of the high end nature of the card when they sent it out.
And one last note I ordered 4 Foil Pyromancer Ascensions from three different sellers and Mythic Realm Games and Caveman Cards have both said they shipped (Ill update it they do in fact arrive) and Troll and Toad was the third seller who i have yet to hear from but will also update when i know for sure.
EDIT: Trollandtoad gave me a refund recently on the Pyromancer ascensions. Not surprised to say the least. the other two came through on their end. Also MTGwarehouse made an effort to make up for the cancelled order and i am much happier with the experience now i would say they're no longer black listed in my book.
You can add MagicandMonsters.com to this list, while for a decent while they have not done this...apparently this is a new business model.
Canceling my order on two different items in succession. Whatever proof I have to give (I can cut and paste each email if you guys want) or you can take my word for it.
You can be sure I'm going to log a complaint with them though It probably won't do anything.
...they canceled them way after I processed with them also. Which is even more unacceptable. *EDIT* 6 days after my order to be exact.

Curious as to what the price was that you paid for them. If it was an actual database error I would let it slide but if the price jumped and they just didn't want to ship it then, yeah that's not cool. Also how many did you order?

The purchase was made on 3/07 (notice this was even BEFORE GP Richmond got underway.) The email I received was yesterday 3/13. How can you say this was a database error and not BLATANTLY holding the cards to resell them (which they did). I checked, sure enough the Birthing Pods were on their site for 20$ each. "Database error" 6 days after my purchase? Don't think it's anything but a line of BS, however you want to slice it. The cards spiked and they didn't want to ship them, it's obvious from my emails and their re-posting at a new price.

I think as the power of speculation and tremendous market spikes become more prevalent this type of issue will become more common. When a card like Teferi can go from 3-4 bucks to 25+ in a few hours just because of the pro tour, we are in for a lot of heartache for people that actually start buying in at that 3-4 dollar price.
I prefer to order through TCGplayer as a gateway to the sellers, just because I feel it ensures I will get my product. I have rarely felt at the mercy of the seller because TCGplayer is very aggressive on making sure the buyer gets his or her product period. For instance I ordered the entire Eggs deck from TCGplayer just when Stansilav Cifka was winning the pro tour with it, every seller I bought from honored the order except one. That seller had some issues sending out the reshapes and second sunrises, but eventually everything was made right and I got the entirety of the deck from each site, despite the fact that I could sell the deck for over twice what I paid at the time the cards arrived to me.
danbock (powernine), on ebay, cancelled my order of 4x Runed Halo that I bought as they were spiking. There's a whole thread on reddit with more information of people with similar experiences with this trader.
Also, MTGIsland refunded my order that I placed the last day of Grand Prix Richmond, which contained a foil Mox Opal for just under $80. They sent me this message:
"Unfortunately I did not have 2 of the 3 cards you ordered in stock including the Mox so I have refunded your total order. I apologize for the inconvenience."
I suppose it's possible they are being truthful, but I'd watch out for this seller.
DJ magic cards, (www.DJMagicCards.com) attempted to order 7 thopter Foundry foil at under 3 each, and a day later reply we only have 2 in my inventory can honor that or cancel whole and give refund. I go to their main site and ebay and they have for over 10 each. Go figure. I told them I would be ok with four despite your site saying (on their FAQ) Normally, you can buy as many of one card as you want. However, sometimes I will limit the purchase of rare or uncommon cards to 4-8 cards per customer if the demand is very high or it has recently risen sharply in price and my price does not reflect that change. I rarely impose a limit, but if you want large numbers you may want to contact me before buying to insure I won’t place a limit. They message me back 2 days later after I sent requesting an update, they said "we have 2 not 4 sorry.
Has anyone else had similar issues with said shop?
After further reivew and someone bringing up somethings...... its clear that this store is acting very scummy. Policy or not, its a pattern of this type of thing. Added to the list.
I would like to add Astral Games to the list. Received these: http://imgur.com/a/guMI8#CkWW67H after trying to order 2 Wear//Tear Foils from Astral Games post-spike. The sad part is that I was not paying much lower than the retail price but they still demanded I send them the difference and then blamed it on Crystal Commerce. I opted for a refund simply due to the bad customer service.
Also, if you bought them for an advertised price and they agreed, then said "it was an error, you have to pay a difference", you be allowed to point out that by accepting payment, they owe you the cards. I know where im located, advertised price = what its sold at. This means they cant raise it at the register. Just letting you know.

So it seems after I replied just give me the two and refund the rest back ( their offer) they refunded my whole order and thus I'm not getting the two now. Well I called and no one answered to try and sort this out. Just seems to be going down hill.

The Overgrown TombFoil is now re-listed at 29.99 + 2.99 shipping. ~$3.50 higher than yesterday's purchase price.
The seller currently only has 23 sales.

Doing some repricing. Looks pretty typical, a few gainers and a few losers.
Wingmate Roc is up around $15 with the fetchlands now.
Dig Through Time jumped to $20 last night and settled around $10 tonight.
Siege Rhino has gone from $4 to $5 recently, and now looks closer to $8.
Jeskai Ascendancy has doubled to $7.
Ashcloud Phoenix has also doubled, to $6.
Pearl Lake Ancient went from $2 to $6 last night. I sold about 30 copies and had to refund most of them, blah. What strange things speculation is doing to this market currently.
Rakshasa Deathdealer looks like it's going above the $3 threshold for the tally.
Savage Knuckleblade has fallen quickly from $6 to under $3.
Sarkhan is on the way down. Sorin is on the way up.

But really, after everything that rancored_elf has done for MTGSalvation, you're actually going to suggest this? I am astounded. No. Just no.
Plus, the way that's phrased, it reads like he honored some of the orders, but was unable to fill all of them. Unless you have better evidence than an ambiguous sentence, leave rancored_elf alone.
Playing millions of cards every turn... Slowly and systematically obliterating any chance my opponent has of winning... Clicking the multitude of locking mechanisms into place... Not even trying to win myself until turn 10+ once I have nigh absolute control... Watching my opponent desperately trying to navigate the labyrinthine prison that I've constructed... Seeing the light of hope fade and ultimately extinguished in an excruciatingly slow manner... THAT'S fun Magic.
We have 2-3 users that are dramatically making this thread incomprehensible and non-productive for anyone else to possibly join in the discussion. This needs to change.
Every time I see [ktkenshinx] post in here, I get the impression of a stern dad walking in on a bunch of kids trying to do something dumb and just shaking his head in disappointment.
Near Mint: The same as Slightly Played, but we threw some Altoids in the box we stored it in to cover up the scent of dead mice. Slightly Played: The base condition for all MTG cards. This card looks OK, but there’s one minor annoying ding in it that will always irritate and distract you whenever you draw it. Moderately Played: This card looks like it survived the Tet Offensive tucked inside the waistband of GI underwear. It may smell like it, too. Heavily Played: This card looks like the remains of Mohammed Atta’s passport after 9/11. It may be playable if you double-sleeve it to stop the chunks from falling out. The condition formerly known as "Washing Machine Grade" Damaged: This card is the unfortunate victim of a Mirrorweave/March of the Machines/Chaos Confetti/Mindslaver combo.
[M]aking counterfeit cards is the absolute height of dishonesty. Ask yourself this question: Since most people...are totally cool with the use of proxies...what purpose do [high] quality counterfeit cards serve?
He doesn't get a pass on doing something most people frown upon because he "does so much for the community" which is posting a thread that shows what hes selling cards for.
What a ridiculous notion.
He's a scummy owner doing a scummy thing. He deserves to be posted here.
Also you've been a member here for a whopping 2 months...why are you acting like you somehow know what's best the the forum/community?
And to completely destroy your argument he has a ton in stock at 6$ today after "refunding" a ton last night. Thus, he's clearly not selling them at the price he was offering them at.

This. His site advertises unlimited inventory, and he still has the cards re-listed at a higher price. His running tally threads are more of a thinly-disguised advertisement than a community service, and anyone can get more accurate pricing data in 30 seconds on TCGplayer or magiccards.info. Posting in them does not excuse shady selling practices. If anything his practices need to be called out more since name recognition from his not-so-subtle solicitation on this site might lead people to believe he is a trustworthy seller.
I'm afraid I have to agree. He cancelled an order I did on his site. I could understand if I had ordered 30 Pearl Lake Ancients, but I did not. The only explanation that I received was that my order was not in accordance with site guidelines. His site guidelines say he has the right to protect himself and you may not order more than 8 of any one card. Ok, I wasn't trying to scam him and I ordered less than 8 of any one card. I asked for further explanation and didn't receive it. Looks like more and more store owners are coming to the conclusion that honoring prices makes you a chump and not some paragon of virtue. It doesn't really pay to be nice to broke ass magic players.
I will say that he cancelled in less than 24 hours, but not responding to a request for more information means I won't even bother to browse his site anymore.

I will say that he cancelled in less than 24 hours, but not responding to a request for more information means I won't even bother to browse his site anymore.
