I don't mind paying the--whatever 2.9% to paypal--if i must, but that plus the -.05 per tic basically = -.08 per tic.
So, I turn to the wise, wise users of this forum to see if there is a list of respectable ticket buyers or what have you.
Honestly, .08 per $1 is not too much for the peace of mind that I won't be ripped off. But, maybe someone here knows of other outlets for SAFELY selling with a closer to $1 return.
Low effort, low risk: Sell to a big dealer
Low effort, medium to high risk: Sell to an unknown buyer on MTGO (I do not recommend this as PayPal *will* screw you if you get fraudulently charged back. At the very least, talk to the buyer over the phone before going ahead.
Medium effort, low risk: Wait until KTK is 2 weeks short of redeemable. Convert all your tickets to regular sets. Sell them as complete sets on Ebay. Use buyout ONLY, relist until they sell, and slowly discount them over time.
High effort, low to medium risk: As above but convert to foil sets (a multiple of 4). Split them and sell everything good as 4-ofs (so one listing for 4x Foil Polluted Delta, one for 4x Foil Treasure Cruise, and for things you expect to have Commander demand only, sell them as 1-ofs instead). Start high priced, drop aggressively over time. Then, sell the remaining cards as a big lot (e.g. "360 FOIL Khans commons, $36", "120 FOIL Khans rares, $72" etc)

This is the most complete answer. When it comes to dealers, make sure you check in periodically - the price for tix can vary week to week (usually highest during releases).

Cardhoarder - Check out our completely customized website. Buy MTGO cards using Tix, USD, Euro, GBP, CAD, AUD, JPY or BITCOIN. Isle of Cards - Our newly launched MTG paper store buys and sells physical MTG cards!
Yes, company check is typically an option for big dealers. We also send wire transfers to some folks, but usually that is only for a few thousand at a time (and usually there is a fixed fee on both ends - $25 to send, $15 to receive domestic - more international).

Thanks for the detailed response, I will consider purchasing a set and selling it on Ebay before I sell off tix for $.
(If I'm not too lazy to do so.)
I read the set redemption thread on the forum, but I see people offer to have the set shipped direct from WotC.
So, one more question:
---> When you redeem a set can you plug in any (American) address you want it sent to or it automatically goes to your billing address? <---
You can indeed ship to someone else, but they use a weird tracking that is kind of "after the fact" so if it gets lost it's a lot of work. (When I lived in an apartment, Fed ex put a box with 12 sets on my back side neighbor's porch. I happened to see it and sure enough it had my name on it so I just took it.)
I've bought sets this way paying someone else with sets to sell. As you've pointed out those transaction fees matter (I paid with a check). The thing about redeeming and selling a full set is that you're out about 20% if you're not top rated just to move the thing and you have to allow about 3 weeks for shipping if you aren't redeeming first. (IE you're drop shipping to someone's house). I really don't recommend the drop ship method. If you are going to ebay it, redeem it first then move it.
Personally if I were in your shoes I would either take the check from MTGO Traders or Sell the tix via paypal and eat the 3% if you need the money now.
Edit: I should really add that question about shipping to someone else to the FAQ.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
So here's the verdict,
I sold to MTGOTraders and took the hit. It wasn't as painful as I thought it would be, honestly.
Thoughts?:
The percentage lost is worth the peace of mind. The time from requesting the sale to having the $ in my paypal account was under a half hour, probably under 10 mins.
Did I lose a few bucks? Yes.
Was it quick and easy? Yes.
Did it make me feel like I'm kind of, sort of, supporting my MTGO play? Yes. Great feeling, highly recommend it.
Why did I go with this method?:
I looked at the top sellers on Ebay and saw how little of a return they were able to sell redeemable sets at (presumably because they can do this in bulk)
I figured I'd maybe make a few bucks more, but (for me) it wasn't worth the hassle... i.e. less time running an Ebay sale = more time doing other stuff / MTGO-ing.
If I had enough to buy, say, 10 sets, I may have had to reconsider.
If you ever want to sell a TON of tickets we also offer wires with a flat wire fee. This only makes sense if the paypal fees are going to be over $40. We have some guys that sell 10,000 at a time and that works out well for them.

I have a couple thousand tix (approx 2400), and looking for the best rate net of fees. MTGOTraders is my standby (and currently at 0.95), and Cardhoarder is also 0.95. Anything else better at the moment (only traditional dealers....do not want individuals)
Im new and this is the most rescent post i could find, are the TIX the trading currency? Are those the event tickets? Can someone explain pleaswse.... thanks!
