I drafted heaps in the last 10 months and being selling cards i have to do more drafting, however im left with alot of junk rares or rares <1 tix. Would be good to get views on:
1. DGM: I probably need about 100 tix of rares to complete the set x4. Is it worthwhile to spend 100 tix and redeem this, and how much would i get from traders/ebay?
2. Same question by for Theros, about 50 tix needed to get set x4, how much would i get from traders/ebay?
3. I still dont mind holding onto the Theroes set as i can use it to play block, how long can i hold off from selling before they plunge in value?
I would unload literally everything you're not redeeming or using, before you lose even more money on it.
Redeeming DGM is not worthwhile (only cards worth anything in paper are Voice and Blood Baron). Redeeming Theros is only going to get better as the set drops due to less Standard events.

Hey all... I'm retired, not dead. Check out what I'm doing these days (and beg me to come back if you want):
From an Australian perspective here. We have a less liquid singles market, and so while high demand cards sell at the same prices as in the US, lower demand cards can sell significantly higher (e.g. stores can get good prices for medium demand cards like Dreadbore that hold little value in the US):
- RTR: Hasn't changed in price, because redemption drives the MTGO price of the set. Marginally profitable to redeem, not worth the effort.
- Foil RTR: As RTR. Very expensive set because of the high value Modern/Legacy foils. If you have the capital behind you, consider redeeming four, splitting them, and selling them as singles on Ebay (e.g. one listing for 4x foil DRS, one for 4x foil Abrupt Decay, etc). Know which cards are worth money foil - they are not quite the same as the ones worth a lot non-foil.
- GTC: Has collapsed in value online. Profitable to redeem if you sell the set as one object via Ebay "buy it now".
- Foil GTC: No real paper demand. I recommend against redeeming this.
- DGM: Needs to fall further to be worth redeeming. It will only be worth redeeming if you are in an area where Ral Zirek and Master of Cruelties are in demand (in my area, they are not but both are popular casual cards)
- Foil DGM: Keep an eye on this. At ~225 tix it isn't worth it - at 190-200 it might be. Sell as one unit, do not split this set.
- M14: Was worth it at 90 tix, but the set has gone up from that point. Not worth it now. Keep watching.
- Foil M14: Do not pay over 250 for it (it's way over 250 now).
- Theros: If it falls to 110, this is profitable.
- Foil Theros: Too early to say. Paper foils from this set will CRASH HARD over the next month due to MTGO redemptions.
One you may not have thought of:
- Normal Dark Ascension. Huntmaster remains Modern relevant. Aristocrat, Gravecrawler and Messenger are Modern fringe cards. Sorin is a huge casual card with fringe Modern applications. Set is <50 tix atm and only USD5 redemption fee.
DGM full sealed sets are listed for $130+ on ebay, while the set is retailing for ~$60. How is this not worth redeeming?
Depends how well they sell. Don't forget USD 25 per set to redeem plus whatever shipping is for you (USD 30 per order to Australia for 1-11 sets, 12+ is never worth it for tax reasons as we need to pay GST on orders of 12+).
Yeah, getting it shipped to Aust would obviously destroy any margin, but $3 shipping to the US might work if I can work something out there. Even with the $25 redemption fee and ~$10 in ebay/paypal charges, seems like there's an opportunity there. I'll look into ebay histories and make sure items are selling at that kind of price and not just being listed for that, but there's multiple around that mark so I assume it's not a randomly picked price.

Looks like the last DGM complete sets that actually sold on ebay were about 2 weeks ago, for $130 w/free shipping. Right now you can find the sets via buy it now for as low as $120 w/free shipping. So lets check the math real quick to see.
$120 - $12 ebay fees - $4 paypal fees - $6 priority mail shipping = $98.
Cost on mtgo = (looks like $65ish) + $25= $90 + the incremental cost of shipping = still ballpark of $90. All that effort for less than a 10% gain. A gain it may be, but certainly not much.

Don't forget - what sets sold for recently is not necessarily what they will sell for in 1-2 weeks when you get your redemptions. I expect quite a number of people to cash out through redemption; enough to dent the Ebay market at least.
that's @retail prices, if you've already got cards (ie. your opportunity cost is wholesale), it's a 20%+ gain because wholsale is ~$50.
That's true enough, comparing what one would get selling to a dealer on mtgo vs going through and doing a redemption themselves. Still likely not nearly as much as it made it look like giving the value difference. Tends to shock a lot of people these days just how much fees/shipping/redemption costs/etc take what seems like a huge moneymaker and turns it into just a soso idea.
I have not redeem before, lets say for example i have Theros X4 of everything, do i pay Redemption Cost x4 and Shipping x4?
This does seem extremely unfair if shipping is also x4.
If paper is generally more profitable then why doesn't bots cash out too?
Many bot owners either redeem for their local store, or they are part of a cartel that sells sets to stores/ebayers et. The average player seriously underestimates the effect of redemptions to online card prices.
Everyone gets a markup depending on where they are in the food chain. Remember bots get "buy" prices for redemptions.
They don't cash out their whole inventory because 1) They do make tickets on turnover (buy/sell) and 2) They need to give people incentive to bring cards, esp Mythic's to their bot.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.

The difference in value of Shocklands in MTGO against Paper is compelling.
