Not sure if this is the exact spot or not but Ill go ahead and MODs can feel free to move it or not. I recently bought some Russian and Japanese DoK cards on line. The Japanese ones are just like the English one but the Russian ones just feel different, like slicker or not quite as stiff IDK. I kind of doubt they are fakes as it was just some commons and uncommons (>10$ worth of cards) Is this common? I don't have a great deal of experience with foreign cards. Thanks
This is the wrong place (the right place would be in MtG General), but I will go ahead and answer that. Those are normal. I have seen and felt Russian and Japanese DtK out of a factory sealed box at my locals and that is how they feel. You cards are right and real.
0_o Well, I guess my friend was smart to get the Dragonlord Atarka foil he wanted for his EDH deck last week for $23. I see the foil is showing a TCGMid price of $76 now after the Pro Tour!

That's absolutely ridiculous. I'm getting so tired of Speculation: The Gathering.
I guess I'll be waiting until rotation to pick up the foil dragonlords.

and on the opposite end, i was apparently quite dumb to sell mine for $20
If you're the kind of person that likes foils and have the money who cares what the prices are. Foil mythics aren't exactly common by any measure, the best cards should be worth a lot of money.
To me foils are pretty pieces of cardboard with a layer that makes them bend but they do help singles sellers get extra value from opening product from those rich enough to afford to "pimp" out their decks. So because the cards bend you're better off having your entire deck foil so your whole deck is curled and your foils don't become marked out in your library.

You mean you're tired of losing at Speculation: The Gathering.
Me, it's turning into my favorite game. Way better than standard itself.
So now 3 of the 5 dragonlords at at triple their original prices. While the last two (BR and GW) aren't particularly good, I think Wizards has lived up to their responsibility to print constructed level dragons in a Standard set. Such a fantastic change from just a few years ago.

Speculating is half the fun of magic, I've found. The whole financial aspect is fascinating. Honestly though, it really only takes a few seconds to realize if a card is good or not. I personally voted for Atarka to be the most powerful dragonlord during spoiler season, mostly just because it seemed stupid with whip of erebos, let alone just hardcasting it on turn 4 or 5. Powerful cards warrant high price tags, even if their power is never realized.

Classy response, but not unexpected.
Don't know if you can really lose a game that you don't play. It's sad to see Magic in this BUY NOW OR LOSE state where every time a new set comes out you are forced to play the speculation game or you end up having to pay an exorbitant amount of money for a card that'll be worthless come rotation.
Either way, I can't see these prices holding. The set has 6? high value mythics and quite a few rares that at least pay for a pack. It's also the newest Standard set with no more in the pipeline anytime soon. People will be opening packs and the cards, especially the dragon lords, will drop back down from their post-tournament hype. That's my prediction anyway.
Take it how you like. Magic is the same as it ever was - sorry you're so salty that prices increased instead of decreasing like you had hoped. Pre-release prices were so low this time around - people are getting savvier with the pre-release hype. I think. Buy what you need for standard. Forget the rest. Your foil dragonlords will come down in price again.

So why is Silumgar's Command worth so little right now? It seems very underrated for what it does. Maybe when Hero's Downfall rotates prices will shift?

Cheers
It's going to be annoying for deck building but at least the cards will be legal for 6 months longer than the rest of the block.
Dragonlord Atarka is just Timmy heaven. People at my LGS were hunting them down even before the PT started.
So it looks like Deathmist Raptor, Dragonlord Atarka and Dragonlord Ojutai are the big winners and the planeswalkers are average and will probably sink as these 3 rise up due to greater playability.
