With Theros release around the corner, it's about time one of these came to life.
The same as every other running tally thread we've had here in cafe! This thread can be used to talk about everything and anything theros related. If you would like to add a price list to this thread, it will be linked and added to the opening post, but please remember to also add where you are getting your prices from (Ebay prices will be different from online shops, etc).
Here is the most recent thread about Theros projected values.
TCGPlayer average prices for a couple different dates, September 19th and October 1st. Cards in bold were the biggest movers (proportionally to their previous price):
I'll chime in then. I've seen a TON of locals trade for all the scry lands as quickly as I can get them. They still don't seem great to me - but maybe they see some promise in them that I don't ?
I've tried to trade off all of my new high-dollar rares that aren't in decks (Ashiok, Elspeth, Stormbreath, Thoughtseize) for shocklands (now focusing on breeding pools & watery graves) and Deathrites.
I feel like Nykthos, Boon Satyr and Anger of the Gods hold a good bit of promise. Additionally, I think Polukranos holds a good bit of potential. Aggressively costed, comes out early and kills the opponent's board before swinging. I traded for fleecemanes at about $6 ea out of fear of being left behind if they take off. I personally see a realistic ceiling for them at $15 if they get played.
Honestly, I think everyone's sitting and watching and stocking up on their picks while our charts add a couple of more data points over the next few weeks.
Ok what mana fixing do we have in standard besides shocks? Scrylands and Guildgates that is all. So yes the lands are going to be tradeable. I also look for Solidier of the Pantheon to be a superstar in the coming days. I cannot believe that Ashiok went up so high. Is she that good?

Ashiok performed in the very first large tournament that happened since the set came out. SCG open had multiple copies in the top 8 with the top Esper deck playing 3 copies in his main deck. Many Esper players were actually wishing they played more Ashioks in their decks.
The last time this happened to a card was the first Modern event after RTR, when Deathrite Shaman came out. Nearly every Jund player during that pro tour that lacked the card felt his deck was weaker because of it.
Whew, just finished finally getting Theros into my inventory. Box value looks like it will be better than I'd expected but not record breaking. I'll have my running tally up tomorrow
And yeah those scrylands are fairly tasty IMO. Scry makes you feel okay that it enters play tapped, and makes them really juicy on first turns, yet not dead later in the game.
I think seizes are still falling. I expected to see it settle around 17, but on TCG they're already 17, and I really didnt think it would hit that so fast. So maybe thats not the low, concitering there still is boxes yet to open.
Once redemption hits and give another month or so. You should see Thoughtseize sub $15 and depending on how well black does in standard, it could go to $10
Supply hasn't exceeded demand for seize yet but in a few months I see thoughtseize being 10ish. Price is lowered further by theros being drafted for the next 8 months or so.

"Yawgmoth," Freyalise whispered as she set the bomb, "now you will pay for your treachery."
I think the with the shocklands alrady pushing to $15 people are going ot be freaked and jump on the scry lands for $5. If it is anthing like the Innistrad lands, and Scars lands they will start sub $5 peak at $15-$20 when they are really needed and then drop back to $3 at rotation. I say get them now wheile you can.
Thoughtsieze will crawl to $15 while as long as there are mythics worth opening in the set. The 3 plansewalkers are all hot, the dragon looks good, the sexiness will wear off the gods but they will ceratinly hold some casual appeal even if they don't see 4X play.
I see most of it still holding the early hype until after states, but 10% of the cards might see a pump.
I have a hard time seeing the lion get up to $10, nor below $5. There are great selesnya cards but only the Voice is holding any serious value. I would take a wait and see approach here.
Don't be sure, it's one of the most abundant cards on eBay right now. 200+ buy it now auctions, well more than any other Theros card. The market is absolutely saturated and falling prices corroborate that. But yeah your price target of $10 is reasonable IMO, unless demand really picks up soon. It's a great card but the market is saying price is headed lower fast, at least for now.
Seize is headed lower, simply because any new player who opens one is immediately interested in trading it for a card that does "something"...i.e., Armada Wurm and the like. I keep telling them it's worth more, but they don't really care. So I can definitely see it at $10.

The card's most recent move is on right. means no movement. is a card that wasn't on the list last update. This is the update's hottest mover. (#) is price in CND incl. shipping here.
38 cards worth $3 or more, and therefore worth opening in a booster pack, makes this a very lengthy tally! In fact, there has never been a tally this long. Granted, several of the cards which just barely made the cut will likely fall off the tally as things shake up in the first week or two here, but there's no denying the length of this tally is noteworthy.
Elspeth. My initial thought is that you definitely do get what you pay for, but 6 mana is a lot. I don't think people who play it are going to want 4 copies, perhaps 2. Like many planeswalkers it may soften up before it really finds a home and solidifies in price. Stormbreath Dragon is both red AND a timmy card, so destined for a huge fall. Overpowered on paper, but I don't think the market will bear out the $30+ pricetag long. Ashiok apparently has risen to where it is now (3rd place) over the past few days, from what I read. Looks like it's tourny viable and is a card to watch. Thoughtseize is in MASSIVE abundance right now and may in fact be the Magic card with the most number of copies for sale on eBay. I can't see it holding the $20 level for long, even with huge demand. That said, I think it has long term potential, but if you're looking to pick them up, you might want to hold off. Xenagos was heavily hyped but now seems to be cooling. The gods (and Fleecemane) seem to be clumped around the $10 mark for now and I'm unsure what their future will be, other than that they will spread out on the tally. I'm a bit ticked the green one is so weak. I'm also fairly annoyed (as a designer anyway) that the "gods" can't even grant themselves the abilities they grant their followers. The god that makes its believers trample.... can't trample? Ugh. Sylvan Caryatid is good enough to be 3rd best rare in the set right now, at least on my list. Hero's Downfall comes in close behind at 14th overall. I'm a hater of this card in terms of design, but the power level is what matters here, and it's a very potent card. Why Murder and Dreadbore, just themselves printed, needed to be obsoleted I'll never know.
Among the rest of the tally, the Temples look good to me. I think with shocklands now rising in price, they'll be sought after for their mana fixing as well as the very potent first turn Scry. Many of the god weapons are sitting near the bottom of the tally and might not last long. Sure they do more than 1 thing, but in most cases what they do isn't very synergistic. You feel like you're getting a bonus ability, but that doesn't always translate into a card seeing more play, or being worth more. Also, they're vulnerable in having 2 card types, as well as the legendary drawback. Firedrinker Satyr seems to be suffering from "I don't want to overvalue it because it's really just a reprint of another card, so I'll drastically UNDERvalue it instead" syndrome and will be in for a rise if it sees play. I'm a fan of Mistcutter Hydra, splashable efficient and hasty, with upsides against blue. But like a lot of great cards (Skylasher comes to mind) it may never see any play. Soldier of the Pantheon seems at LEAST as good as Isamaru (2/2 vanilla legend for :symw:) but who knows if it will find decks or not. That said, I've got a highlander white weenie deck that will take ANY 2/1 for 1 without drawbacks that it can get. This guy's only drawback is that he's only an Elite Vanguard sometimes.
I don't have any box value data yet, but just on a hunch, I'd say Theros is looking better than the great-but-undervalued M14, and up there with RTR. At least at this early stage.
I'm going to update prices (and this thread) regularly over the next few weeks. First update will be this weekend.

That always makes me nervous. Cards are expensive because of strange market reasons and once it adjusts because it's a wildly popular set... Bombs away.

What do you mean by "strange market reasons"?
Also, are you saying that sets that start out popular/valuable tend to end badly? If so, RTR is the last set that came out which was anywhere near this popular/valuable when it came out, and it has done nothing but shine ever since.
Strange market forces are things like speculation, hype, short supply simply due to the fact that the set is new. I'm not saying it will tank, but RTR is bolstered by a couple of things - First, shocklands. Second, it's stupid good to play with and looks to hold up T2 for a while.
I am just nervous when I see a set that looks to be worth so much more than the MSRP of a box.

I agree with this 100%
This set seems to be giving the EDH vibes which is good in the long long run but when you compare that to shocks, abrupt decay, DRS, and other potential modern playables of RTR, it doesn't spell stability at all for the next couple months
