If they provided you a refund, all you can do is let the people know here what the store is, and what they did, and then rate them poorly if there is a place to do so. Things like this are unfortunate, but there is little you can do about it. Paypal certainly wont, since you got a refund. Given that their site is still in the process of being put together though, I would probably give them the benefit of the doubt on this one.
Thanks for the reply. Well there ya have it guys, this store will back out on a sale when they realize they were too slow in adjusting their prices.
I want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but it says right on their home page that ordering is functional. If it didn't say that, I wouldn't have wasted my time placing the order...

And as I was expecting, Vesuva is now sold out under 10€ (not $!) on mkm (except my border worn one @ 6,99 *sigh*).
What I find funny in these speculations is that foil cards tend to stay at the same prices as a week ago, but nobody buys them. Maybe I should pull the trigger on foil Vesuvas since Judge Cliques are beginning to get snagged.
There are still plenty of Vesuvas under ten dollars on TCGplayer, which is way less than ten Euros. As for foils, there's lots of people who don't like them.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
i just clicked buy for 6 pieces of Vesuva for USD10 each on my LGS website.
I'm not sure if i got any value but it was too difficult to find even single pieces of Vesuva at the moment and i just gave up.
12 Post is almost certainly going to be good in Modern for a long time. It's a safe investment IMHO.
As for other cards to watch, keep an eye on Kavu Predator. He's the new "it" creature for Zoo. KP has great syngergy with Nature's Claim and Fiery Justice and helps to explain the spike in Grove of the Burnwillows. He's an uncommon from a very low selling set, so I look for him to go up especially since Zoo is the #1 deck right now and will do well at PT coming up.
Good lord, what is going on here? Modern is basically Extended, and no one cares about Extended except during PTQ season. I really don't think anyone is going to play Modern for fun, since they already have Legacy and EDH. And if they are then they could already do so and even add their favorite cards from other eras too. It's believe it's already got a name and it's called Casual.
The increase in the value of some of these cards is totally reasonable. Shocks at $5 were too low given their casual appeal, and stuff like Clique is rocking Legacy, so that makes sense, but the rampant speculation on anything that's good in Modern is just getting stupid.
What's going on is trying to get a Jump on an eternal format that will be played for a long time. Neo-Extended has failed, in part, because of the shortness of time you got to play with your cards; Standard +2 would have been a better moniker. One of the draws of Old-Extended was due to the long window cards were legal for; you got more value out of a card before it rotated. Vintage/Legacy were popular formats, until cost of entry priced most people out of most decks. Modern (or Over-Extended, if it gets enough support) is a non-rotating format with a lower cost of entry (right now, at least), giving a lot of perceived value to cards that are legal in them. There's speculation that WOTC can keep cost of entry from becoming too high a barrier by selective reprints, since no format-legal cards are on a reserved list.

This is actually what I think too. People hated new Extended so much that they haven't realized that Modern is almost just a revised version of Old Extended. They're embracing a new (old) format as if it had never been seen before, and the speculation is getting nuts.
The main difference between this one and old Extended is that there is no rotation. That's why people are gung-ho about this since they don't have to keep making new decks or buying new cards or selling rotated cards at a loss.

Right now it might be like old extended, but as time goes, modern doesn't rotate, and it's staples can be reprinted. As a format, it isn't "old" extended, but the carpool might be. Watch for less legacy support from WotC and more modern support. I think they're trying to phase in an eternal format they can easily support with reprints and power-level.
Because conservative bias is a far, far worse thing. Liberal bias doesn't, statistically speaking, make people stupid. Conservative bias (or at least Fox's version of it) does.
Modern will be the death of being able to buy magic cards.
Look, Modern is a totally different beast from Extended. A) There are more sets legal than there were when Extended was changed. B) Old Extended was nearly as hated as it was made out to be. New Extended (Double Standard) was. C) Modern does not rotate. Extended's rotation was totally wonky and hard to keep up with. Since Modern doesn't rotate, people are going to have more confidence in the market and in the tournament scene. D) This format was brought about because people were asking for a non-rotating format unimpaired by the Reserve List. The audience for Modern was ready made, so there's a solid base to start with.
Modern has a great chance to be successful. I hope it is.
Regardless of whether you agree with it, think its ridiculous, whatever, the price changes ARE happening. You can ignore it if you want to, but you lose out on a lot of potential that way. My personal plan is going to be to try and leverage hot Modern cards into legacy staples. I'm sure there are people trying to do the opposite. I'm somewhat risk averse, so I'd rather have the sure bet than the option that could skyrocket or could crash and burn.

Same here. I'm trying to trade my shocklands for duals/Legacy staples, or just a good deal period. However, most of the high-priced Modern staples are both legal in Legacy and Modern (like Bob, Goyf, Clique) so I'll hold onto those.
Just as an update, I havent sold much of any shocklands of late, and have had a bit of an accelleration of people trading them in, and Ive yet to have a complaint on the amount Ive offered for them (which is a fair amount to also cover me in case they top out and begin to drop at some point). I think as we get closer to actual sanctioning of the format that people may begin picking them up more, but I think for now we may see a lot of the cards that have allready shot up, begin to stall out soon.

Has anyone actually done that? Trading 'down' their duals for your shock lands(multiple obviously)? If so, I think you are a lucky person :). I have the complete playset of blue dual lands however I have yet to finish my playset of non-blue dual lands. Haven't found anybody willing to trade their old somewhat beat revised non-blue duals for some of my more popular minty mint shock lands even after the huge price/valuation jump of the shock lands post Modern official announcement. I think its due to a lot of people figuring reprints will be down the road and thus aren't having full faith in the recent price/valuation jump of the shock lands.
Bob, Goyfs, Cliques are definite must keeps. All see play in Vintage/Legacy and EDH currently as proven by the various SCG Open(s) and the recent 2011 Gencon Vintage Champs where 4 of the Top 8 used Dark Confidant, 3 of the Top 8 used Vendilion Clique, etc etc.
Vendilion Clique was always an undervalued card at less than $10 so its jump is reasonable given the speculation. I always wondered why it wasn't seeing a jump in value before even though it was used in conjunction with other high value cards like Force of Will, Jace TMS etc that usually place well in Vintage and Legacy tournaments. Where it will settle at I don't know but I think its absolute floor should be $10+ or even $15+ if Modern takes off but then again, I don't know if blue will even be a contender with the Modern metagame as it looks like at the moment given the 'final' banned list etc.
Crovakiet, sometimes it's not even necessary to trade because of how much stores are paying for the shocks. I sold 3 Breeding Pool + a bunch of other random Modern staples to Channel Fireball and bought two Tropical Islands. I may have gotten them at a higher price, but I still turned Modern stuff into duals.
yea I agree with the above post..... personally, I would much rather put my time and effort into the original duals rather then chase the shocklands...although I wont be playing modern, so maybe thats not fair of me to say....
as a standard player, Ive already traded most of my shocks for foil standard gold....although this might seem wise, I do believe shock prices will fall once everything is settled, and at least Im trading them for a high price now.
obviously, the shocklands are inferior to the original duals, so I really have no desire to collect them....id rather just go after the duals...but like I said, I have no intention of playing modern...
its kind of refreshing though, a month ago people wouldn't even look twice at cards like stomping grounds in my binder, and now I can trade premium for them....

Yeah. But I just don't like selling to stores for the fact that they can screw you over with their grading of your cards. So I'm trying to grind out as much as I can for the extra shocks that I have (only keep 1 of each for EDH). Got a FOIL Misstep and a Consecrated Sphinx for a Temple Garden and Sacred Foundry today for example.
Horizon Canopy is definitely going to rise, IMO. I need to grab my EDH one before it goes nuts, though it's less likely to explode than Grove. KOTR and Hierarch I think will be a bit more stable, since KOTR has a ton of supply thanks to the duel decks and Hierarch is easily, if suboptimally replaced by things like Birds of Paradise and Llanowar Elves as was mentioned earlier. That's not to say I won't be picking them up in trades whenever I can.

I think the major contributor to this is that it's an Eternal format that is familiar to most people that doesn't have the same entry fee as Legacy for new players and that isn't as costly to switch decks around. Additionally, the power of newer cards that many players either held onto for Extended reasons or because they're generally powerful/Legacy staples is somewhat relevant by and large (which leaves much to be said for cards that rotated out of Extended and that many players sold off to offset the expected loss from rotation from the format).
The other thing that many people forget is that people actually really loved old Extended (at least, I certainly did). While there were definitive tier-1 decks, you could really play pretty much anything as even rogue decks not-infrequently went all the way given the proper metagame. The bonus to that point is that most all of the tier-1 decks from that Extended season have been banned to death, so players aren't immediately under the heel of all of the degenerate turn 1-3 decks or max power Faeries or the StoneBlade.
The other thing is, in regards to speculation, people know what was good in Old Extended because we've really only had Mirrodin Block since it was the era of that Old Extended, and Mirrodin has only offered some new toys for the theoretical Affinity deck, some Swords, and some beaters.
Finally, the Grove combo is such a hot item because of the inevitability it gives you for next-to-no cost against many, mostly control, decks. I don't think $10+ for a card that is only as available as Tarmogoyf that can go in just about as many decks as said creature is really a bad price for it.
I'm not sure what Cryptic Command is at, but if it's anywhere near it's near-rotation low, those things really heat up come Extended season in the time it was legal. [pre-post edit: NM copies are selling at $12 on TCGplayer. That's not a speculators price, but it's a good price if you need them still.]
Actual edit:
I forget who said it, but Horizon Canopy is a wonderful card. It goes well in many decks -- instead of being an either-or cycling land, it does both for you. It works effectively with KotR and happens to be in the same colors, and allows you to convert you excess lands into card advantage. Additionally, it has the "Future Sight" quantity dilemma. They don't produce a game winning combo effect, though, so I can't really understand speculating on them too heavily. They're priced around $6-8, but I don't think the ceiling on them is higher than $10.
