Scapeshift may still get play in the Landfall deck. Steepe Lynx, Geopede, Vineslasher Kudzu.
Don't forget kotr in that mix. What'd people think of flagstones of trokair for this very reason? I was thinking I should be grabbing them.
As for ceiling on vend clique, it depends on what is good. It should never be hier than confidant, but if its deck gets played more than bob decks, I suppose it could be. I wouldn't be picking them up at 35 though

The thing about Flagstone of Trokair is that it only produced one color and isn't fetchable. It's okay, but not uber awesome IMO.
On the topic of lands from Future Sight, Grove of the Burnwillows is practically sold out everywhere. Go Zoo Go!
Flagstones has some interesting interactions though, two Flagstones in play can fetch Hallowed Fountain and Godless Shrine for some mana fixing. You can also Ghost Quarter yourself to fetch another color of mana that you don't have.
Being able to buy Cobra sets for under 35, and Vengevine for 45-50, are these worth it? I could see them rising back up to standard peaks again if they place in a few tournies.
Lotus Cobra and Vengevine are about to rotate. Buying them now comes with a certain amount of risk. So far, I haven't seen too many Modern lists that use them.

WoTC, thank you for finally announcing the Modern format, an eternal format where everyone can participate.
What's the ceiling on Grove of the Burnwillows? 10 bucks for regular and 20 bucks for foil?
I think they've been 15-20+ for a while now for foil, actually. On eBay, they're still consistently at $5 with foils around $20. For the ceiling, I'd probably go with 10 and 30.
No idea the direction on cards, but these are my current pick ups with the modern announcement. Shocks, goyf and bob are obvious so it goes without saying. Not all will go up, but some might start to boom like others have, so i guess get them while the window is still open. Some of these are already getting difficult to find.
Academy Ruins
Blinkmoth Nexus
Cryptic Command
Flagstones of Trokair
Gifts Ungiven
Grove of the Burnwillows
Horizon Canopy
Kira, Great Glass-Spinner
Mutavault
Pact of Negation
Reflecting Pool
Serra Avenger
Sower of Temptation
Thoughtseize
Tooth and Nail
Tombstalker
Vendilion Clique
Vesuva
Why Blinkmoth and not Inkmoth (or both)? Just curious about common opinion on our infect land.
Inkmoth nexus are still readily available everywhere, it was mentioned in the post you replied to that they are beginning to get hard to find, this simply isnt the case with newer stuff, so that would be part of the reason why inkmoth wouldnt be on the list. The more supply dwindles as demand remains steady/grows, the price will continue to increase. I think that was what he was getting at anyway and why he may have only listed blinkmoth nexus and not both.
Definitely missed the boat on grove of the burnwillows...
Edit: Also, it seems that the best targets for speculation are cards that have unique and irreplaceable effects. For example, as much as I want Noble Hierarch to spike hard, I don't think it will, because people can use Birds, Llanowar Elves, or a host of other cards that do the same job, albeit a bit suboptimally.
A few points on a few things: scapeshift didn't get banned, so flagstones is still insane. Grove isn't nearly as strong in this format as in 4 yr extended because zoo is the only deck to survive banning.... And punishing fire isn't even killing anything in that deck other than potentially a qasali or a bob, depending on build. Still obviously good and going up, but still.
IMO noble is a great pickup because it can't be reprinted (exalted mechanic).
Personally, I'm excited about scapeshift zoo... It got nothing banned, avoids punishing fire, makes opponents unable to tap out, and we have close to optimal lists available already from previouos years.
Guys, wait
What do you think the ceiling will be on foil Pact of Negations?
I've had one sitting in my binder for months, and last i checked it was worth $20.
Now you can barely find normal ones for that price...

Holy crap. I hadn't even thought about that card since I played Flash in Vintage. That's an amazing spike!
Speaking of spkies. I think Boom/Bust could spike soon. It combos well with Bloodbraid Elf and was used to win a SCG Modern side event this weekend. It could end up being a really strong deck/combo. And since Boom/Bust came from a set that was not well liked and did not sell very well, it could take right off.

I didn't include anything from standard since most of it is still readily available. In a couple years we might see cards gaining if modern hits off well. I've been watching blinkmoths get harder to find. They've been going up slightly over the past few months, and a lot of other recent spikes had a similar trend (Vendilion Clique, Pact of Negation) so there is a chance it may happen.

Not sure what the ceiling is but i'd hold on to it. I'm not even 100% on pacts price yet. I had been noticing to pick them up when i checked tcgplayer one morning and found them all gone, it was a few days before a vendor even had any for sale, but the price seems pretty high.
Some people may also try to use it as a pseudo force of will. It won't pan out that great so they may lose demand over time. I'd try to drop them as soon as you get a serious offer once things settle over the next week.
Gifts is probably going to see a ban in the near future, so I'd be cautious about picking those up.
The only problem with the rest of those is that the majority of them are already $10+ cards, and so can't spike too hard.
At their current price though it's well worth it. It's probably the closest thing to intuition we'll have in modern, albeit no where near as good.
I haven't checked yet on pricing. I know some have already been spiking and others are pretty high. My observations is coming from how hard these are getting to find (and shortages will increase price/demand just as well) mixed with their potential as cards. A lot of these cards will impact the meta pretty well.
Anyone have thoughts on the Modern applications of Ranger of Eos?
I would imagine that he's too slow for Zoo, but I would say that he's just another good card in a sea of good cards. He'll find a niche, but I don't think he'll be powerful enough to really break through and spike in price.

The price on Grove of the Burnwillows will depend, I think, on how the meta adapts to it. How many copies of Blood Moon, Magus of the Moon, Ghost Quarter, and Tectonic Edge are people going to play? That'll tell the tail.
