I remember writing a very lengthy post about Sower a few months ago, maybe longer when they were $5-6 bucks (couple other cards to watch as well). Sometimes mage's have just that...days, weeks, months to get these cards before one or two dudes start buying up stock. This site does have a tons of "foil-hats" as one brave poster stated (like why don't some of us share our leaks etc, like that's ever going to happen to be honest)...then the're guys like myself that sit well over 85% with claims from spoilers to what's the next big thing (thanks to my contacts I've had rather great success)...if only people read more of these posts from seasoned/experienced players and absorbed the content of them instead of trying to fight against them (often that leaves the window pretty closed for action).
Everything time I read something with merit I record it, look into it, and of course move on it if there's still time...in most cases many of you have that time before those tears of "omg" that card is just to much now to buy....actually becomes to expensive.
This is a solid site, when you're on the ball.

Looks like some kind of buyout happened with Sower of Temptation. There's only a handful of NM copies left on MagicCardMarket and the price is doubled on the remaining ones.
Wild Defiance has spiked up to almost $3 and the supply is quickly dwindling. This card was a favorite of mine when it was in Standard, but I never thought I'd see it above junk rare status, especially this soon after printing. I'm guessing Infect, just like Pendelhaven?

Yes. It was tested in infect before, but there really isn't a consensus on the card. The Pantheon used it heavily so it is likely seeing more widespread play.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.

It's a great way for GX infect to fight through Bolt/Snapcaster/Bolt and Electrolyze efficiently, while allowing you to alpha easier. A bit slower than the traditional infect build but good against UR delver type decks. Also much cheaper than Spellskite, for which this is an alternative.
I picked up a bunch of these with those stamps to indicate that the card was used in a high level draft/sealed event (.10 box @ star city event). I would assume they're automatically a lower grade than NM?
Seriously, can the mods not do something about the people saying things only to further their own goals? These Gainer threadS are becoMing a bit of a joke, and there are obvious and repeat offenders.
So you would prefer complete silence, which is what you've contributed to these threads so far? Who has an agenda, tin foil hat guy? Why don't you point them out to us. Who is manipulating us and sitting on mounds of cash and ALL teh magics?
I'd actually prefer that people talked about Gainers in the Gainers thread, rather than all the unsubstantiated speculation that's dividing everyone. If that makes my tinfoil hat look foolish, so be it.
Also, It might be good if people didn't shovel two or three piles of words into my mouth without my permission; it makes me feel violated. It was also an unusually hostile response.
(And I've contributed plenty before the switch to Curse and my break from Magic)
I will also chime in about peoples motives to post a bit before adding some actual data.
Lot of us, who either actively speculate (I personally do to keep this hobbys costs low), or just try to stay on top of the prices to have cheaper decks (I would guess majority of the 'lurkers') usually follow few cards for a spesific archetype or even just one card. When one of the cards moves, the person sometimes posts here. Quite often they will either purchase some cards beforehand or put cards on sale, based on that information, then they post. I have tried to note when I've done so, but the bottom line is that unless I have been interested in that specific card, either because I want it or have extra's waiting to be sold, I wouldn't have noted the price movement as fast.
If you want data, about what has happened, use tools like MtgStocks.com, but if you want info that something is currently ongoing, you need to accept that people who mention the cards do have something invested into that card. And yes. Sometimes people abuse this, but it's actually pretty rare here on MtGS. Also it's usually a mark of trust in the facts if the person put's his money on it. It's also pretty easy to check multiple sources these days, and do your own homework. I usually study the price trends of the cards and in borderline cases try to find how many cards have actualy been on sale and how many can still be found outside MCM or TCG.
I also base lot of my specs on MCM, which is not open to majority of the readers here, but I know for a fact that quite often it leads to European players into buying a playset or few foils, so I have to have some integrity. Otherwise I would lose all credibility. I also use the same nick here and on MCM, so it hopefully helps.
As for real Modern info several Modern-centric uncommons have moved way up. Guttural Responce is closing on 5$ on TCG mid and stock is disappearing fast. Might of Old Krosa has also gained another dollar up to 6$ (again TCG mid).
Few other steady gainers are Necrogen Mists, which seems more like a casual card with Waste Not, but I'm not certain about it. Sower of Temptation has also been going up lately, getting good press among pros for Sultai-decks. Academy Ruins also moved up earlier, but has been coming back down towards 9$. Soul Spike is also still creeping up. I would predict a growth towards 5$, as the supply is pretty small and the deck is super fun. Kind of like Fury of the Horde was before the reprint.
Both Pacts, Negation and Summoners have also been steady risers. I'm thinking of selling my extra foils soon, but haven't listed them yet. I took both items down when the deck T8'ed and waited to gain little more understanding on the new price. (I had both foils listed at current non-foil TCG mid-prices... Luckily nobody bought them.) Slaughter Pact has also been an earlier huge gainer. When it was first mentioned on this thread a year back, Future Sight mid-price was 2,39$ , now the mid is 8,19$. I really hope that Pact of the Titan jumps, as I bought a huge pile when Hive Mind played that one.
Who is "furthering their own goals"? Please explain. I think your previous post was very hostile and this post as well. Please explain how Gainers is a joke now and who is manipulating us into "furthering their own goals". A list would be helpful for the community.
This is a helpful commentary thread. If I wanted raw data, I would just watch mtggoldfish or whatever else. Someone posts something here, and I evaluate whether I want to buy in or not. Is anyone mindlessly buying things because they're posted on this thread? No, use your own judgement please. But I appreciate the hot tips when they arrive and I recognize them. Why you would want to stifle that is beyond me. It's not like there are dozens of people pounding this thread all day every day with fake accounts about how Mutagenic Growth is due for a spike. That's not happening. We're getting like 3 posts a day and most of them have useful info. The goyf thing was a sidetrack but I don't see how anyone was trying to "further their own goals".
Edit: look at page 1 of this thread and tell me anything has changed besides your own perception.

Hey guys, lets bring this back around to discussing gainers rather than argue about goal furthering. I appreciate that you both are passionate about this topic, but let's keep this thread on track. If you guys want to hash it out further or have any other concerns, feel free to discuss it on my helpdesk.
I am also incredibly confused by this. Buying out an uncommon that sees very little play and might be reprinted in 2 months seems very strange.
Nah. The non-foil copy has been creeping up for a while and started showing up on a lot of want lists (on Puca Trade) about 2 weeks ago. If you see a non-foil starting to move, know that there aren't many foil copies out there, it's really easy to make the auto-pricers on TCGPlayer freak out with relatively little investment.

I guess my bigger curiosity is why the non-foil has tripled in price in the last week, not so much the foil version.

Evil is even, truth is an odd number, and death is a full stop.
It's been gaining momentum over the last few months and usually cards like that pop. It's showing up in a bunch of Modern sideboards it looks like... That's enough to push it I think.
What do people think of serum visions? I have a bunch of them since I started playing in Mirroden block. Is it gonna hold a steady $8.50 price tag or is it most certain to be reprinted in MM2? Trying to decide whether I should hold or keep

At the very least, get rid of the extras.
I'd dump all of them if it were me, but if you use the card, then it can't be helped. The closest cards I can think of to it is Spell Snare and Inquisition of Kozilek. Spell Snare tanked pretty hard for a while and is slowly recovering, while Inquisition was reprinted only in a duel event deck (Modern event deck, limited run). And its price only fell a few dollars. But the few dollars add up if you have a bunch of them.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
Actually, Inquisition of Kozilek was reprinted in the Modern Event Deck 2014, a limited high-price product, so it's no wonder this did not affect the price very much.
Yeah, that's what I had meant to say. Didn't mean Duel Deck. If Visions is reprinted, I see it falling to $3-4 or so.

Why is Parallel Lives $5.15? What deck is this played in?
I think casual. I've been expecting it for some time now. It's a second Doubling Season for whomever wishes to use a second one. And it's also a replacement for Doubling Season. Not quite as good, no, but cheaper by a large margin price-wise. And I guess mana-cost-wise as well, if anyone cared.
